Extremely rare QUADRASTEER 2003 Chevy Suburban 2500 LT 4x4
Do NOT let the mileage scare you...this suburban is in mechanically excellent condition. Due in part to meticulous service/maintenance of course but also because the first owner flat towed it behind a diesel RV for the majority of the first 100K. This added miles to the odometer but not to the majority of the drivetrain components. Synthetic fluids were always used where possible. Also, please check my feedback history, my reputation (on eBay and everywhere else) is very important to me and you can trust that what I say is true and if you have a problem I will do whatever I can to make it right.
When we bought this SUV I searched for months trying to find a Quadrasteer suburban. I absolutely love this vehicle and will miss it. The 4 wheel steering system makes this drive like a much smaller vehicle. It has a very tight turning radius and my wife and daughter both love driving it. We are selling it because we needed an 8 passenger vehicle and this is just 1 shy with the luxurious quad captains chairs.
This 3/4 Ton suburban was ordered with every option available and had a window sticker of nearly $60,000 back in 2003. The only option missing is the sunroof but that wasn't available with the DVD entertainment system from the manufacturer back then. I added an electronic trailer brake controller as well as a stereo system upgrade with DVD player, Navigation, amplifier and subwoofer. A year ago we spent over two grand on the audio/visual including an Alpine unit which was one of the best (and most expensive) units the stereo shop offered. I paid extra to maintain the steering wheel controls. I also added remote start which is really nice in the winter.
For a 10 year old SUV you should expect some dings and normal wear. However there are a few minor issues. Pictured, you will notice a dent in the bumper from turning too tightly with a trailer, additionally you will notice a scratch on the fender flare from rubbing up against a mailbox while backing out of a driveway. When I bought it about 4 years ago there was an issue with the dash cluster that is a known problem for Chevys of this vintage. I had the dash cluster completely rebuilt a little over a year ago and everything now works flawlessly. For some reason the power driver seat is wired backwards and when you slide the lever to go forward the seat goes backwards (and vice versa). You get used to it. There are a couple of lights in the dash that need bulbs. The Goodyear LRE tires need to be replaced soon and if you want them replaced before you pick it up, I can replace them for around $165 each for regular grade or for about $180 each for Michelins. Depending upon the temperature the passenger side power extending mirror needs help going out/in.
Here is a list of JUST SOME of the luxury features on this SUV:
- Dual zone automatic climate control and rear automatic A/C that can be controlled from the front or rear
- In Dash Blue Tooth DVD stereo with iPod/iPhone input controls
- Back up camera
- GPS with Turn by Turn Navigation
- Kicker amplifier powers the subwoofer which can easily moved or removed for cargo space
- Rear Seat DVD system with wireless headphones
- Heated Power Leather front seats
- Quad captains chairs with 3rd row bench
- Heavy duty tow package which includes a transmission cooler, 4.10 differential and power extended mirrors with integrated turn signals
- much, much more... (it's worth a google)
This is a 3/4 Ton that can be used for heavy duty towing in comfort and style. 10,000-12,000 pounds safely. It has the DANA 60 rear end and the heavy duty 4L80E transmission with heavy duty 8 lug hubs and hydro-assist brakes.
I recently replaced the alternator, rear steering tie rod ends, brakes/rotors (Napa's best line) and transmission cooler lines. It runs and drives like a new truck and I have confidence it will give you years of trouble free ownership. Please call me with any questions or concerns you have and I would be glad to answer them. 785-215-4245 I will also help with arranging delivery or will meet you at the Kansas City International Airport. You won't be disappointed. I reserve the right to end the auction early as it is for sale locally as well. Quadrasteer suburbans have consistently sold for much more than my buy it now price. I listed it for quick sale because we have already bought a new (8 passenger) vehicle to replace it.
Thanks for looking,
Greg

GM’s Charlie Wilson was right: Stronger regulations can help U.S. automakers
Fri, Oct 26 2018Charlie Wilson had been the president and CEO of General Motors before being nominated to become secretary of defense by Dwight Eisenhower. During his Senate confirmation hearings, he controversially said, "For years I thought what was good for our country was good for General Motors, and vice versa." And he was right. While car companies aren't necessarily the most progressive when it comes to things that might have the slightest possibility of political blowback, General Motors should be credited for doing something absolutely forthright in this regard with its announcement that it wants the federal U.S. government not to squash the California Air Resources Board's emissions requirements but to actually create a 50-state "National Zero Emissions Vehicle" program that, in the words of Mark Reuss, executive vice president and president, Global Product Group and Cadillac, "will drive the scale and infrastructure investments needed to allow the U.S. to lead the way to a zero emission future." Filing comments to the Safer Affordable Fuel-Efficient Vehicles Rule for Model Years 2021-2026 Passenger Cars and Light Trucks is one thing. But a graphic the company developed for this announcement — shown above — is something else entirely, something that is absolutely credible, creative and clever. There is a photo of a Chevrolet Bolt EV driving along a highway, which seems to be in Marin County (based on the blurred San Francisco skyline in the background). Text on the photo states: "It's Time for American Leadership in Zero Emissions Vehicles." It seems to say, in effect, "If we want to make America great again, then we're going to do it by leading in technology, not by retreating behind weakened regulations." General Motors understands that the auto market is globally competitive, and if U.S.-based companies are going to be in the game, then they'd better be able to out-innovate the companies based elsewhere, where emissions and economy standards are not being weakened. What's good for our country ... Related Video:
GM struggles to sell small cars, plans to lay off 2,084 employees at two plants
Thu, Nov 10 2016Due to low demand for some of its vehicles, General Motors plans to cut 2,084 jobs at its assembly plants in Lordstown, OH and Lansing, MI. At the same time, the automaker also announced plans to invest approximately $900 million in three of its facilities – the Toledo Transmission Operations in Ohio, Bedford Casting Operations in Indiana, and Lansing Grand River in Michigan - for future products. GM will discontinue the third shift at both the Lansing Grand River plant and the Lordstown, OH plant. The Cadillac ATS, Cadillac CTS, and Chevrolet Camaro are made at the automaker's plant in Michigan, which currently has 2,700 employees. The move to eliminate the third shift affects 810 hourly workers, as well as 29 salaried employees, starting on January 16th. The plant in Lordstown, OH currently has 4,500 employees and makes the Chevrolet Cruze sedan. The plan to discontinue the third shift will affect 43 salaried workers and 1,202 hourly employees and will start on January 23rd. As Fortune points out, sales of the Cruze are down 20 percent through October, while sales of the Cadillac ATS and CTS were down 17 percent through the same period of time. In addition to cutting the third shift at both assembly plants, the automaker plans to invest a total of $900 million between three of its facilities for unnamed future products. GM's Toledo Transmission Operations will receive $667.6 million, the Lansing Grand River Assembly plant will receive $211 million, and the automaker's Bedford Casting Operations will get $37 million. Last year, GM cut roughly 500 jobs from its Orion Township factory due to slow sales of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, with surging crossover and SUV sales as the most likely culprit. With GM posting much healthier sales figures for the Chevrolet Equinox and Cadillac XT5 compared to the ATS, CTS, and Cruze, it looks like compact SUVs are to blame for this year's layoffs as well. Weekly Recap: Autonomous driving goes commercial in Nevada
Sat, May 9 2015Nevada granted Daimler Trucks North America the first license to run an autonomous commercial vehicle on public roads in the United States Tuesday, marking another milestone in the technology's rapid advancement. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Daimler truck chief Wolfgang Bernhard promptly used the license to lap Highway 15 near Las Vegas in a newly revealed Freightliner Inspiration Truck. It was a clear signal that autonomous driving is big-rig reality, though it's still a long way from widespread use. Nevada certified two of Daimler's Freightliner Inspiration Trucks, which use the company's Highway Pilot system with a stereo camera, radar, and lane-keeping collision-prevention features to regulate the brakes and steering. The radar component has a long-range sensor that can cover 820 feet at an 18-degree angle and a shorter-range unit that stretches 230 feet at a 130-degree angle. The Inspiration trucks are based on the existing Freightliner Cascadia Evolution model used on US roads. In addition to the autonomous technologies, it also has futuristic design cues, including blue lighting in the front and a new hood and grille. While there are only two Freightliner Inspiration trucks in existence, Daimler expects to bring the Highway Pilot system into mass-produced big rigs by 2025, in time to capitalize on the market's predicted growth. The German truckmaker predicts the global hauling market will triple by 2050, and the United States will be a key part of that growth. Trucks carry 69.1 percent the nation's domestic freight tonnage and hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight in 2013, according to the American Trucking Association. Daimler expects autonomous driving to augment this growth, and perhaps evolve the role of the truck driver. Still, the company points out autonomous tech is not meant to replace drivers, but to assist them and relieve fatigue and monotony on long hauls. The driver has to stay in control for passing, in city traffic, and when hooking up the trailer. The company said autonomous driving also offers the potential for improved fuel economy – tests showed a five-percent gain – and lower maintenance costs. Daimler also said the technology could reduce congestion on the road. Much of this is attributable to the constant flow of traffic, which is aided by autonomous driving. While the benefits are becoming increasingly apparent, autonomous technology is still met with skepticism.
