1956 New Yorker St. Regis

Very Rare! One Family Owner!

Rust Free! Easy Restoration!

Offered for sale for the first time is a 1956 New Yorker St. Regis Coupe. This was considered to be the very best Chrysler built in 1956 and was an award winning design. Only a few have ever been available on the market in this highly restorable condition. It is a completely 100 percent rust free car but has been sitting in an enclosed garage for about 10 years. This could be a driver for very little money and effort or could be restored to near perfect easily.

Body - The body on this car is very straight and rust free. The passenger's side door is taken apart due to a door lock issue and all of the parts are present. The floor pans are solid original panels. The paint is faded but looks like it may have been painted one time in its life. From the articles I have read, the roof was originally black. There are no chrome pieces missing anywhere but the chrome is pitted in places and may need some attention. All of the glass is in good shape and there are no cracks present. The engine compartment looks fresh as well.

Interior - The interior is usable with no tears or burns. The vinyl and fabric is old and would need replacing from fading and cracking in places. The dash is complete and there are no tears present anywhere. All of the chrome handles and switches are in good condition and most of them are working. The headliner is in usable condition but shows signs of age.

Mechanical - The engine cranks easily but has no spark. I have not heard it run but I am sure it will easily run with a major tune up. There are no leaks underneath the from the transmission or power steering pumps. It needs all 4 tires due to dry rotting. The outside lighting works although a few of the bulbs look weak.

History - I purchased this out of an estate. It was originally owned by the deceased person's father who passed it down when he died. It has been well cared for since new but was not driven for about 10 years. It looks as though it was restored at one time.

Please e-mail or call me with any questions. I will respond quickly and honestly.

Chrysler mum on Toledo Wrangler production after meeting Ohio leaders

Fri, 10 Oct 2014

"Fiat Chrysler remains committed to producing vehicles in Toledo and anticipates employment to remain at current levels."
The future of the iconic Jeep Wrangler in Toledo, OH, remains uncertain after a meeting Thursday between Fiat Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne and Ohio government leaders.

NHTSA closes book on Jeep 'trailer hitch' recall after all

Mon, 20 Jan 2014

After much debating and hand-wringing, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration now says it has "no reservations" with Chrysler's plan to recall certain Jeep Liberty and Grand Cherokee models over concerns that their fuel tanks, which are located behind the rear axle, could rupture or leak in the event of a rear impact. The longstanding argument between the two entities saw Chrysler openly defy the Feds after a request to recall 2.7 million units back in June.
Chrysler's "voluntary campaign" will instead see it recall 1.56-million 1993-2004 model year Grand Cherokee SUVs, along with 2002-2007 Liberty models. Affected vehicles will get a trailer hitch installed free of charge, which Chrysler says will provide an additional degree of protection for the fuel tanks in the event of a crash. Jeeps with Mopar-branded hitches or hitches that were installed at the factory aren't affected by this recall.
Chrysler's argument throughout this battle has been that the Jeeps in question are no more susceptible to fires than comparable vehicles from the same time period, a position that NHTSA has seemingly arrived at as well. "Those vehicles performed at a rate similar to their peers. That is the keystone analysis as to whether something poses an unreasonable risk to safety," said outgoing NHTSA boss David Strickland during an interview with the The Associated Press.

Four-horse race opens up for next Chrysler-Fiat CEO

Mon, 16 Dec 2013

There are some companies that could change leadership overnight and still remain more or less the operations that they are. But some have built themselves up around one central figure. Just ask Carlos Tavares, who found he couldn't escape the long shadow of Renault-Nissan CEO Carlos Ghosn. Tavares recently left to find his own limelight. But Ghosn isn't the only executive who presides over two disparate automakers on opposite ends of the globe.
Having built up Fiat and Chrysler around himself, we can hardly imagine either automaker getting along without Sergio Marchionne. But the day will come when the famously sweater-clad bigwig will step down. The pressing questions remain when when that day will come, and who will take his place. The only solid clues we have are in the statements made mostly by Marchionne himself, but those statements have been all over the place. When speaking to Automotive News in 2012, he said he would step down "no earlier than 2013, no later than 2015." But a year later, he had already seemingly changed his tune, indicating he could still be at the helm in 2016. Fiat chairman John Elkann seems to think Marchionne, 61, could and should stay on longer.
