1967 Chrysler New Yorker 4 Door Hartop on 2040-cars
Ochlocknee, Georgia, United States
For Sale by Owner all original 1967 Chrysler New Yorker with 440 ci engine and 727 transmission. One Owner car with super clean sheet metal. I originally bought the car for the engine and transmission for a Street Rod project due to the low original miles.I expected the car to be in rough shape coming out of Massachusetts but when I got there it was amazingly clean. When I brought it home, changed fluids and went through the engine, and got it tuned and took it for a drive it drove and rode like a dream. I decided to keep it for a while and drive it to shows because the body was too nice to send to the scrap. I think the pictures show how well kept the car was. I put a 750 CFM Summit carburetor on it, new cap, rotor, wires and plugs and have been driving it on and off since last summer. It will sit for a month and fire instantly when I want to take drive. It has new tires all the way around, and runs and drives great. This is a car from the "Land Yacht" era and is really a lot of fun to drive. It has a luxury feel that they just don't make any more. The 440 in it has enormous torque and it will smoke the tires from a standing stop, even with the high gearing. This car will cruise all day at 80 mph and rides like a cloud. For those who care, I specifically bought a 1967 because that year 440 motor is a 10.1:1 compression and has closed chamber 915 heads, which are a single year head found on the fastest Mopars of the time. These particular heads have the smaller valves but are same casting and I always figured on doing a valve job with hardened seats for unleaded fuel anyway . I intended to make the valve size change then because the parts and machine work cost no more to install the bigger valves when going to the unleaded seats. if you want an engine to hot rod this is the one you want, but it is a monster torque cruiser just the way it is. I am selling the car because I just don't get enough time to drive it and I found another 67 New Yorker with the 915 heads with even less mileage so I have one more 440 than I need. Someone else should enjoy the car and take it to shows. |

1990 Chrysler Imperial is a forgettable American luxury sedan
Thu, Mar 17 2016MotorWeek's Retro Review series often lets us be nostalgic about vehicles from the '80s and '90s, but this time the show looks back on the 1990 Chrysler Imperial. With atrocious styling and middling performance, it might be better that we collectively forget about this luxury sedan. When this Imperial hit the scene, the BMW 7 Series and Mercedes-Benz S-Class were entrenched in the luxury sedan segment. Japanese automakers like Lexus and Infiniti were also making waves. The Chrysler just seems old fashioned compared to the rest, and its landau roof didn''t fit the competition's modern styling. MotorWeek also complains of poor craftsmanship and bad visibility out of the back. A 3.3-liter V6 with 147 horsepower doesn't provide much acceleration, either. Chrysler understood the demands of its aging customers for the Imperial. The sedan didn't offer anything class-leading, but there were a comfy seats and a floaty suspension to get drivers around town. In the modern world of luxury vehicles, which bristle with active safety tech and advanced infotainment system, the Imperial seems like a dinosaur. Watch Motorweek's clip to get a better understanding why there's not much nostalgia for this American sedan. Related Video:
Chrysler celebrates 90 years with special trim levels
Wed, Sep 2 2015Ninety years is a long time for any business to stick around, and it's especially difficult in the auto industry. Chrysler is celebrating the milestone this year by loading on extra tech with 90th Anniversary Edition packages for the 200, 300, and Town & Country. Chrysler's 90th Anniversary Edition for the 2016 300 is based on the Limited trim, and it includes an 8.4-inch UConnect infotainment system with navigation, SiriusXM radio, and a custom splash screen. In addition, buyers get a dual-pane sunroof and floor mats with the anniversary logo. Separately, the 2016 300S is available with a retuned suspension and steering that includes increased spring rates, larger sway bars, and set of Goodyear Eagle F1 tires. The 200's 90th Anniversary Edition is also based on the Limited trim, and the package adds an 8.4-inch Uconnect system without navigation, sunroof, heated mirrors, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power seats, and custom floor mats. For 2016, the Limited also has blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-path detection as a standalone option, and it and the S version get a standard backup camera. The 200C now comes with a heated steering wheel, as well. Finally, the Town & Country is due for a replacement in early 2016, but the current version gets to celebrate the 90th anniversary, too. Based on the Touring-L trim, the package adds a power sunroof, bright door handles, heated seats for the first two rows, a heated steering wheel, and keyless ignition. Plus, there are special logos on the splash screen and floor mats. 90th Anniversary of Chrysler Brand Marked by Nearly Complete Refresh of Vehicle Lineup September 1, 2015 , Auburn Hills, Mich. - With two of the brand's three vehicles either recently renewed – from the refreshed flagship and iconic 300 full-size sedan earlier this year, to the completely new 200 mid-size sedan last year – Chrysler is gaining momentum. Add to that the upcoming sixth-generation of the vehicle that created the minivan segment more than 30 years ago, coming next year, and that qualifies for a serious roll. 2015 also marks the Chrysler Brand's 90th year, which it will celebrate by offering special 90th anniversary models of its 300, 200 and Town & Country models. "Clearly 2015 is a very exciting time for the Chrysler Brand," said Al Gardner, President and CEO - Chrysler Brand, FCA — North America.
2015 Chrysler 200 production gets underway [w/videos]
Mon, 17 Mar 2014Chrysler announced recently that it has added some 800 new jobs at its Sterling Heights Assembly Plant (SHAP) to support the production of its all-new 2015 Chrysler 200 sedan. Total employment at the Sterling Heights, MI plant grows to almost 2,800 with the hires, an impressive figure for a plant that was slated for closure in 2010.
Speaking to a crowd of employees and community leaders, Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne was on hand to celebrate the kick-off of 200 production last week. "We're making a big bet on its success," said Marchionne of the sedan, "we've invested nearly a billion dollars in this facility."
That billion-dollar bill has been used to construct a spanking new paint shop, install a new body shop and install "machinery, tooling and material-handling equipment" according to the Chrysler press release. The company says that SHAP now runs to nearly five million square feet of manufacturing space - loads of room for all the new employees to do their thing - and that the facility can handle multiple vehicles on two unique architectures.
