1996 Chevy Tahoe two door. This Tahoe is in excellent condition for its age and mileage. We bought this Tahoe from an Arizona dealer in 2008. We believe it was a California vehicle before coming to its current home in Arizona. It has always been well taken care of and serviced regularly. It starts and runs perfectly and is very reliable. All accessories work, cold A/C, cruise control, 4x4. JCV HD Head unit with 400 watt Alpine amp, Pyle sub woofer box in back. This truck rides smooth and is comfortable to drive.
Items recently replaced / rebuilt:
- New battery in mid 2012
- New Radiator
- Transmission rebuilt in late 2011 - less than 3,000 miles since rebuild
- New A/C compression, dryer and condenser early 2011
Items of interest and full disclosure:
- Tires will need to be replaced soon
- There is a small engine oil leak towards the rear of the engine. Doesn't leave a puddle, but several drops after sitting overnight.
- As you can see in the pictures, there are some small rust areas on the roof near the luggage rack attaching points. These are the only areas of rust I have seen on the entire truck. Not sure if this area is prone to rust or not. Being in Arizona, rust isn't an issue.
- The steering wheel isn't perfectly centered. This occurred when a local shop replaced the tie rod ends and failed to center the wheel. It is just a little off to one side instead of being centered when you are driving in a straight line.
- The driver seat is power and it is weak. Moves very slowly and sometimes needs assistance.
- The passenger door power window switch does not work, however, the switch on the driver door for the passenger window works fine.
- Window tint on the rear side windows is starting to peel as noted in the pictures
- When turning sharp left, there is sometimes a clunking noise. This doesn't happen frequently and is probably a CV joint on the front axle but would need to be examined to be sure.
- Paint on hood is starting to spider. You can't see it in the pictures. This is very minimal.
This is a fun truck that could be used as a daily driver. I would feel comfortable jumping in this truck and taking it anywhere.

Best car infotainment systems: From UConnect to MBUX, these are our favorites
Sun, Jan 7 2024Declaring one infotainment system the best over any other is an inherently subjective matter. You can look at quantitative testing for things like input response time and various screen load times, but ask a room full of people that have tried all car infotainment systems what their favorite is, and you’re likely to get a lot of different responses. For the most part, the various infotainment systems available all share a similar purpose. They aim to help the driver get where they're going with navigation, play their favorite tunes via all sorts of media playback options and allow folks to stay connected with others via phone connectivity. Of course, most go way beyond the basics these days and offer features like streaming services, in-car performance data and much more. Unique features are aplenty when you start diving through menus, but how they go about their most important tasks vary widely. Some of our editors prefer systems that are exclusively touch-based and chock full of boundary-pushing features. Others may prefer a back-to-basics non-touch system that is navigable via a scroll wheel. You can compare it to the phone operating system wars. Just like some prefer Android phones over iPhones, we all have our own opinions for what makes up the best infotainment interface. All that said, our combined experience tells us that a number of infotainment systems are at least better than the rest. WeÂ’ve narrowed it down to five total systems in their own subcategories that stand out to us. Read on below to see our picks, and feel free to make your own arguments in the comments. Best infotainment overall: UConnect 5, various Stellantis products Ram 1500 Uconnect Infotainment System Review If thereÂ’s one infotainment system that all of us agree is excellent, itÂ’s UConnect. It has numerous qualities that make it great, but above all else, UConnect is simple and straightforward to use. Ease of operation is one of the most (if not the single most) vital parts of any infotainment system interface. If youÂ’re expected to be able to tap away on a touchscreen while driving and still pay attention to the road, a complex infotainment system is going to remove your attention from the number one task at hand: driving. UConnect uses a simple interface that puts all of your key functions in a clearly-represented row on the bottom of the screen. Tap any of them, and it instantly pulls up that menu.
GM recalling 118K Colorado, Canyon pickups over missing hood latches
Thu, 20 Dec 2012General Motors has announced a recall of 118,800 Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon pickup trucks due to the possibility of secondary hood latches not being installed at the time of manufacture. The affected vehicles are from the 2010, 2011 and 2012 model years, all of which were built between November 9, 2009 and August 28, 2012.
According to the official National Highway Traffic Safety Administration report, these trucks fail to "comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 113, 'Hood Latch System.' The hood may be missing the secondary hood latch." In other words, owners of these trucks could find their vehicles' hoods opening unexpectedly while driving.
The official recall campaign is expected to begin on January 17, 2013. Dealers will inspect the affected pickups and if a secondary hood latch is not present, one will be installed free of charge. Scroll down to read the official NHTSA report.
2016 Chevy Volt will not need premium gas
Wed, Oct 29 2014Buried in the new technical details of the 2016 Chevy Volt released yesterday was a throwaway line about a small but important change that's due to the new 1.5-liter, four-cylinder engine. The first-gen Volt has always required premium gas but the new powerplant will be happy burning plain old regular. The Volt's chief engineer, Andrew Farah, told AutoblogGreen that the change was due to today's Volt owners explaining they were not happy paying for top-shelf petroleum. "The ability to use regular unleaded was based directly on customer feedback," he said. "Since the range extender is an all-new engine, it was optimized to use regular unleaded at the outset. Using regular fuel will not have effect on vehicle acceleration or other performance factors." As Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification, told AutoblogGreen yesterday, the new engine is more powerful and quieter than the outgoing 1.4-liter engine that's used in the current Volt. Fuel economy and EV range specs for the next-gen Volt are not expected until the full car is revealed at the Detroit Auto Show in January.
