Up for Auction is this Goregous 1970 Chevy Suburban - over $20k invested

Was taken down to the bare metal before the paint job, all rust was repaired with metal - no corners cut
Inside and underneath have been undercoated
4" Lift from Les Schwab as well as like new 33" Tires

Recent Rebuilt 350 and Rebuilt 3 speed Automatic transmission
Edlebrock valve covers, air cleaner, and Hooker headers back into dual magnaflow mufflers - Sounds great!

Optima red top battery and MSD ignition system

The paint job is a few years old and is a dual stage paint, there are a couple minor imperfections, rock chips etc. but is a great driver and looks good! The whole inside, as well as engine bay has been painted to match the outside. The top white part could use another coat of clear

Interior is bare except for the front bench seat, I have a couple set of door panels that will be included. Front and rear that could be used as templates for making custom panels, As well as a set of new rod doors that could be used for the front.

Tranny tunnel came off a 2wd model, so a hole could be punched if you wanted the 4x4 to be functional. It worked great before it was painted, but have had no desire to take it off road since. Front driveline and transfer case handle included

Has the rear barn doors, and an updated rear bumper

All of the glass is actual tinted glass (not just an aftermarket tint cover)

Speedometer, oil pressure, and temperature gauge work. Tach and odometer do not

Runs and drives great, wouldn't hesitate to take on a long trip! Will also help arrange shipping throughout the US, as well as worldwide - let me know if you need a quote! (have a few friends in the freight business)

Please email with any questions! Whoever wins this truck will be very happy with it, its a blast to drive!

No Reserve auction, so please make sure you get your bid in on time! I will not accept higher offers after the end of bidding.

Thanks for looking! Happy Bidding!

2016 Chevy Volt powertrain video teasers

Fri, Oct 31 2014

If there's one thing we've learned about plug-in vehicle fans, you have a thing for seeing your cars get made. The series of videos showing BMW i3 production was strangely popular, as were the shots from inside the VW e-Golf plant. Well, with General Motors pulling the veil off of the 2016 Chevy Volt this week, it's time to take a peek at the production process for that vehicle as well. You're welcome. Up first we've got a clip from CNN Money showing a little bit about how the new Volt's new battery pack and other powertrain components are made. Those of you who are trying to read the lithium tea leaves and see if the new shape reveals that the 2016 Volt will have five seats might want to check it out. Then we've got two clips from GM itself, one showing an animation about the updated Voltec powertrain and another with some B Roll of the old Volt. Since GM doesn't want us to see the new car quite yet, we'll have to enjoy this for now. Watch below. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. GM says hybrid Corvette no laughing matter [w/poll]

Fri, 30 Aug 2013

When Mark Reuss was in LA recently, he sat down to have a few words with the scribes at the Los Angeles Times. When the issue of a hybrid Corvette came up, Reuss answered with "Don't laugh." The General Motors president is a complete fan of the possibility, calling it "attractive" and "really fun," believing it would improve GM expertise and that "people would love it."
Naturally, the president being supportive of an idea doesn't give indication that a hybrid Corvette is on the way. However, with supercars like the Porsche 918 Spyder and Ferrari LaFerrari giving hybrid tech a solid, if remote, place in the performance car world, the inexorable trickle-down of technology means we shouldn't be surprised if and when it does happen.
And now that we have that non-negative half-answer to a speculative question, it would be irresponsible for us not to commence rumormilling for the C8 Corvette. Taking Reuss at his word, the C8 will obviously be a hybrid with all-wheel-drive - the left side wheels driven with electric motors, the right side with the mid-mounted, four-cylinder diesel engine. With coefficient of drag of just .16, figure on a 0-to-60 mile-per-hour time of under 2 seconds and an all-electric range of something like 30 miles at top speed. Don't forget, folks, you read it here first.

Experimental mid-engine XP-819 Corvette going up for auction

Sun, 17 Feb 2013

It seems to be commonplace that when a new Corvette is in development, rumors swirl about a possible mid-engine layout. As is the case of Chevy's most recent C7 Corvette, these rumors never pan out.
In any case, the idea for a 'Vette with an engine mounted behind the driver can probably all be traced back to a single car, the 1964 XP-819 prototype. Built as an "engineering exercise" back in 1964, the prototype was designed with a rear-mounted engine. History tells us that the idea of a rear-engine Corvette fizzled, and the XP-819 was eventually cut up into pieces and stored at a shop in Daytona Beach, FL.
After sitting for untold years, a restoration project started on the car, and while it isn't yet fully completed, the current owner of the car, Mid America Motorworks, will have the car on display at the 2013 Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance as a "driveable chassis" with hopes of having a fully completed car ready to bring to next year's show.
