2002 Duramax 2500hd Diesel, 4 Door on 2040-cars
Brentwood, Tennessee, United States
This is my fathers Duramax that he has owned for the past 5 or so years. He bought a new truck and just doesn't drive the truck much any more so he has decided to sell it. The truck runs like a top and I wouldn't hesitate to drive it anywhere. I just used it last weekend on a 10 hour round trip to haul a car and it ran perfect. The only issues it has i took pictures of and are as follows: *Small dent on the rear passangers side lower wheel well *Tan coloring on one spot of the dash is wearing off and showing the black underneath *Tail gate latch broke off, the tail gate still opens but you have to pull the two rods to open it *Injector is starting to leak. This is a common problem on LB7's. It in no way effects the way the truck runs it just smokes when idling. I have a video of this posted. *Check Engine Light from leaking injector *Will need new tires in the next year Overall the truck runs great without any issue what so ever. The interior and exterior are in really good shape for a 12 year old truck. I would rate the interior and exterior at an 8 out of 10. My Dad is a stickler for maintenance changing the oil and transmission filters religiously, and used Diesel Kleen on fill ups. Anyone who buys it can fly in pick it up and drive it home with confidence. Honestly i would love to keep the truck for myself but its tough to drive living in a larger city. The retail on this truck with its current mileage is $12900 and the reserve is set at less than half that. If you have any questions just ask, I will answer them on a daily basis. |

GM recalling nearly 4,000 vehicles over airbag concerns
Thu, 31 Jan 2013Four different General Motors vehicles from the 2012 model year are being recalled over a potential airbag issue. The driver's side airbag shorting bar in the 2012 Buick Verano and 2012 Chevrolet Camaro, Cruze and Sonic might make contact with the airbag terminals, even during a crash. If so, the airbag won't deploy when it should, possibly increasing injury to the driver.
The recall is expected to begin on February 13 for the 3,896 units that might be affected. GM will notify owners who can then take their vehicles to dealers to have the airbag coil replaced. A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration below has more info.
GM laying off 500 workers to slow Chevy Sonic production
Sat, Oct 24 2015Due to slow sales of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano, General Motors is cutting a shift at the Orion Township plant that builds the pair. The move lays off about 500 workers, but most of them are expected to get offers to transfer to other factories, Automotive News reports. The move came just a day after GM announced adding 1,200 employees to the Detroit-Hamtramck plant. GM has been trying all year at the Orion Township factory to align production of the Sonic and Verano with their demand. The automaker first attempted idling the plant several times and eventually resorted to laying off about 100 workers. It also reduced the production rate there. With the huge rise in popularity of crossovers, demand for the plant's small cars is on the downturn. According to Automotive News, there's currently a 116-day supply of Sonics and 100 days of Veranos to sell. Delivers tell a similar tale because the Chevy is off 35.2 percent from January to September, and the Buick does little better with a 27.2 percent drop from the same period last year. While the situation at Orion Township might look rough now, big things are on the horizon. Soon, the new Chevy Bolt electric vehicle will be built there when it hits the market around 2017. Plus, the plant will also get a $245-million upgrade and 300 new jobs for another, unannounced vehicle.
Vert-A-Pac train cars kept your Chevy Vega's price in check
Fri, 01 Mar 2013Our apologies to those who've seen this before, but for the rest of the class, how awesome are these pictures of the Vert-A-Pac shipping system General Motors came up with to ship the Chevrolet Vega back in the 1970s? Developed along with Southern Pacific Railroad, GM was able to double the amount of Vega models it could ship by packing them into the unique storage cars vertically.
At the time, rail cars could fit 15 vehicles each, but Chevrolet was able to lower shipping costs by making it possible to ship 30 Vegas per rail car, in turn allowing the price of the Vega to remain as low as possible. Each rail car had 30 doors that would fold down so that a Vega could be strapped on, and then a forklift would come along and lift the door into place. All the cars were positioned nose down, and since they were shipped with all of their required fluids, certain aspects had to be designed specifically for this type of shipping, including an oil baffle in the engine, a special battery and even a repositioned windshield washer reservoir.
