FOR SALE – 1929 Chrysler “65” 4 door
This rust free gem was stored by the two previous owners in a dry barn. I first saw this car in 1971 and I later bought it in 2005. The frame off professional restoration was completed in 2011 and has always been kept in a heated garage. A complete restoration photo album will answer all questions about this solid piece of history which contains over 200 pictures of the professional frame-off restoration. The car's previous owner history is documented. All parts are correct and original to this car. Everything is new including: brakes, exhaust, pristine chrome..., car is back in almost 100% original condition as is was the day it came off the line in 1929. This Chrysler sports pristine Marquette blue paint with a black fenders and trim beautifully accented with ivory pinstripes. The interior will take you back in time with Lebaron Bonney gray mohair upholstery that complements the grand style of this 4 door. It drives and runs excellent with only 24,100 original miles on the speedometer. The car has been shown at two small local car shows. This stunning Chrysler “65” is ready for a new owner to enjoy and show. I will consider all reasonable offers. Also included with the car is a photo album, tools, extra parts, custom fitted California Car Cover, and a wealth of printed information. No expense was spared for the restoration, you will not find a better more original 1929 Chrysler anywhere. It has always been stored in a climate controlled garage. This Chrysler will complete at that highest level at AACA events. |

Google's new Android Autos OS unveiled, will be in cars this year [w/video]
Wed, 25 Jun 2014Connected cars are coming en-masse. We know this much. How, though, remains something of an open question, especially as two of the world's largest tech companies are preparing to battle for control of your car's dashboard. On the one hand, we have Apple and its CarPlay system. And now, we know what Google has been working on with Auto Link.
Its new name is Android Auto, and yes, it's based off the Android architecture that is the primary challenger to Apple's iOS mobile operating system. Announced at Google's I/O conference today, Android Auto functions similarly to CarPlay - owners will need to plug their smartphones into their cars to access the full breadth of capability.
In Android Auto's case, that means a wealth of voice controls to limit distracted driving. Google's marquee apps will be available when the interface arrives in production models later this year, including Google Play Music, Google Maps and voice-activated texting and text playback. Meanwhile, developers will be able to begin designing custom apps for the new system via an upcoming software development kit.
Marchionne offers belated apology for 'wop engine' comment
Wed, 22 May 2013Automotive News reports Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne has issued a written apology for his comments regarding his decision to stick with an Italian engine for the upcoming Alfa Romeo 4C. As you may recall, back in January, Marchionne was quoted as saying, "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it has to be a wop engine." The CEO penned an apology to the Italian American ONE VOICE Coalition for using the racial epithet, saying that he made the comment in jest. Marchionne also said he realizes his remarks were unacceptable.
ONE VOICE, an organization aimed at fighting discrimination and stereotyping of Italian Americans, thanked Marchionne, Chrysler and Fiat for the apology. Marchionne is an Italian-born Canadian citizen, and he's gotten in trouble for other comments in the past. In 2011, he called high interest rates Chrysler was paying to the Canadian government "shyster rates." He apologized a day later.
Marchionne uses racial epithet to describe what must power future Alfa Romeo models
Wed, 16 Jan 2013Sergio Marchionne and his Fiat empire have a lot riding on the US return of the Alfa Romeo brand. The endeavor has been in progress for what feels like a lifetime - certainly for as long as Fiat has had the Chrysler brand under its Italian wing.
It's not surprising that Fiat CEO Marchionne needs a perfect first Alfa to mark a return to America. And here's where things get dicey. Nobody would argue with Marchionne's insistence that Alfa Romeo's be powered by Italian engines - as Marchionne himself is quoted to have said at the 2013 Detroit Auto Show, "There are some things that are well done in Italy."
If not what he said, then, it's how he said it that has eyebrows raised. "I cannot come up with a schlock product, I just won't. I won't put an American engine into that car. With all due respect to my American friends, it needs to be a wop engine." Wait, what's that?
