This is the perfect 4x4 SUV for just about anything.  It has the power to tow, the factory off road package, and room inside for 5 adults to sit comfortably.  I bought this truck last June when I sold my pickup so I could tow my Waverunners and make the occasional trips to Home Depot.  The truck served it function well, but I have decided to start a lawn care business on the side and will need another pickup, so the Tahoe must go.  I bought this truck intended to fully restore it, and it is the perfect truck to do this with because of it being a Florida truck with none of the typical northern rust.  I have done some of the work, which I will list below, but there is some remaining.  I  am offering this at No Reserve, so it should be a great deal, especially for those of you up north still requiring 4WD.  I have Clear Title in hand.

Overall mechanical condition of the truck is good.  Brand New Transfer Case Motor, 4WD Selector Switch, Idler and Pitman Steering Arms, A/C Belt Tensioner and Belt, and Transmission Flush.  Additionally my mechanic replaced the rear main engine seal as it developed a slight oil leak.  The truck now has no leaks.  The only items identified by my mechanic to replace that have not been done  are Front Struts, followed by an alignment and front tires.  The truck currently pulls slightly right, and has worn out the front tires because of this.  Additionally the rear wiper is not working.  Other than that everything is in good mechanical condition.

Cosmetically the truck is clean, but still needs some TLC to be perfect.  The good news is there is no rust on this truck aside from where the paint is missing on the rear bumper.  The underside and engine bay are amazingly clean for a 12 year old truck.  The exterior has some dents which are shown in the pictures, and it needs a paint job.  The passenger side rear cap for the luggage rack is missing as well. The alloy wheels show some cracking in the clear coat (cosmetic only).

The interior restoration was begun by me.  I replaced all the carpet with better than OEM material.  The rear seats were replaced because of problems with the folding mechanism on the old ones.  The new ones fold and stow as designed.  The dash was completely removed and striped, and then repainted, so none of the typical peeling paint on the dash that is typical with these trucks.  The front seats still need to be replaced (although the do operate properly) and some of the rear cargo trim.  The headliner is beginning to sag as well.  All of the windows work properly as well.  Cruise control works.  A/C blows cold.

The stereo was replaced with a new Kenwood CD Player with USB and Aux inputs on the front.  It has a remote control as well.  I bypassed the factory amplifier as it wasn't working (common problem in these trucks), so the head unit powers all of the speakers now.

Chevrolet offers versions of its Express passenger van with B20 biodiesel and E85 capability. Customers can buy the van with the Duramax turbodiesel V8, which is compatible with the 20-percent biodiesel blend. There is also a FlexFuel V8, which can use the 85-percent ethanol gasoline blend. It's a great option for shuttling the whole soccer team to practice using renewable fuels. Read more at Domestic Fuels. Early buyers of the Cadillac ELR in Canada will get a 240-volt charger installed at their home for free. It should help convince some buyers to adopt the range extended luxury EV. Cadillac's Chief Marketing Officer Uwe Ellinghaus says, "Professional installation of the fastest home-charging unit is a natural way to mark the introduction of ELR to the luxury market." Read more in the press release below. Renovo has received venture capital funding from California-based True Ventures to build its Coupe electric supercar. The impressive EV, with its 500 horsepower and 1,000 pound-feet of torque, is an inspiring vehicle built by a promising company, according to its financial backers. Toni Schneider of True Ventures says that Renovo has "created incredibly advanced technology and a beautiful machine that is well positioned to disrupt the automotive market." Germany has lifted its ban on Uber. While the German court believes the ride-hailing service is operating illegally without proper licensing for drivers, it says Taxi Deutschland waited too long to file the case against Uber. The taxi association plans to appeal the decision soon. See more in the video below, and read more at The New York Times. A new report from UC Davis claims that a global expansion of public transit could save 1,700 megatons of carbon dioxide yearly and over $100 trillion by 2050. A "high-shift scenario" would be necessary, wherein governments invest in rail and clean buses, expand biking and walking infrastructure and shift focus away from projects that encourage car use. This shift to public transit would especially be important in the US, China and India. Read more in the press release below.

Hot Wheels' Twitter-enabled vending machine coughs up free Camaro diecasts

Wed, 27 Feb 2013

There are still plenty of companies that haven't gotten the whole social media thing down pat yet, but Hot Wheels isn't one of them. During the recent Canadian International Auto Show in Toronto, Hot Wheels created a lot of buzz for itself by using a vending machine filled with Chevrolet Camaro models, but instead of money to get the cars, show attendees just had to use Twitter.
To get the free car, people were asked to send a tweet to Hot Wheels Canada saying what they liked about the new Hot Wheels Edition Camaro, and including the #ChevyCIAS hashtag. This seemed to be a popular marketing tool, too, as AdWeek reports that the @HotWheelsCanada account more than tripled in followers during the course of the 10-day show. Looking ahead, this could open up even more innovative marketing possibilities using social media.
Check out the video posted below to watch how it works, and while the auto show has ended and the free-car giveaway has too, we're almost certain that some of the 1,500 freebies will make their way onto eBay.

Recharge Wrap-up: Panasonic, Tesla on Gigafactory deal?

Bentley has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for reductions of carbon, water use and waste production in manufacturing. The Carbon Trust is an organization that helps groups such as businesses and governments reduce carbon emissions, use of energy and resources, and waste output. From 2011 to 2013, Bentley reduced CO2 emissions by 16 percent per car manufactured, curtailed water use by 35.7 percent, and saw significant waste reductions. Darran Messem of Carbon trust says, "Bentley is clearly passionate about continuing to improve its environmental performance, which is reflected by the fact the company has consistently invested in new technology." Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet is giving 12 Volts to MBAs Across America. The organization will use the range-extended electric cars in its efforts to help MBA students learn from and work with small business owners. As part of the MBAs Across America program's first year, four students drove 8,000 miles to provide entrepreneurs with free business counseling. The program has expanded, and this year, teams of MBAs will use the Volts to travel to 25 cities to offer their services. Learn more about the partnership between Chevrolet and MBAs Across America in the press release below. A professor from the University of Michigan has found fuel cycle analysis to be too flawed to be relied upon for measuring CO2 impacts of transportation fuels. Professor John DeCicco of the university's Energy Institute feels that the flaws in calculating the carbon footprint of liquid fuel production and combustion make such lifecycle analysis impractical. He suggests, instead, to focus to carbon capture. Since capturing CO2 directly from a vehicle is probably never going to happen, DiCicco believes the solution is to capture carbon from the atmosphere in sectors outside of transportation. Says DiCicco, "Research should be ramped up on options for increasing the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and on programs to manage and utilize carbon fixed in the biosphere, which offers the best CO2 removal mechanism now at hand. Such strategies can complement measures that control the demand for liquid fuels by reducing travel activity, improving vehicle efficiency and shifting to non-carbon fuels." Read more at Green Car Congress. Global transportation energy consumption is expected to increase by 25.4 percent by 2035, according to a report by Navigant Research.
