CAR'S OVERVIEW
  • You are viewing a 2005 Chrysler Crossfire 6 Speed Manual Transmission with only 56,000 miles.
  • Shares 85% of its parts with the Mercedes SLK 320 including its V6 engine and transmission.
  • Spoiler automatically goes up at 65 miles per hour and retracts below 35 miles per hour. There is a button on the console to put it up or down manually as well if you like the look better when driving through the town.
  • I have owned the car for a year and have put on only 8,000 miles! Adult owned! I bought the car completely stock. All modifications have been done in the past year that I have owned this car.
  • Engine and suspension are stock! There have been no modifications done there.
  • There are approximately 85 photos of this car below. Pictures speak a thousand words as they say! This car is truly one of a kind and it turns heads everywhere. I am only selling because I now need a truck for my new job.
  • There is one YOUTUBE video below which shows the sound of my custom exhaust and the transparency of the tail light tint. 5,000 views!

MAINTENANCE
  • 2 New Front Tires (Less then 200 miles)
  • 2 New Rear Tires (Less then 2,000 miles)
  • New Break Pads (Less then 200 miles)
  • New Oil Change (Less then 200 miles)
  • Chip In Windshield Repaired Last April By Safelight. It was filled in so it won't lead to a crack.

This is a savings of $1,200 for the new buyer.

UPGRADES
  • Custom Exhaust System
    • Upgraded piping from 2.25 to 2.50 for more flow. Added a Flowmaster Super 44 Muffler. Added C4 Corvette Tips. See YOUTUBE video below of the sound. Nearly 5,000 views!
  • Custom Sound System
    • Upgraded both door speakers and tweeters with Kenwood KFC-P709P 6.5 inch component speakers
    • Upgraded the head unit to a Kenwood Excelong KDC-X395
    • Installed a customKicker CVT6 6.5" 600 Watt Shallow Mount Subwoofers behind each seat into the back wall. These were installed to give the cars audio a fuller sound since all the speakers are in front ouf you. They do not touch the back of the seat and will not make your seat vibrate or any other parts of the car. No base Crossfire has subwoofers in it and any limited edition Crossfire definitely doesn't have upgraded subs or a sound system that sounds as crisp as this one.
    • Installed a custom mounted 600 watt Sony Xplod Amplifier to power the subwoofers. This is mounted on the angeld down back wall so it doesn't take up trunk space.
  • After Market Black Stainless Steel Mesh Grill
    • Completely changes the front end look of the car from any other Chrysler vehicle, let alone a Crossfire.
  • Window Tint
    • 5% tint on the rear glass window and quarter windows. The dark tint was used to prevent people from looking into the trunk. Safety first!
    • 35% tint on the front two windows. Not to dark or to light. Its shade depends on how the sun hits it, which the pictures show.
  • Tail Light and Side Markers Spray Tinted
    • These lights were done using a special paint where the lights look dark, almost black glass like, but allow turn signals, break lights, and backup lights to shine through like they were factory. See YOUTUBE video below that features the exhaust sound. The lights are tinted there.
  • Red Calipers
    • Calipers were painted red with Duplicolor caliper high temperature paint kit. Color won't fade.
  • Black Wheels
    • These are the factory wheels that were painted with a removable paint called Plasti Dip. If you haven't heard of the product do a Youtube or Google search. Everyone uses it. It comes out of a spray can in a liquid rubber form. When it sets it gives protection to the wheel underneath, a new changed color, and it is completely removable with no harm to the wheel! I just did 4 new coats to each wheel on 2/15/13. The paint should be good for a year if you decide to keep the wheels black.
  • Custom Hub Caps
    • I took off the lug cap cover to expose the lugs and make the wheels look more aftermarket and the car look sportier. To cover the exposed hub openings I used knock out plugs from Home Depot.
  • Debadged "Crossfire" Letters From Rear Hatch
    • Took them off because it makes the car look cleaner and sleeker in my opinion.
In all these modifications total approximately $2,500 and it all comes with the car!

ADDED ITEMS THAT COME WITH YOUR PURCHASE
  • Original Factory Radio
  • Flip Up License Plate Mount
    • Mounting brackets go under the bumper, instead of drilling holes into the bumper, and the license plate can flip up, or slide back underneath the car so it won't be seen. I bought it, but then decided to go with no license plate.
  • Cup Holder
    • These cars don't have cup holders, so I bought one that fits two cups and personal items. Just place it between the seat and center console and it stays in place.
  • Factory Manuals And Roadside Equipment
    • Manuals are in the glove compartment. Tire iron and tire pump are in the cargo area underneath the trunk floor mat.
  • Factory Lug Nut Covers
    • I took them off to expose the lug nuts.

Bob Lutz, UAW rep commend Chrysler for not bowing to NHTSA recall pressure [w/poll]

Mon, 10 Jun 2013

Bob Lutz, the well-known executive with a range of automakers including both General Motors and Chrysler, says he supports Chrysler for not caving under federal pressure to issue a recall on 2.7 million Jeep vehicles. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is arguing that the plastic fuel tanks positioned behind the axles of certain 1993-2004 Grand Cherokee models and 2002-2007 Liberty models may become punctured in a collision and potentially catch fire, so it has called upon Chrysler to recall the vehicles. 15 deaths and 46 injuries have been attributed to the issue. For its part, Chrysler has maintained that its models "met and exceeded" all safety applicable mandates when they were manufactured, and furthermore, they argue that the government agency's own data proves that the vehicles are no more dangerous than similar SUVs produced by other automakers at the time. As a result, it is taking the unusual step of refusing to recall the vehicles.
According to The Detroit News, Lutz says Chrysler is right to push back when the government is out of line. Lutz also said that he wished he could have done the same when NHTSA urged Chrysler to issue a recall on certain minivans back when he was with the automaker 25 years ago.
Meanwhile, United Auto Workers Vice President General Holiefield also defended Chrysler by saying, "Our legendary Jeeps are crafted with pride by our dedicated UAW American workforce who work tirelessly to ensure the utmost quality of each Jeep that is produced for customers."

Question of the Day: Ever consider driving a minivan?

Thu, May 12 2016

Since I'm supposed to know something about cars, it happens all the time: friends and relatives ask me advice about what kind of vehicle they should get. Very often, the only type of vehicle that can check every item on their wish list (e.g., hauls lots of people and stuff, gets good fuel economy, has great crash-test ratings, can take four Great Danes camping, and so on) is a modern minivan... and, of course, nobody wants to hear this. I'm not a minivan person, they will wail, and so they end up with a cramped, fuel-swilling SUV or a not-so-space-efficient minivan-in-disguise CUV. So, is it worth becoming one of those minivan people in order to get the incredible usefulness of these masterpieces of vehicle engineering, or do you hold your head high and drive something that doesn't quite meet your needs? Bosch fined $57.8 million by DOJ for price fixing and bid rigging

Tue, Mar 31 2015

The US Department of Justice has been investigating bid rigging and price fixing among automotive parts suppliers for years, and so far the agency has leveled nearly $2.5 billion in fines against 34 companies. The latest business to be caught in this ongoing crackdown is Germany's Robert Bosch GmbH (Bosch), the world's largest independent auto component maker, and it agrees to pay a $57.8 million criminal fine to the Feds. According to the DOJ, Bosch has agreed to plead guilty to pricing fixing and bid rigging for spark plugs and oxygen sensors supplied to the former DaimlerChrysler, Ford and General Motors. The rigging is said to have occurred between January 2000 and July 2011. Bosch also allegedly played foul with starter motors sold to Volkswagen from January 2009 until at least June 2010. Bosch and other companies allegedly conspired on the pricing for bids to submit to automakers, and sold the parts at noncompetitive prices. The DOJ filed a one-count felony charge in US District Court for these actions. The company's plea is still subject to court approval, though. Bosch is only the third European company to be charged in this investigation, according to the DOJ. So far, many of the fined businesses have been from Japan, including Takata, NGK and others. Some execs have claimed price-fixing has been the standard operating procedure in the auto parts industry for a long time. Robert Bosch GmbH Agrees to Plead Guilty to Price Fixing and Bid Rigging on Automobile Parts Installed in U.S. Cars Robert Bosch GmbH, the world's largest independent parts supplier to the automotive industry, based in Gerlingen, Germany, has agreed to plead guilty and to pay a $57.8 million criminal fine for its role in a conspiracy to fix prices and rig bids for spark plugs, oxygen sensors and starter motors sold to automobile and internal combustion engine manufacturers in the United States and elsewhere, the Department of Justice announced today. According to the one-count felony charge filed today in the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Michigan, Bosch conspired to allocate the supply of, rig bids for, and to fix, stabilize and maintain the prices of, spark plugs and oxygen sensors sold to automobile and internal combustion engine manufacturers such as DaimlerChrysler AG, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company and Andreas Stihl AG & Co., among others, in the United States and elsewhere.
