This is a beautiful example of a survivor 1962 Chrysler New Yorker. all original 413 V8, push-button shifted transmission, with power steering, power brakes, power seat, power windows, factory option Air conditioning, and more! Car has never been restored or rebuilt. Sellers have owned this car since approximately 1970. Car was always well maintained and garaged. unfortunately, due to declining health, the car had not been used or maintained for the last 6-7 yrs. I have been given the task of getting the car running and driving and selling it for them. They tell me that when the car was still being used EVERYTHING on the car worked, even the air conditioning! Of course, after setting for several years, there were some problems that came up. I will be as open and honest as I can be when describing the car. If there is anything that I miss or if you have any questions feel free to ask. Also, I will send more pics upon request.
I have gone over this car pretty well, it is now running nearly perfectly, no smoke or noises from the engine. The transmission works well, shifts smoothly into all gears. Car rides smooth as glass with no rattles or squeaks. The interior is in amazing condition for a car that is over 50 years old. The rear seat still has the plastic cover on it from the factory, the front seat plastic cover was just removed about 10 years ago. There are no tears and almost no wear signs on anything inside this car. Even the original radio works like new! The body is in great shape, again, considering it is 50+ years old. It looks like the top side of the car along with the sides of the fenders have been repainted at some point. There are a few small scratches and dings. There is almost no rust on this car. The ONLY rust that the car has, is a small spot on the bottom side of the rocker panels in front of both rear wheels, and a small spot on the bottom of one fender just behind the front wheel (when I say small, I mean aprox. 3in circle). I have been working on old cars and doing rust repair for 20 years, and can honestly say, if there is an easy rust repair, this is it!!! All rust is lower than the chrome trim (not under it), so paint work could be kept below the trim. The brakes will need some attention before the car is 100%. They do work fine, after they get warmed up. Before they are warm they grab badly. I cleaned and inspected the brakes and they look to have had an overhaul recently, so I just cleaned and reassembled them, but they still grab. A new set of shoes should solve the problem. I also replaced all of the rubber brake lines. The tires are coker classics, new in 2004, they looks new, they show absolutely no signs of age or wear at all, only had to put in 5-10psi after they had sat for 6-7 years!
Just to be clear. I have only done what was needed to get the car back to running and mobile. I have driven the car down the road with no problems, but I am not saying that it is perfect and ready for a road trip.
list of what I have done
new battery, starter rebuilt, fuel system cleaned, carburetor rebuilt, fuel filter, oil and filter change, brakes cleaned and rubber hoses replaced, cleaned ignition points
complete list of known problems
brakes grab till warm, dome light only works with rear doors, air conditioning not working, right rear power window not working (closed and wont open), temp and fuel gauges not working.

1986 Chrysler LeBaron owned by Lee Iacocca to cross the auction block
Tue, Jan 14 2020Enthusiasts will have the opportunity to bid on an overlooked piece of Chrysler history during the huge Bonhams auction taking place in Scottsdale, Arizona, on January 16. Offered without reserve, this LeBaron Town & Country Convertible was first registered to former Chrysler boss Lee Iacocca, and it has covered only 20,500 miles since. The LeBaron Town & Country shares its K platform with numerous Chrysler, Dodge, and Plymouth models built between 1981 and 1989. Nearly every nameplate built on it was mass produced and mass destroyed, but this wood-sided droptop is a rare exception. It's one of 1,105 examples built, and its connection to the man who saved Chrysler (and helped create the original Ford Mustang, the infamous Pinto, and Chrysler's first minivans, among many others) likely helped it reach its 34th birthday in like-new condition, a fate a majority of Ks could only dream of from the wrong side of the Pick-N-Pull fence. Bonhams stated the Town & Country comes from Iacocca's personal collection. The auction house doesn't mention how long the influential executive owned it for, or how many miles he put on it. What's certain is that Iacocca undoubtedly knew there was nothing exhilarating about the 97-horsepower engine that came standard in the LeBaron, so he paid extra for a turbocharged version of the fuel-injected, 2.2-liter four-cylinder that put 146 horses under his right foot. It spun the front wheels via a three-speed automatic transmission. Our archives indicate Chrysler charged $17,595 for the Town & Country Convertible in 1986, and priced the turbo four at $628, figures that represent about $42,300 and $1,500, respectively, in 2020. While Chrysler's K-based cars haven't set the collector world on fire yet, Bonhams expects this exceptionally clean example will sell for anywhere between $20,000 and $25,000 when it crosses the auction block in sunny Scottsdale. To quote Iacocca, "if you can find a better car, buy it." Or, if you're into faster Mopar products, his personal, 6,500-mile Dodge Viper — the very first regular-production example made — will also cross the block in Arizona. Fiat Chrysler, surprise, had to buy a lot of emissions credits
Sun, Dec 27 2015The world of carbon emissions uses some unusual units of measure. Take, for example, 8.2 million megagrams. Who needs to know how much that is? Someone at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, that's who. FCA had to buy that many greenhouse-gas emissions credits from greener automakers, Reuters says, citing a report from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Because its vehicles' collective fuel economy continues to trail the industry average, FCA purchased the emissions credits at of the end of 2014 in order to meet US emissions regulations. About two-thirds of those credits were acquired from Toyota, while the rest were purchased from Tesla and Honda. Daimler and Ferrari, not surprisingly, were among the other automobile companies that had to acquire emissions credits in order to meet US greenhouse gas regulations. Because the price for these credits is set privately by the companies, the EPA didn't disclose how much FCA had to pay to stay on the green side. The reason for the millions FCA likely spent is because the company is making a slow progress building and selling cleaner cars. The company did increase average fuel efficiency by about one mile per gallon to almost 22 mpg for the 2015 model year, but it wasn't enough. Such a performance likely only put the automaker in a last-place tie with General Motors. The emissions credits purchased from Tesla are notable because that California-based maker of electric vehicles has long generated substantial revenue by selling various credits to its less-electrified counterparts. In 2013, Tesla sold more of California's ZEV credits than any other automaker, but Nissan took that title in 2014. While these are not the same as the EPA's GHG credits, they do offer another way to track which automakers are meeting the targets and which need help. Junkyard Gem: 1975 Plymouth Fury Sedan
Sun, Dec 27 2020The Plymouth Fury was once among the most commonplace vehicles on American roads, with the 1970s being the most Furious decade of all. If you've watched a lot of Malaise Era cop shows, you've seen endless examples of the 1975-1978 B-Body Fury sedan; today's Junkyard Gem in Colorado is a civilian version with a very unusual combination of features and options. Though the 1975-1978 Fury is sibling to many much more famous B Platform Chryslers, including the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee and a lot of other highly revered Mopars of the late 1960s and early 1970s, it doesn't get the recognition it deserves today. Would the world be the same if Debbie Harry had posed in her Anya Phillips dress on the bumper of, say, a Ford LTD instead of the iconic '76 Fury on the cover of Plastic Letters? I've got this album cover hanging on my garage wall, right next to Sir Mix-a-Lot's My Hooptie and its '69 Buick Electra. This sun-baked '75 left the assembly line with some nice luxury options for an affordable midsize sedan of its time, including a padded vinyl roof. Factory air conditioning was a $437 option on the Fury in 1975, a price tag that comes to an attention-grabbing $2,185 in 2020 dollars. The MSRP on a Fury sedan that year started at just $3,571 ($17,840 today), so A/C jacked up the cost by close to 15%. The base engine was a 225-cubic-inch (3.7-liter) Slant-6, but this car took the next step up on the Fury engine hierarchy for 1975: a 318-cubic-inch (5.2-liter) V8 making 145 horsepower. Here's where things get a bit weird. That shift lever on the steering column controls a three-speed manual; this rig is commonly known as a three-on-the-tree. The most popular transmission setup on Detroit cars of the 1940s through the early 1960s, the good ol' three-on-the-tree survived here all the way through the 1979 model year in new cars and 1987 in new trucks. By 1975, most lower-priced American mid- and full-sized cars had the three-on-the-tree as base equipment, but by that time nearly every new-car shopper here opted for an automatic transmission or — occasionally — a floor-shifted three- or four-speed manual. The total number of 1975 Fury buyers who sprang for the V8 engine, air conditioning, and a vinyl roof yet still kept the old-fashioned three-on-the-tree transmission setup probably can be counted in the low hundreds, if even that many.
