7 Passenger, Rwd No Rust on 2040-cars
Melbourne, Florida, United States
I have had this SUV since she was 6 months old with 17,000 miles. We have a lot of history together. She has been an excellent vehicle for me. But she is getting old. She has an engine light on, my mechanic implies it is not worth the cost of fixing, basically there is a small leak in the system that pressurizes the tank. She also exhibits oil pressure loss. during long cross state trips in the middle of the day, while towing, when she is stopped at a stop light for a long time. Again, my mechanic says it's not worth fixing. The plastic molding on the door panels is showing its age. She has a very small surface rust on the hood where a paint chip left the vehicle years ago. (about the size of a corn seed).
In the time that I have owned her, I have replaced the transmission (at 100,000 miles) replaced the clutch fan (4 times) replaced the water pump (twice) changed the spark plugs (twice, latest recently) She has two new tires, two need replacement soon (but not critical) redid the brakes, (fluid, pads and rotors) the back window fell off, (It was professionally glued back together) the pneumatic tubes holding up the back window have been replaced. the wiper control module replaced. window motors driver side replaced. Both back tail lights replaced (now LED) Had body work from some accidents. All professionally done, no frame work. All lifetime warrantied. Ten years and 180,000 miles is a long time. I can't guarantee I've listed everything. She is a nice vehicle. She has served me very well. She will serve you well too. |

Race Recap: 2013 Twelve Hours of Sebring, cakewalk up front, grindfest out back [w/spoilers]
Tue, 19 Mar 2013This year's 12 Hours of Sebring wasn't exactly a foregone conclusion because we're still talking about racing, and anything can happen when the speeds are as high as the adrenaline and the desire. But we're still talking about Audi bringing it's two top-spec racers - and its huge budget and its nearly neurotic attention to detail - to a race that it uses as a test bed for The 24 Hours of Le Mans and as a way to open the endurance racing season with a victory.
Besides, 12 hours is a long time, especially at Sebring, and things didn't go all Audi's way. On top of that, although it was a pretty quiet race, behind the Audis things got even grimier, with plenty of battles, plenty of mechanical issues, and the new BMW Z4 GTE and Viper GTS-R being race tested. Oh, and that brand new chromed-out DeltaWing...
Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?
Thu, Jun 23 2016The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! Next-gen Chevy Volt will get 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine
Tue, Oct 28 2014As General Motors gets ready to unveil the new Chevy Volt at the Detroit Auto Show in January, it's starting to reveal a few more details about the updated plug-in hybrid. Today should be fruitful on that front, thanks to an event GM is hosting today that focuses on the new Volt, and we've just had the first bit of new: a bigger engine is coming. Since the beginning, the Volt has used a 1.4-liter, four-cylinder engine as a range extender when the battery runs dry. The second-generation model will instead get a slightly larger 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine that will be built in Flint, MI. That's a step up from the various engines that have been a part of the 2016 Volt's rumored mills, everything from a 1.0-liter or 1.2-liter three-cylinder to a 2.0-liter turbo. The confirmation about the new 1.5-liter powerplant was found in Automotive News, where we also heard again that GM is going to start building the new Volt's electric drive unit in Detroit, moving production up from Mexico. We will have more information on the 2016 Chevy Volt later today.
