BEAUTIFUL 1965 FOUR DOOR IMPERIAL CROWN
WHITE with FABULOUS ORIGINAL TURQUOISE INTERIOR
ONLY 97,875 MILES

I bought this beautiful car in 1990, from the original owner. I was looking at the car for my boyfriend, but just had to have her for myself. This has always been my dream car. Every summer, she was my transportation. The luxurious interior is my favorite part of the car. The Turquoise is not faded. The wonderful headliner is perfect. The dash is gorgeous, with no cracks or scratches, including the woodwork. All of the interior chrome is fabulous; & the lights all are working. The carpet is great & all original. The leather & cloth seats are as perfect as when I bought the car. The clock works now & then, just to tease me. The radio plays great AM & the retractable antenna operates. All of the glass on the car is original & without breakage. The car had been sitting for the past four years, with me starting her regularly, but she never sat in the sun. The car just had a tune up & a new fuel pump & is running great as always. The beautiful 413 engine is all original, with a new hose & battery some time ago & the recent tune up. She runs like a dream & is powerful. The original exterior paint still looks good, with no dents, but there are small nicks & also a few very tiny rust spots, smaller than your pencil eraser. The tires need replacement. All four original Wheel Covers are in great condition. The trunk was always in need of a hard close. Water had sat in the trunk when I hadn't been opening it & the carpet had to be removed, but the whole of the trunk is still good. There is a line of rust under the top of the lid, where the rubber had failed. The original carpeted cover for the spare tire is intact. The car has traveled perfectly to Vancouver, BC a few times, but mostly has been driven locally. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions & thanks for your interest. It is a gorgeous day in Seattle today & we will be back after dark. I will be adding new photographs, of the front end of the car & of our travels today.

Dodge Challenger spied exercising supercharged Hellcat Hemi V8

Wed, 23 Oct 2013

One of the prime complaints against the Dodge Challenger is that, even in SRT8 guise, its 470 horsepower is responsible for hauling over 4,200 pounds of vehicle. For comparison, the 420 hp in the Ford Mustang GT only has to deal with 3,618 lbs. Things only get worse from there, as the higher-performance variants of both the Mustang and the Chevrolet Camaro are far more powerful than an SRT8 without adding on much heft.
So what is Chrysler to do? The correct answer is add a whole lot more grunt to its hefty two-door and even the odds. That's where the all-new Hellcat engine comes into play. We reported on this engine in May, and suggested that the Hellcat, a supercharged powerplant based on a 6.4-liter V8, would easily generate 500 to 570 hp and could likely arrive boasting more than 600 ponies.
Chrysler's ace in its sleeve has now been spied testing, with a number of Hellcat-equipped Challengers running the potent new engine both in more urbanized areas and under the sun of Death Valley. The hoods on these testers have been raised to accommodate the engine, and that camouflage over the fascias of these prototypes is there to hide a larger air intake. We also note what appears to be a new split grille under wraps. As for power output, our spies are now suggesting a Viper-equalling 640 hp from the Hellcat-equipped cars.

Toyota, Ford not interested in FCA merger

Mon, Jun 15 2015

Sergio Marchionne will preach the benefits of mergers to anyone who'll listen, but his calls for industry consolidation may be falling on deaf ears. At least, that is, the ears of those who the Fiat Chrysler chief would most like to bend. Not only is General Motors uninterested, but according to The Detroit News, neither are Toyota or Ford. "It's something we would not be interested in," said Toyota's North American chief Jim Lentz, at the groundbreaking ceremony for the new Toyota Technical Center. "At 10 million (vehicles) we have enough scale right now to do what we need to do. There really would be no advantage for us." Toyota isn't the only one unenthused by the prospect of merging with Fiat Chrysler Automobiles. The Detroit News also reports that Ford, though it may yet to have been approached by Marchionne, wouldn't be interested either. "We're not a suitor for FCA," said Ford CFO Bob Shanks. "We don't see that type of opportunity as one that applies to us." With GM, Toyota, and Ford expressing disinterest in Marchionne's merger idea, the FCA chief will likely start looking elsewhere – or look for other ways to compel his primary candidate to reconsider. He may eventually find a partner – more likely in the Far East or within Europe – but it may not take the form of the major player Sergio has hoped for. Chrysler's Hurricane engine detailed ahead of 2016 launch

Fri, 20 Sep 2013

We've been hearing distant rumblings about Chrysler's new Hurricane engine for some time now, but details have been hard to come by. Now, Automotive News is adding some specifics to the scuttlebutt, citing Chrysler documents. According to the industry publication, the Hurricane will blow onto the scene in 2016, but it's not an all-new engine. Rather, it will be rooted in the company's existing 2.0-liter four-cylinder Tigershark powerplant (shown above), albeit with "many new technologies to achieve excellent fuel economy."
It's not clear what sort of technologies Chrysler is referring to, but the Hurricane is expected to continue to use an aluminum block, and the finished product is expected to generate even better figures than the existing 2.0-liter's 160 horsepower and 148 pound-feet of torque (as found in the Dodge Dart). Automotive News notes that the updated 2.4-liter Tigershark debuting in the entry-level 2014 Jeep Cherokee has its basis in the 2.0-liter lump, but unlike the smaller engine, it's been fitted with MultiAir2 electrohydraulic variable valve timing to realize 184 hp and 171 lb-ft and greater efficiency.
Perhaps the Hurricane will incorporate the latter in its bag of tricks? Either way, we're hoping for a more generous torque curve than the what's in the current 2.0-liter Tigershark, which is something of a slug in the Dart - even for a base economy compact.
