1967 Chrysler Imperial Crown.  4 door, numbers matching 440 with auto transmission.  Recent paint within past 10 years only due to faded original paint from hot Texas sun where car was originally from.  Exterior is a 9 out of 10 with no dents, rust, or scratches.  Some of the chrome is a bit worn but barely.  This exterior is awesome no dissappointments or surprises.  When car was painted the engine was removed, freshened up with gaskets and timing chain and gears.  The engine compartment was also painted and looks like new.  Car runs and drives perfect as I drive it everyday in the summer.  It does not overheat or burn oil.  The undercarriage is in excellent condition, no rust.  Recently has had new shocks, new brakes, new tires, fresh transmission service as well as oil change.  Recently replaced exhaust manifold gaskets as well .  All emblems and badges are affixed as they should be.  The interior does have a few flaws.  The leather is faded and cracked in a few places from the sun, however the dash board is immaculate.  The door arm rests are a bit faded with a few minor cracks.  All original equipment is still with the car.  The car has tilt as well as telescoping wheel.  The A/C will need recharging I'm sure.  Cruise control is still attached however I am not sure if it works.  Power windows, locks, and seats all work as they should.  The trunk is in excellent condition with original carpet, spare tire cover, and jack.  The only minor problems with the car are occassionaly the heater/blower motor does not work, I am unsure why and really haven't looked as I only drive in summer and do not need the blower motor, however heat does come out of the vents just sometimes the blower will not run.  Last fall when I put the car away for winter the headlight switch was becoming tempremental and had to be "wiggled" to get it to work.  That problem has seemed to have gone away as I just checked it a few days ago and all was working properly.  I do have a known working headlight switch for the car that will go with it to whom ever purchases this beauty.  I drive it daily in the summer and never have any problems.  It runs, drives, and stops like it should.  There are no dissappointments with this car....  Purchaser is responsible for all pick up and delivery fees.  Feel free to call with any questions concerning this car.  315 778 1315

Move over Audi, now Chrysler has a beef with Tesla's claims

Thu, 23 May 2013

In the same week that Audi said "not so fast" to some claims from Tesla, Chrysler has responded to a new press release from the California-based EV-maker by saying "not exactly, Tesla." The statement, released through the company's blog, comes in response to Tesla claiming it was "the only American car company to have fully repaid the government." Chrysler notes that it, too, recently paid back Uncle Sam from its 2008 bailout. Similar to Audi's recent press release, which was eventually and mysteriously deleted from the German automaker's site, Chrysler is both right and wrong in its statement.
Tesla specifically said that it had paid back the Department of Energy loans that many automakers received - including Fisker and VPG Autos - while Chrysler's retort argues Tesla is "unmistakably incorrect" since it repaid the government in 2011 a full six years early. Technically, the statements from both automakers are correct, but Tesla's startup loan originated from the DoE, while Chrysler's loan came in bailout form from the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). Further, as The Detroit News notes, Chrysler's loan still cost taxpayers well over a billion dollars after all was said and done - those negative assets tied to "old Chrysler" in the bankruptcy did not require repayment.

Stellantis wants to outfit cars with AI software to drive revenue

Tue, Dec 7 2021

MILAN — Carmaker Stellantis announced a strategy Tuesday to embed AI-enabled software in 34 million vehicles across its 14 brands, hoping the tech upgrade will help it bring in 20 billion euros ($22.6 billion) in annual revenue by 2030. CEO Carlos Tavares heralded the move as part of a strategy that would transform the car company into a “sustainable mobility tech company,” with business growth coming from features and services tied to the internet. That includes using voice commands to activate navigation, make payments and order products online. The company is expanding existing partnerships with BMW on partially automated driving, iPhone manufacturer Foxconn on customized cockpits and Waymo to push their autonomous driving work into light commercial vehicle delivery fleets. StellantisÂ’ embrace of artificial intelligence and expansion of software-enabled vehicles is part of a broad transformation in the auto industry, with a race toward more fully electric and hybrid propulsion systems, more autonomous driving features and increased connectivity in automobiles. Ford and General Motors also are banking on dramatically increased revenue from similar online subscription services. But the automakers face immense competition for monthly consumer spending from movie and music streaming services, news outlets, Amazon Prime and others. Stellantis, which was formed from the combination of PSA Peugeot and FCA Fiat Chrysler, said the software would seamlessly integrate into customers' lives, with the capability of live updates providing upgraded services over time. New products will include the possibility to subscribe to automated driving features, purchase usage-based car insurance or even increase the power of the vehicle with a tune-up to add horsepower. As a baseline, Stellantis generates 400 million euros in revenue on software-generated services installed in 12 million vehicles. To meet the targets, Stellantis will expand its software engineering team of 1,000 to 4,500 in North America, Asia and Europe. More than 1,000 of the expanded team will be retrained in house. Stellantis also announced a new partnership with Foxconn to develop semiconductors to cover 80% of the companyÂ’s needs and simplify the supply chain. The first microchips from the partnership are targeted to be installed in vehicles in 2024.

Fiat Chrysler and Renault are in advanced partnership talks

Sun, May 26 2019

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles and Renault are in advanced discussions about a possible alliance, according to a report from the Financial Times citing an anonymous "person familiar with the matter." The news isn't particularly surprising, as FCA has been a constant subject of merger and alliance talks for as long as many of us can remember. We've reported on a potential tie-up between these two automakers several times, as far back as 2008 and as recently as two months ago. FCA CEO Mike Manley has mentioned the company's openness to merging with another automaker. At the Geneva Motor Show a few months back, he said, "We have a strong independent future, but if there is a partnership, a relationship or a merger which strengthens that future, I will look at that." It's no secret that FCA is much stronger in the United States than it is in Europe. For its part, Renault has basically zero presence in the United States. A partnership or potential alliance between the two could shore up each automaker's weak spots and allow the group to split investment money into new technologies, including electric vehicles and autonomy. Of course, Renault is already tied up with Nissan and Mitsubishi, but that partnership has been a little tattered since the arrest of former Nissan and Renault CEO Carlos Ghosn on charges of financial misconduct in Japan. And in addition to Renault, FCA is understood to have discussed various partnership strategies with the PSA Peugeot Citroen group. What a final agreement – if there's any agreement at all – could look like between the two global automakers remains to be seen, and the report from Financial Times cautions that many different options for FCA and Renault are currently on the table. In other words, stay tuned.
