1956 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible!

Only 921 Produced! Very Rare!

Believed to be 48,265 actual miles!

This is a beautiful 1956 Chrysler New Yorker Convertible that runs and drive excellent. It is truly a wonderful road car and runs super quiet. It is powered by a HEMI 354CI V8 and it is thought top be numbers matching. The body is in near perfect condition and the interior is in above average condition as well. The rarity of this car is what is exciting. From the articles I have been able to find, it is only 1 of 26 known to still exist. Please read the description carefully and ask any questions early.

Interior - The interior of this car is very nice in a white and black 2-tone color scheme. The dashboard paint is perfect and all of the interior chrome is in perfect as new condition. The leather on the seats and doors is about 7 years old and has some light color cracking and the white sections could use a re-dye if you want them to look brand new. The carpets are in great condition as are the trunk carpets. All of the gauges and interior lights are working. Even the "brake" light comes on when the handbrake is engaged. It has a Town and Country radio installed that does operate but takes a few minutes to come on. All of the necessary chrysler logos are installed and in great condition. This car even has the optional steering wheel clock installed. The steering wheel has 2 white handle from the factory that could be touched up and made whiter.

Exterior - The exterior of this car is in truly fantastic condition. It was professionally restored from 2005-2007 and a few pictures are included. It was painted in Cloud White over Desert Rose, which are both factory colors. I am unsure if this is the original color combination and I am pretty sure the car was all Cloud White in the past. All of the exterior chrome is in almost perfect condition. The bumpers were replaced at the time of the restoration. There are some minor marks and scratches on the window trims and door trims, which are believed to be original to the car. There is not any pitting or peeling on the chrome. The seems on the hood, trunk and doors are even and the doors close without the lower door sticking out past the body. The paintwork is exceptional and there are no fisheyes, orange peel or cracking parts of the paintwork. The windows are all in great condition with no cracks or chips. It has chrome CHRYSLER lettering on the trunk lid and above the front grille that is in great condition as well. The upper edge of the gas door does have 2 very tiny chips from opening it a tad too far. The convertible top needs replacing because the rear window has peeled away, so I have ordered a correct replacement top for it. The top can be installed prior to shipping the car or sent afterwards. Installation would be at my expense.

Mechanical - The V8 HEMI engine on this car purrs and is extremely smooth. It is truly amazing that a 1956 car is this quiet and runs so much like a newer car. The original 4 barrel carburetor was just professionally rebuilt and there are no issues starting the car. The spark plugs and plug wires were just replaced as well. There are some minor oil and transmission fluid drops under the car as with all old cars. The TorqueFlite transmission shifts smoothly in all gears including reverse. It also is operated through a push button panel on the left side of the steering wheel that works seamlessly. The battery was just replaced with a correct specification Interstate battery. This car has power steering that is easy to turn and makes no noise. There is some minor play in the steering wheel as with most older cars. The Whitewall tires were installed during the restoration and still have the rubber nubs on them. The Whitewall sections are slightly yellowed from age but it is only noticeable up close. The power brakes are in good condition and work as designed with no leaks, binding, locking up or squeaks.

Electrical - Everything on this car works as designed. All of the lighting works and the lighting lenses are in great contain with no cracks or missing parts. This car does not have power windows or power seats, which is a good thing for a car this age. The convertible top is power and work as designed with no issues. There are no unusual wiring problems anywhere on this car that I was able to find. Under the hood, the wiring is meticulously installed and dressed up. The wipers, lighter and all interior dome lights and back seat lights work as designed.

This is truly rare and unusual find that does not come around that often. Although I am unsure of the original ownership, I do know that it was owned by the prior owner since 2001 and the owner before him owned it for nearly 30 years. I know it was maintained it's whole life and was never a basket case or rust bucket. In fact, the last owner drove it 70 miles home when bought it back in 2001. The title does show the miles listed above, is clear and is in my name.

Please e-mail me all your questions and I will respond quickly and honestly. You are welcome to inspect the car prior to the end of the auction and third party inspections can be arranged. Only bid if you intent to purchase this car. Please have the funds ready to go when the auction ends.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Hybrid Long-term Review | Introducing something green

Wed, Aug 22 2018

BIRMINGHAM, Mich. — I'm stoked to drive this minivan. Legitimately. The 2018 Chrysler Pacifica hybrid is an impressive evolution of the minivan and a smart execution of electric technology. Why hasn't someone made a hybrid minivan until now? I ponder this as I unplug the charger and take my first spin in the Pacifica, the newest addition to the Autoblog long-term fleet. Sinking into the leather seats, I'm immediately relaxed. That's why you buy a minivan: comfort and convenience. Hybrid tech? Well that makes this thing sustainable and even cool. Whether your friends are swanky or wonky, play the plug-in hybrid card and your people hauler is cooler than theirs. What we got We went with the Pacifica Hybrid Limited. It starts at $44,995 and wears a beautiful shade of Ocean Blue. The interior features black and alloy pieces and leather. Power comes from the sturdy 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 dubbed the eHybrid for this application, and it works with an eFlite electrically variable transmission home to two motors making 84 and 114 hp. The hybrid battery pack has 96 lithium-ion cells that generate 16 kWh of energy. The net system power is 260 horsepower. In real-world driving, it's quick, torquey and more fun to drive than the average minivan. It can charge in two hours using a Level 2 charger and offers 33 miles of range on pure electricity. Collectively, it puts out 84 MPGe, and using just the Pentastar it's still rated at a robust 32 mpg in combined city and highway driving conditions. The Limited is the top-of-the line Pacifica trim, offering heated and vented front seats, an 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen and 13 Alpine speakers as standard equipment. We added a safety and tech package ($995) that includes parking assist, a 360-degree surround view camera, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control, seatback video screens and a Blu-ray DVD player. We also ticked the box for the hybrid appearance package ($395) to add 18-inch polished aluminum wheels, body color treatments for the mirrors and door handles, and a "Black Spear Applique" for the rear fascia. It's not worth your money. We topped it off with the $1,595 tri-pane sunroof, which is totally worth your money. Final cost including destination: $49,325. It's reasonable, considering the level of luxury the Limited offers, and as we all know, hybrid tech isn't cheap. If you can get the $7,500 federal tax credit the government offers on electrics, it's a great value.

Chrysler unveils Dodge Charger SRT8 392, 300 SRT Concept to the faithful

Tue, 26 Mar 2013

Our man Steven J. Ewing recently spent some time in a 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 Super Bee, and while he found a lot to love - particularly underhood - he didn't care for the sedan's retro-steeped visuals, preferring the standard SRT's look instead. Perhaps he'll dig this throwback look instead. Over the weekend, Chrysler unveiled this handsome 2013 Dodge Charger SRT8 392 Appearance Package at the eighth annual Spring Festival of LXs, a gathering of Charger, Challenger and Chrysler 300 enthusiasts held in Irvine, California.
Unveiled by SRT CEO Ralph Gilles in front of an estimated 2,500 Spring Fest goers, the 392 features 20-inch Black Vapor Chrome alloys set off by a black-painted roof panel, hood bulge, spoiler and mirror caps. Additional exterior changes include model-specific striping and badging along with the requisite serialized dash plaque inside. The 392 will be available in five colors - Billet Silver Metallic, Bright White, Hemi Orange, Plum Crazy and the TorRed pain seen here.
Performance-wise, the 392 remains unchanged from standard SRT8s, but that's hardly a slight - the 6.4 liter Hemi V8 continues to churn out 470 horsepower and 470 pound-feet of torque to the rear wheels. Like other 2013 SRT8s, the 392 benefits from the institution of a new launch control system and a retuned three-mode adaptive suspension.

Chrysler investigating complaints of vehicles with faulty power modules

Sun, 24 Aug 2014

Chrysler owners are hopping mad after experiencing a series of electrical gremlins in some of the company's vehicles. Issues range from mere annoyances - windows rolling down and radios turning off of their own accord - to serious safety issues, with headlights that randomly shut off at night and cars that stall and refuse to start.
The issues are being blamed on the total integrated power module, which can cost up to $1,000 for customers to replace. This, of course, has led to a hefty batch of complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, with 240 owners expressing their displeasure so far. Another site, CarComplaints.com, has registered over 300 complaints relating to the 2010 to 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee and Dodge Durango, alone, according to The New York Times.
Chrysler has acknowledged that it's investigating the complaints and is analyzing the faulty TIPMs, but that isn't quite enough for customers of the affected vehicles. The newspaper has snagged a few of the more harrowing tales with the electrically challenged Chrysler products, culled from the NHTSA complaints.
