I HAVE OWNED THIS VEHICLE FOR OVER 6 YEARS AND 75,000 MILES AND HAVE HAD ALMOST NO PROBLEMS, I THINK THE WORST THAT HAS HAD TO BE DONE WAS A BLINKER FLASHER HAD TO BE REPLACED ABOUT A YEAR AGO. I AM THE SERVICE MANAGER AT A CHEVROLET DEALER AND THIS HAS BEEN MY WIFE'S VEHICLE FOR THE ENTIRE 6 YEARS. MY WIFE WORKED ABOUT A MILE FROM THE HOUSE ALMOST THE ENTIRE TIME WE OWNED THE VEHICLE AND THE MAJORITY OF THE MILES ARE FROM VACATIONS AND WEEKEND TRIPS OVER THE YEARS. IT HAS BEEN A GREAT VEHICLE, WE JUST NO LONGER HAVE A NEED FOR SUCH A LARGE VEHICLE SINCE THE KIDS HAVE GOTTEN OLDER.
THE LEFT REAR LOWER PANEL AND BUMPER HAVE A DENT IN IT FROM A PARKING LOT INCIDENT THAT OCCURRED WHILE WE WERE IN THE STORE / COULD MOST LIKELY BE PUSHED BACK OUT (SEE PICS) THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE REPORT IN EBAY'S AUTOCHECK
TO MY KNOWLEDGE THERE IS NOTHING MECHANICALLY WRONG WITH THIS VEHICLE IN ANY WAY, EVERYTHING WORKS AND OPERATES AS IT SHOULD. I WOULD NOT HESITATE TO JUMP IN THIS THING AND DRIVE ACROSS THE COUNTRY TODAY. IT WILL MAKE SOMEBODY A GREAT VEHICLE
***EBAY'S AUTOCHECK SHOWS AN ACCIDENT IN 6/2012 - A LADY BACKED INTO MY WIFE IN A PARKING LOT AND DIDN'T EVEN SCRATCH THE SUBURBAN - WE MADE NO CLAIM OR REPAIRS WHAT SO EVER - SHE HAD ATTEMPTED TO SUE OUR INSURANCE COMPANY AND THANKFULLY I WAS SMART ENOUGH TO TAKE PICTURES - SHE WAS DENIED ANY PAYMENT FOR REPAIRS OR MEDICAL BILLS AND WAS DEEMED AT FAULT - BUT AGAIN WE MADE NO CLAIM OR REPAIRS BECAUSE THERE WAS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING WRONG WITH OUR VEHICLE - DO NOT AGREE THAT IT WOULD SHOW ON AUTOCHECK WHEN NOTHING WAS DONE TO OUR VEHICLE
***AUTOCHECK ALSO SHOWS A LIEN ON THE TITLE - THE TITLE IS CLEAR AND IN HAND AND HAS BEEN FOR ALMOST A YEAR

General Motors Recalls Nearly 780,000 Cars To Fix Deadly Problem
Thu, Feb 13 2014General Motors is recalling nearly 780,000 compact cars in North America because the engines can shut down unexpectedly and cause crashes. The company says six people have been killed in crashes related to the problem. The recall affects Chevrolet Cobalts and Pontiac G5s from the 2005 through 2007 model years. U.S. safety regulators say the weight of the key ring and rough roads can move the ignition switch out of the run position, cutting the engine and electricity. If that happens, air bags may not work. GM says there have been 22 crashes from the problem. All happened at high speeds. Dealers will replace the ignition switch for free. GM says owners should remove nonessential items from key rings until the problem is fixed. GM looks to combat high theft rates on SUVs with added tech
Tue, 24 Dec 2013The Cadillac Escalade has been at or near the top of most-stolen and insurance-loss lists for more than seven years, until it dropped to number six earlier this year. In 2011 it was fitted with a host of new security features to address its easy-to-override features and that has brought the number of thefts down, but when eight of the ten most stolen rides are large SUVs from General Motors, no one will argue that something else needs to be done.
Thus, GM has fitted this same theft-deterring tech to the 2015 Suburban, Tahoe and Yukon. The Suburban and Tahoe will get the steering lock that the Escalade and Yukon already get, plus bolted-down third-row seats to deter thefts like this, stronger door lock cylinders and shields, and side-cut keys to inhibit picking.
Additional security measures in a Theft Protection Package can be purchased for $395, consisting of sensors on the greenhouse glass and interior, an incline/tilt sensor and added "key control systems" to make it more difficult for the men in black balaclavas to steal what you bought.
Ram 1500 bests new F-150 in MT pickup shootout
Tue, Nov 25 2014Ford's 2015 Ford F-150 is a technological tour-de-force, what with its aluminum-intensive construction and its powerful and efficient new 2.7-liter EcoBoost engine option. But now that it's hit the market, it's time to get down to brass tacks and find out how just the latest F-150 actually stands up to its rivals in the hyper-competitive fullsize segment. Motor Trend is among the first to round up the Ford (in Lariat 2.7-liter 4X4 guise here) and put it up against the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman EcoDiesel 4x4 and 5.3-liter-equipped Silverado 1500 LTZ Z71 to find out how Dearborn's new-think truck measures up. The test put the trio through over 1,000 miles of tough driving in California and Arizona in a variety of conditions from just cruising around unladen to hauling a trailer. MT found all three trucks to be competent, but the most praise got heaped on the Ram and the Ford, with the Chevrolet falling a step behind its competitors in many tests. Among the Ford's most-liked features was its 2.7-liter, twin-turbo V6 that helped make the F-150 easily the quickest of the group, with some editors saying the engine felt about the same whether driving around with cargo in the bed or not. There was some minor turbo lag during acceleration while trailering, but that issue affected the Ram, too. The Ram's powertrain was lauded, as well. The EcoDiesel was torquey around town, and the 1500's combination of an eight-speed automatic and air suspension was judged to be the best of the lot. It was the most difficult to get into the bed, though. The Ram also won the fuel economy award by netting 20-miles-per-gallon city and 28-mpg highway in the test to beat its Environmental Protection Agency ratings of 19/27. The Ford's EcoBoost managed 17/22, one mpg off each from the EPA numbers, and using a lot of throttle really depleted its efficiency. As MT notes, however, it would take time for the diesel's mileage savings to pay off at the pump for these two trucks. In the end, the Ram just barely eked out the win, with the title partially earned because of "the Ford's unknown maintenance and aluminum repair costs," according to MT.
