Please read entire ad, including watching videos and looking at all the pics, before asking questions. I try to do my best to show the car exactly how it is and I posted a lot of pictures and videos and description so you can see if this is the car for you.

1985 Chrysler Lebaron Coupe Turbo. 77K original Miles. Original California Car. Original Blue license plates. Runs and drives great with no problems. Was owned by older couple most of its life. Top was replaced in the late 90s / early 2000s. Original two tone paint (gold on top, tan yellow cream color on bottom). Original paint is a little faded and could use a repaint to be perfect but overall still looks nice, at least to me, and probably everyone else who likes k cars. Brown interior is in very nice shape. There is only a little sun fade, mainly on the driver seat (see video and pics). It could be dyed again if desired, it is very minor and would be an easy fix. The interior looks very nice and is in great shape for being from 1985. It has an aftermarket kenwood cd player. I have the original radio that came with the car and I will include that as well. It has new front brake pads and 1 new rotor. It has a new TPS (Throttle Position Sensor). New K&N air filter. Clean California title, Current CA registration (sept. 2014) , passed last smog test with very low readings. I havent smogged it for this sale since it is possibly going to be bought by someone out of state and I didn't want to waste my money. I am posting it for sale now because the registration expires in September 2014. If I end up smogging it and registering it then I am probably going to keep it for a while. I bought it in early 2014 when my daily driver truck broke down. I needed a car for a few weeks until I fixed my truck. I saw this one near my house for sale and bought it because I needed a car and also I really like the turbo k cars. This is the 5th one I have had. I previously had a 85 lebaron gts, 84 laser, 85 dodge 600 convertible and a 86 new yorker. They are great cars. This is the nicest one I have had. The Lebaron Coupe is very rare, especially as a turbo, and especially with the low mileage it has and being a California car it has no rust and it is very straight. It only has minor dings and scratches on it (see video and pics). If you are into the turbo k cars and looking to buy one, here is your chance.

Im not too attached to it that I cant sell it and get another one down the line someday. Right now I have too many other cars, boats and other stuff. My dad passed away about 2 years ago and I have a lot of his cars to deal with as well as my own cars. I am sure someday I might be looking for one of these cars and not able to find one and should probably just keep it somewhere until then but I really just dont have the time / space to deal with it right now so if I could sell it to a k car enthusiast that would be ideal. These cars are becoming very collectible, especially a turbo 2 door coupe with 77K original miles on it with the original CA blue license plates. It should be in someone's garage and not sitting outside in Oakland, CA :) Since it is from 1985 Im sure it could use things here and there to make it better as it is not a brand new car and is 30 years old. The driver side window moves a little so sometimes to get it all the way up you have to touch it with your finger to move it over so it can go all the way up correctly (most likely one of the tabs holding it). Its pretty minor of a problem and probably an easy fix or just live with it. I will show it on the interior video below. The front seat is power and works but has a little trouble going all the way back on the passenger side track. It is a 6 way it goes back forward, tilts back and forward and has lumbar up and down. It all works pretty good but maybe could use a little work to be perfect. I will show that in the video as well. Those are pretty much the only 2 things wrong with the car. There are no known leaks or noises. The transmission shifts great. If the car will need anything it will just be regular maintenance, everything on it is pretty solid and original for the most part. If you are a K car enthusiast, you will love this car. It is a great one to start with, finish or use as is. The tires were changed a few years ago but all matching and with good tread. If I think of anything else to put in the ad I will add it. If you have any questions let me know. Check out the video and pictures to see it. The first video shows the color of the car the best and was the same day I washed it. The 2nd video is with a clearer , but cheap HD camera that doesnt show the color of the car as well and was the day after I washed it. The 3rd video is of it starting up and showing the engine and interior. You can make the videos bigger by clicking on the title and watching it on my YT channel. I have put a lot of pictures in html form, so if you are looking from a phone you might need to look from a computer to see all of them.

FCA and Peugeot reportedly agree on merger

Wed, Oct 30 2019

Citing a Wall Street Journal report, the Detroit Free Press says "Fiat Chrysler and PSA Groupe have agreed to merge." The Journal reported on talks between the two car companies only yesterday. It's said that Peugeot's board met yesterday to approve the deal, FCA's board met today, and an announcement could come as soon as tomorrow, Thursday. Both automakers have released statements, but neither company has released any information beyond admitting to ongoing talks. If the merger happens, the combined entity would become the world's fourth-largest carmaker with a $50 billion valuation, slotting in behind Toyota, the Volkswagen Group, and the Renault Nissan Mitsubishi alliance. Among the merger options possible, "an all-stock merger of equals" is the one analysts and Moody's seem to give the best grade. The reported merger would come about four months after FCA walked away from merger talks with Renault. FCA said the French government scuppered those talks over the role of Nissan in a reformed entity, but there were also brewing issues with French unions, and ongoing turmoil among Renault and Nissan leadership thanks to continuing fallout from ex-CEO Carlos Ghosn's arrest last year. FCA makes most of its revenue in the U.S. and rules Italy, while Peugeot is the second-best-selling automaker in Europe with its own brand in France and Opel in Germany. The two companies already have a partnership in Europe making vans, one that FCA CEO Mike Manley has spoken highly of. Among the list of obvious benefits in a potential merger, FCA would get access to Peugeot's small, modern platforms, $10.2 billion in cash, and electrified and hybrid architecture developments, the latter especially important to FCA as those are fields where it lags. Peugeot would get much easier access to the U.S. market, and the money-printing brands Jeep and Ram. A merged carmaker would have combined sales of nearly 9 million a year, based on 2018 results. By comparison, both Volkswagen and Toyota sell over 10 million cars a year, while the Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi alliance almost 11 million. Peugeot CEO Carlos Tavares has proved he knows how to do turnarounds and mergers. After leaving a position as Carlos Ghosn's right-hand man in 2012, Tavares took over Peugeot in 2014, navigated a bailout from the French government and China's Dongfeng Motors in 2015, and turned PSA into a regional powerhouse.

What car should James Robertson buy to drive his famous 21-mile commute?

Thu, Feb 5 2015

The Internet has been abuzz this week with the story of Detroit resident James Robertson, the 56-year-old factory worker who has walked some 21 miles to work for the last 10 years. The Detroit Free Press brought Robertson's story to the fore, helping an online fundraising campaign to generate more than $275,000 (as of this writing). The original goal was just $5,000, or about enough to replace the used Honda that died on Robertson back in 2005, and left him walking. So, newly flush with funds, what's the perfect car for Robertson to buy? Let's look at the specifics of his situation, and try to pick out the best options. Here's what we know: Robertson's commute is (famously) 21 miles; he lives in downtown Detroit (for now) and seems pretty humble, so something very flashy is probably out; former Honda aside, his ties to the city (and statements about being a Ford fan) seem to indicate a Detroit Three company product is best; he's a single guy with a girlfriend; he's got to deal with Michigan weather, and the sometimes fickle snow removal processes in The D. Here are some choices: Ford F-150 Robertson is on record as being a Taurus fan, and after a decade of walking I've no doubt that the big sedan would offer a cozy respite. Still, as a car guy and a student of the industry, I'd have a hard time recommending a sedan so clearly in need of replacement. Especially when The Blue Oval has such great stuff within the rest of its roster. The 2015 F-150 seems almost perfect for Robertson. Opting for either of the new EcoBoost V6 engines should help keep fuel bills in reasonable check, while healthy ride height and four-wheel drive will get him to work on time even during the snowiest of snow days. Better still, with a fat options sheet and car-like ride quality, Robertson can have just about every amenity he might want, in a package that won't disrespect his blue-collar roots. Chevrolet Colorado You guys saw this one coming, right? The smaller footprint of the midsize Chevy pickup, relative to some of the other options here, should be an advantage for urban parking and driving. And again, 4x4 is an option for the nasty weather, the running costs should stay pretty low and there aren't many tech/luxury features that can't be had in-cabin. I'd go ahead and splash out on the Crew Cab bodystyle, too, just in case Robertson feels like starting a carpool.

Treasury says auto bailout tally drops to $20.3 billion

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

In December, the US Treasury announced that it was going to sell all of its shares in General Motors within 12 to 15 months. The first tranche of the 500-million total shares was purchased by GM, which took 200 million of them at $27.50 per share. That price represents an eight-percent premium over the market price at the time. The remaining 300 million shares will be sold "through various means in an orderly fashion."
Of the $418 billion disbursed through the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP), a report in Automotive News indicates that "about 93 percent" has been paid back, and the latest figures put Treasury's loss from the program overall at $55.58 billion. That's a $4.1 billion improvement on the last figure, when the expected red ink added up to $59.68 billion. The auto industry's portion of that loss is estimated to be $20.3 billion, a 16-percent drop from the earlier estimate of $24.3 billion.
The Treasury now owns 19 percent of GM, but if all goes well, there will be no more cause for anyone to utter "Government Motors" by the end of Q1 next year. A loss of some kind is still expected, however. Although GM's stock price is close to $29 at the time of this writing, that's still $4 below its IPO price and well below the $72 share price necessary for the government to come out even on its GM investment. On second thought, maybe the ribbing will continue.
