THIS IS A NICE RUST FREE MASERATI TC BY CHRYSLER THAT I PURCHASED IN 2002 AND HAS BEEN IN A CARPETED STORAGE BUILDING SINCE. I BECAME ILL SOON AFTER PURCHASE AND IT WAS PLACED IN STORAGE. FIRST OFF, THE CAR NEEDS SOME TLC. I WILL LIST ALL ITS FAULTS THE BEST I CAN. STORAGE BUILDING IS A LARGE COMMERCIAL ONE WITH ROLL UP DOORS. THESE DOORS ARE KEPT OPEN 2 DAYS A WEEK AND THE SUN HAS DETERIATED THE CLEAR COAT ON THE BACK EDGE OF THE DECK LID, SO IT WOULD NEED PAINTING.  ALL THE PLASTIC TAIL LIGHTS AND LENSES ARE BEAUTIFUL. THE ORIGINAL FLOOR MATS ARE INCLUDED (NOT SHOWN) AND IN EXCELLENT CONDITION. THE ENGINE COMPARTMENT NEEDS CLEANING AND DETAILING  AS DOES THE WHOLE CAR, ESPECIALLY THE STEERING WHEEL COVER WHICH IS VERY DIRTY BUT NOT TORN. THIS IS A NICE RUNNING AND DRIVING CAR, IT JUST HAS NOT HAD THE ATTENTION IT DESERVES.  THE ODOMETER STOPPED WORKING SHORTLY AFTER I PURCHASED THE CAR. IN THE YEARS I HAVE OWNED IT, I HAVE PLACED APPROXIMATELY 5-6000 MILES ON IT (OR LESS). THE PUSH BUTTONS ON THE CENTER CONSOLE THAT OPERATES THE 6- WAY POWER SEATS HAS CAME LOOSE AND HAS FALLEN INTO THE CONSOLE. IT NEEDS REPAIRED (CLIPS) THAT HOLDS IT IN PLACE. I ONLY DROVE THIS CAR OCCASSIONALY AND I NEVER HAD THE TOP OFF THE CAR EXCEPT THE DAY I PURCHASED IT. THE FOLDING TOP WAS BEAUTIFUL THEN AND PROBABLY STILL IS. THE HEADLINER ON THE HARD TOP IS GREAT CONDITION. ALL THE LIGHTS AND SIGNALS WORK AND THE WINDOWS GO UP AND DOWN AS THEY SHOULD ( I HAVE KEPT IT LICENSED, INSURED, AND INSPECTED THE WHOLE TIME I HAVE OWNED THE CAR). THIS CAR WOULD MAKE SOME ONE WHO HAS THE TIME TO DETAIL IT AND CLEAN IT PROPERLY, AN EXOTIC ITALIAN VEHICLE THAT WOULD ONLY INCREASE IN VALUE AS TIME GOES BY. I AM 77 YEARS OLD AND DO NOT HAVE THE TIME OR ENERGY TO DO IT. THE LEATHER INTERIOR SHOWS NORMAL WEAR BUT NOT BAD, THE LEATHER DASH IS ALMOST PERFECT EXCEPT FOR TWO SCRATCHES ON IT. THE WINDSHIELD IS CRACKED AND SHOULD BE REPLACED (AVAILABLE AT GLASS SHOPS FOR LESS THAN $200.00. THE TIRES ARE IN DECENT SHAPE AND NOT DRY ROTTED. THE RADIO WORKS, BUT THE ANTENNA WAS DISCONNECTED AND WON'T GO UP, AND I HAVE A NEW ANTENNA BUT HAVE NOT PUT IT ON. I HAD A 7 YEAR BATTERY PUT IN IN 2012., COMPLETELY SERVICED & TUNED UP ENTIRE ENGINE AREA IN 2005 AT COST OF $722.12, NEW A/C COMPRESSOR IN 2011 AND NEW ALTENATOR IN 2012. CAR WILL DRIVE ANYWHERE! ALL INVOICES FOR SERVICES PEFORMED, OWNERS HANDBOOK AND ORIGINAL WINDOW STICK WILL ACCOMPANY  THE CAR. PLEASE CALL OR EMAIL FOR FURTHER INFORMATION. I HAVE LOTS OF PHOTOS. IF YOU REQUIRE MORE, PLEASE ASK AND I WILL SEE WHAT I CAN DO. SHIPPING WILL BE AT THE COST OF THE BUYER. A $500.00 DEPOSIT WITHIN 72 HOURS IS REQUIRED. PLEASE ASK ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS, THEY WILL BE ANSWERED AS QUICKLEY AS POSSIBLE.

Chrysler recalls 2013 Ram pickups, 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Wed, 17 Jul 2013

Chrysler's spate of successful products is about to be marred by a trio of recalls. The Pentastar is recalling 51,477 Ram trucks and Jeep SUVs. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, there have been no reported accidents, injuries or deaths related to the affected vehicles.
The largest action covers the Ram 1500, which is seeing 45,961 trucks being recalled. Models built between June 26, 2012 and February 5, 2013 are being recalled due to a potential software issue in the electronic stability control. Apparently, the system can be randomly deactivated upon vehicle startup.
Chrysler is also recalling 4,458 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee models. Covering everything but the SRT models, the potentially defective SUVs were built between January 14 and March 20, 2013. This recall focuses on "premium headlights," which means cars equipped with LED running lights. During the switch from the bright daytime running lamp setting to the low-intensity parking light setting, an electrical spike can cause one of the Jeep's computers to go into a safe mode, turning off the LEDs. This violates Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards.

Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic

Mon, Oct 24 2016

Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. Ralph Gilles talks minivans, Millennials, mobility, and kissing Alfa Romeos

Fri, Jan 13 2017

We sat down with Ralph Gilles, the global head of design for Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, at the 2017 Detroit Auto Show. The veteran stylist has worked for the company for 25 years, and oversees the design of all of the products in the FCA portfolio – everything from mobility pods to Maseratis. This serves Gilles just fine, as his personal automotive interests are exceedingly diverse. The FCA stand was unusually quiet (until Vice President Joe Biden stopped by at the end of our time there) and Gilles was willing to weigh in on a wide range of subjects. Autoblog: We're seeing all of these autonomous mobility pods like Portal being presented at auto shows like CES or NAIAS, but we're not seeing any adoption of this kind of small vehicle in the market. What's your perspective on our pod-like autonomous future versus our truck-centric present? Ralph Gilles: Obviously I pay attention to the industry as much as your readers and yourself, and everyone has a take on the future. We had a debate, we could have done a supercar or something for pure sex appeal [ apparently that's also in the works], but we chose something practical, to really look at the future in a different perspective. We have these Millennials, a huge swath of people born between 1982 and 2004, and the oldest ones are turning 35 right about now, and a lot of them are having families later in life but when they have them they have a little more buying power, so it makes for an interesting cocktail. The one stipulation we had on the Portal project was that everyone had to be a Millennial to be on the team. So that excluded me, I had more of a coach role on the team. And to your point, the Portal in its current state as you see it is not going to be on the road tomorrow. But there's a lot of ideas, a lot of connectivity ideas, a lot of styling ideas, even lighting and technologies that will absolutely find their way into vehicles in the next few years. AB: Being a Detroiter, all of this attention we've had recently in Vegas, CES – I heard that they're maybe going to be running the show at the same time next year. Do you feel a little protective of the Detroit Show? RG: Yeah, it's something to watch. I hope it's not an aggressive thing on their part, by moving the shows on top of each other. They're both important shows. CES, I've been going to for the last five years, and it's changing. There's a lot more automotive content, but there are a lot more start-ups too, and it's interesting to watch.
