1998 Chevrolet Tahoe 2
You will be hard pressed to find a 2 Door Tahoe in Better Mechanical Condition!
This is a Desert Car so there is NO RUST!
NO LEAKS!
This Tahoe was acquired approximately 2 years ago by my husband. It was not running at the time and had sat for approximately 3 years as the previous owners could not afford to fix the transmission. My husband is an ASE certified Automobile Technician with a decade of professional experience with numerous years in GM dealerships. This truck has been meticulously maintained, repaired and upgraded since we acquired it. It was our daily driver for about 2 years. The body on the truck is straight and it has a clear Nevada title. We are only selling it because we have a small child and I needed a car with 4 doors that would allow me easily get our son in and out of his car seat.
The transmission was rebuilt at approximately 89,000 miles - when we obtained the vehicle. It was fully rebuilt and upgraded! The transmission rebuild includes:
- The sun shell was replaced with a "BEAST" Sun Shell - The factory sun shell has a weak point that often breaks causeing the vehicle to have NO 2nd or 4th gears and NO Reverse. This upgraded part ensures the sun shell does not break again!
- All Clutches and Steels were replaced during the transmission rebuild. INCLUDING using the Raybestos Z Pak (tm) 3/4 Clutch Packs. This aftermarket upgrade allows for improved towing capability as well as improved life of the transmission due to lower heat in the transmission.
- The Servo was replaced with a performance "Corvette" Servo to allow for better shifting and improved transmission life.
All Seals and gaskets in the transmission were replaced on the rebuild. - Transmission Band Replaced
- Re-manufactured Torque Convertor Installed.
All of these parts in the transmission make this an EXCELLENT vehicle to tow with! The tow package is already installed!
In addition to the full transmission rebuild the vehicle has had numerous other repairs since we obtained the vehicle. These include:
- Replacement of the fuel pump with an AcDelco (factory) part - aftermarket fuel pumps are known to fail in a very short period of time
- Replacement of the Radiator
- Replacement of the Intake Gasket - a very common problem of General Motors Vehicles of this year, but a very expensive (labor intensive) repair. The gasket was replaced with the updated metal version so that this problem will not occur again.
- Replacement of the A/C Compressor with an AcDelco part as well as seals in the A/C system - Thus this vehicle should have nice COLD A/C for a long time!
- Replacement of charging system components including the battery, battery cables and alternator.
- Spark Plugs have been replaced with AcDelco Double Platinum Plugs (should not need to replace spark plugs for 100,000 miles
- Fuel Pressure Regulator has been replaced
- The Spider Injectors have been upgraded from the original CSFI injector setup to the MPFI setup with an AcDelco part- the original design had poppet nozzles that commonly became clogged with carbon causing numerous problems with driving the vehicle - The new design keeps carbon from building up on the injectors eliminating the need for a costly repair.
- Replacement of the pressure power steering hose. (done less than 500 miles ago)
- Replacement of the oil cooler hoses. (done less than 500 miles ago)
- Replacement of the front brakes with ceramic pads (done less than 500 miles ago)
- The vehicle has had routine services performed with the correct fluids as well
- Regular oil changes with synthetic fluid
- Front and Rear differentials serviced with synthetic fluid
- Transmission filled with Valvoline Maxlife ATF on rebuild
- Transfer case serviced with Valoline Maxlife ATF
- Extended Life Coolant installed
- Brake system serviced with synthetic fluid
From a reciept that was in the glove box we also noticed that several repairs were done just prior to the transmission going out and the vehicle sitting. This included front shocks which were replaced with Monroe Sens Trac, which gives improved handling of the vehicle
Additionally, this vehicle has never had an aftermarket radio or alarm system installed. Therefore, it does not have wiring or electrical issues that tend to come when these items are installed. My husband has thouroghly looked over the vehicle and fixed the things that needed attention such as the front brakes and the small leaks at the power steering and oil cooler lines. The vehicle has no strange noises and the engine, transmission and 4x4 run solid. There is no smoke. There are no warning lights and the vehicle will pass emissions tests. All of the common issues for this vehicle that are all quite expensive have occured and been repaired with parts that help ensure the problems do not re-occur. It is quite common for Chevy and GMC trucks and SUVs to hit 300,000 miles without replacing the engine. If you take care of this SUV it will go for a long time only needing minor repairs. The ride in this vehicle is also very comfortable. It was much prefered over other vehicles for long car rides!
This Tahoe is in good physical condition for its age. We updated the wheels to 17" rims from a Chevy Avalanche. The front seats were re-upulstered and have only been ridden in to wash the vehicle, the rear seat has no rips or tears. However, it does have its' flaws. There are minor parking dents and scratches on the vehicle. The paint has cracking which is especially evident on the hood and roof, which is fairly common. Some of the plastic, such as that on the grill has some discoloration. The carpet does have some staining, however, the front floor mats are included which cover alot of it. Due to the vehicle sitting in the HOT Las Vegas sun for 3 years there is some damage to interior plastic pieces such as the driver's door panel, some cup holders, ashtrays, and knobs. However, the truck presents quite nicely. Additionally, the truck will need tires fairly soon (i.e. about 10% left). We did not want to put on tires since we were selling and the fact that there are a variety of uses for this vehicle which would make a difference if the purchacer wanted street tires or off road tires exc.

EarthCruiser adds a bigger camper option to its heavy duty pickup line
Tue, Sep 29 2020EarthCruiser is a camper and expedition vehicle company based out of Oregon that we've previously covered for its huge commercial truck-based machines. But they offer more than that, from drop-in campers for smaller pickups to heavy duty pickup conversions. The company's latest product is one of the latter, offering a larger camping area than the current EXD model. This new camper conversion is called the Terranova. The big differentiator between it and the EXD is the camper section, which extends over the truck cab on the Terranova. This means that bed space can be moved to above the truck cab, instead of having to use a convertible dinette. So less reconfiguring, and generally more usable space. One other major difference is that the EXD is only available for the Ram 3500 and Ford F-350. The Terranova is being designed for both of those trucks as well as the Chevy Silverado 3500. The EarthCruiser Terranova is otherwise very similar to other EarthCruiser models. The camper section is made of fiberglass and plastic, and the pop-up roof is insulated with foam. The curtains are triple-layered. The company says it can house four people. It comes with a freshwater tank and pump to help supply the kitchen sink, drinking water tap, bathroom sink and indoor and outdoor showers. There's also a cassette toilet. The kitchen features an induction stove top and small refrigerator and freezer. A fan system is standard, and air conditioning is optional. Power comes from a 400-aH lithium-ion battery. The Terranova isn't yet available. EarthCruiser is finishing up design and engineering, and it plans to have finished examples early next year. The company is taking reservations now, though. Pricing hasn't been announced, but an EXD runs between $220,000 and $265,000, and we would expect the Terranova to cost even more. Chevy Silverado gets star-studded treatment at SEMA
Tue, Nov 3 2015Chevrolet has quite a presence ready for the 2015 SEMA Show, including custom takes on the Camaro and Spark. As one of the company's most popular models, the Silverado isn't left out of the fun, either, thanks to a trio of concepts to highlight what's possible for the aftermarket event. Camouflage is supposed to blend in, but the naval-inspired, Razzle Dazzle design on the Silverado Special Ops Concept should make the truck pop under the lights at the Las Vegas Convention Center. Based on a Silverado 1500 Z71, the pickup is conceived as a "rescue vehicle special-operations forces." To get behind enemy lines, it packs extra LED lighting, wheel flares for off-road tires, and a GearOn utility rack in the bed. Plus to help get away, Chevy Performance fits an air intake, exhaust kit, and concept six-piston brakes. The Silverado Realtree Bone Collector Concept (above) also wears camo for SEMA, but it's for enjoying the outdoors rather than getting out of battle. Camouflage company Realtree and The Bone Collector host Michael Waddell help with the design for this custom truck that features 22-inch black wheels, a front push bar, LED light bar, and assist steps all from Chevy Accessories. With leather upholstery, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto inside, the drive to and from the woods should be comfortable, as well. The Silverado 3500HD Kid Rock Concept rounds out this trio and features patriotic styling from the eponymous rock star. "I wanted the design for the truck to be bold, but with features and elements that wouldn't be out of reach for working-class guys," he said about the design, and Kid Rock even visited the factory in Flint, MI, to meet members from UAW Local 598 for some inspiration. The result features a custom chrome grille with a Born Free logo and chrome exhaust stacks. For added excitement, two Gibbs Sports Quadskis are hooked up on the trailer behind it. It is based on the Silverado 1500 Z71, which features a new front-end design and new technologies built into its strong, high-strength steel body structure and fully boxed frame, and draws its design inspiration from naval design aesthetics.
