This very rare 1972 C/k Suburban Custom Deluxe with only 91k original miles. Painted in the very desirable White/Ochre/White. It is hands down the cleanest original that I have seen. And if you follow my auctions you know I deal exclusively in Chevrolet trucks and know everything to look for on these vehicles and this one is impeccable! It is completely original except for one repaint that we were told is approximately 6-7 years old that shines up beautifully as you can see in the pics. Being very conservative I would rate the paint as a 8 of 10 due to any minor nicks or scratches from driving. As you can see the body is laser straight in all it's original sheet metal showing no signs of any body damage ever. All the gaps between the doors, fenders, & hood line up just as they should. The doors open and close tight with absolutely no door sag.(All rubber & felt replace at time of repaint) All the chrome and trim are also in excellent shape.
The story behind this truck is the gentleman who purchased it new had it all the way until his passing. During the 40 years he owned it another gentleman that attended the same church as him always inquired about buying it from him, but he said he could never part with it. Well it turns out he actually left it to be given to his church friend in his will. Unfortunately, his friend also fell into bad health soon after and went to sell it to a local car dealer which in turn contacted me about it knowing that this was the type of vehicles I deal in. I have enjoyed it for some time, but now I am ready to move on and let someone else enjoy it. I have set a very fair reserve on this so I can make room in the shop and fund some of my other projects, However if it does not reach that number I will keep it in my collection as they are only becoming more and more rare and also more expensive. Beyond it's condition what also makes it so unique is all the factory options. As you can see on the trim tag pic it has all the creature comforts of a modern SUV such as 3rd row seating, trailer brake controls, and FRONT & REAR AC!! And of course all the other options you would expect from the top of the line model such as: 400 Big block V8, Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Tilt, and the original AM/FM Radio, Factory Blue Tinted Glass, and the full trim package of body molding. Powered by a BBC 400 with 91k original miles with a smooth shifting 400 Turbo Hydromatic transmission. As you can see on the trim tag it is equipped with the big block hwy running gear and cruises at highway speeds. The engine starts up immediately and runs smooth. It handles very tight and just in general hits the road well much like a modern vehicle. I have personally drove this truck on 500+ mile road trips with absolutely no issues. Even though it has never sit for any period of time I had an entire tune up that included all the fluids, belts, and brakes gone through. The interior of this truck is absolutely gorgeous! It is all original and in unbelievable shape. No tears or scuffs of any kind. The dash and gauge bezels, steering wheel, glove box, and carpet are excellent. Hard to believe but it looks almost as good as it did back in 72! The bottom line is this the cleanest, nicest original survivor C/K Suburban I have ever came across. If your looking for an unmolested Suburban I assure you that you won't be disappointed in this one nor will you probably come across another like this ever again. If you have any questions please call Jeremy 864-940-4576 Note: I reserve the right to end this auction early as I will also be marketing it locally for sale. So if you want this truck please don't wait til the last minute to bid as it may already be gone. I can be reached through ebay or my phone number listed above. The winning bidder must make a non-refundable $500 deposit within 24hrs of the auction end and be able to pay the remaining balance within 7 days of auction end. |

CNG-powered Chevy Sonic, Cruze headed your way
Fri, Nov 7 2014The value proposition for a Crazy Diamond Performance CNG ride was a little bit better before gas prices took a dive in the past month. Still, the Michigan-based company, which converts some of Chevrolet's compact vehicles to run on compressed natural gas, received approval late last month from the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for two of its conversion models. And CNG is still pretty cheap. Crazy Diamond will start selling CNG versions of both the Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Sonic. The startup will target fleet operators looking to cut both refueling costs and their carbon footprint. CNG can be found in much of the country in the low $2 range, while the average CO2 emissions are about 25 percent less than those of similar gas-powered vehicles. Average gas prices have tumbled by more than 30 cents a gallon in the last month, according to AAA, but they're still at close to $3. The two models will be able to go almost 300 miles on a full tank of CNG. Crazy Diamond said this summer that it would start selling converted a CNG-powered Cruze that delivers 130 horsepower for as low as $26,000. The turbocharged version goes for about $28,000. Take a look at Crazy Diamond Performance's celebratory press release below. Crazy Diamond Performance recieves EPA approval on its CNG Cruze and Sonic CDP receives EPA approval for its Mono-Fuel CNG Cruze and Sonic. Shelby Township, Michigan, October 30, 2014– Crazy Diamond Performance (CDP) receives EPA approval on its Mono-Fuel Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) Chevrolet Cruze and Chevrolet Sonic. Crazy Diamond Performance has received EPA approval on two new mono-fuel small passenger vehicles, the CNG Chevrolet Cruze and CNG Chevrolet Sonic. These new mono-fuel CNG platforms are the first of a series of small and fuel efficient vehicles coming from CDP, where cost, low emissions and reduced fuel consumption is important for not only fleet owners, but to the general public as well. "Soon to be available, are the 1.8L and 1.4L Cruze and Sonic CNG retrofit systems. These two vehicles represent a change in the status quo, with an OEM level integration of the fuel system and its components" states Michelle Fern, Executive Vice President CDP Inc. These vehicles provide flexibility for fleets looking to purchase a domestic small mono-fuel passenger sedan, but have not had an option until now. There are significant emissions benefits over its gasoline counterpart, with an average reduction in Carbon Dioxide (CO2) of 25%.
Recharge Wrap-up: Chevy Volt CarPlay video, Tesla Supercharger importance
Fri, Feb 5 2016A video demonstrates Apple CarPlay on the touch display in the next-generation Chevrolet Volt. The Volt's eight-inch (bigger than an iPad Mini) capacitive display is capable of putting Siri and your iPhone apps and right at your fingertips. It's "the best CarPlay display I've seen," says the user in the video. In case you're not in the market for a new Volt, 9to5Mac offers some of its favorite aftermarket CarPlay screens. Teslarati's Electric Jen talks about purchasing a Model S, being assured by both Tesla employees and the map of planned Supercharger sites that one would be built along an important route for her. With the construction being pushed back, it made visiting family tricky. "As if owning such a grand car isn't embarrassing enough, asking for a ride to drop off and pick up said car because you can't make it home without charging really made me feel awkward," she says. "You see, one single charging location can mean the world to some people," Jen adds. Read the whole article at Teslarati. Tesla once had considered creating mobile range extender trailers for the Model S. Elon Musk touched upon the abandoned idea during his visit to Paris. While Tesla ultimately dismissed the concept, Nomadic Power has taken the opportunity to hitch their product onto the Tesla brand. "We are delighted, that Tesla Motors' CEO Elon Musk is thinking about a concept like ours for even more extending the range of the Tesla models," says Nomadic Power's CEO Manfred Baumgaertner. He adds, "This confirms our approach to build a long distance mobility provider for all electric vehicles on the market." If you say so, Baumgaertner. When the batteries have degraded to the point that they're no longer suitable for use on the road, they still have a significant capacity that can be used for other purposes. Still useful for stationary storage, they can be used to support charging sites in order to allow for faster charging. The stationary batteries can charge slowly at the site, but then offer up the juice in a hurry when it's needed for a vehicle. Read more from Renault.
Subprime financing on the rise in new car sales, leasing too
Fri, 07 Dec 2012We all remember the financial crisis that began several years back. At its core was a splurge of subprime lending for housing loans. The housing bubble burst, triggering a collapse of the mortgage-backed securities market. Apparently, those types of loans still exist in the automotive industry, and the market share for these types of "nonprime, subprime, and deep subprime," loans has grown 13.6 percent compared to the third quarter a year ago.
According to an Automotive News report, high-risk lending expanded to 24.8 percent of total loans in Q3, up from 21.9 percent for this time last year. As this level increased, average credit scores of borrowers dropped to 755, down from 763 a year ago. In that time, the average financing amount increased $90 per vehicle, to $25,963.
At 818, Volvo maintains the highest per-owner credit score, while Mitsubishi has the lowest, at 694. The highest rate of borrowers was at Toyota, with 14 percent of the market, followed by Ford with 13.1 percent and Chevrolet at 11.1.
