Super Bowl MVP Tom Brady gives Chevy Colorado to Malcolm Butler [w/poll]
Tue, Feb 3 2015Winning the Super Bowl, we'd imagine, is pretty sweet. Winning the MVP award at the Super Bowl, even more so – for many reasons, among them that you get a brand new Chevy Colorado, packed full of, you know... technology and stuff. Of course this year's Most Valuable Player was none other than Tom Brady, the New England Patriots quaterback who was crowned Super Bowl MVP for the third time and lead the Pats to win the Super Bowl for the fourth time. He makes tens of millions every season, and Mrs. Brady (a.k.a. Gisele Bundchen) probably makes an extraordinarily pretty penny herself. So what does one of the most successful and wealthy players in NFL history need with a new pickup truck? Not a whole lot, apparently: the Boston Business Journal reports that he gave the truck to Malcolm Butler, the rookie cornerback who intercepted Seattle Seahawks QB Russell Wilson's pass on the Patriots' one-yard line with only twenty seconds to go and sealed the victory for New England. Which strikes us as a fitting gesture, even if Brady did keep the MVP trophy for himself. Ford, Toyota clean up in Best Car For The Money Awards
Fri, 22 Feb 2013The U.S. News Best Cars for the Money Awards picks winners by looking at the average transaction price, five-year total cost of ownership, the regard a car has from the automotive press, reliability figures from J.D. Power and Associates and safety data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety. The result, according to the magazine, is "the best combination of critical acclaim and long-term value."
Ford nabbed six of the 21 categories that received awards this year, the Focus, Fusion, Fusion Hybrid, Taurus, Escape and Edge getting trophies. Toyota and its Lexus and Scion sub-brands took another five, the Tacoma and Tundra owning the two categories given to pickup trucks. The other ten awards were split between Honda with three, Buick with two, and one each for Subaru, BMW, Hyundai, Chevrolet and Mazda.

This 450-hp electric Lotus Evora is powered by Tesla and Chevrolet
Tue, May 9 2017When someone mentions an electric Lotus, the first thing that comes to mind is the Tesla Roadster, the California-based automaker's first vehicle. That car started life as an Elise before being heavily massaged and adapted by Tesla's engineers. In a similar spirit, the people at Onpoint Dyno are close to finishing Blue Lightning, a track-ready all-electric Lotus Evora. Blue Lightning uses a Tesla drive unit and a Chevrolet Volt battery pack, both mounted in the middle in place of the Evora's 3.5-liter Toyota V6. It's putting down about 450 horsepower at the wheels. The car was built for time attack sessions, so power is fed through custom forged wheels and super sticky Pirelli PZero Trofeo R tires, the same ones found on the last Chevrolet Camaro Z/28. There is a custom digital instrument cluster in place of the Lotus gauges. There's also a regen paddle on the left side of the steering wheel. With a full charge, Blue Lighting should go about 120 miles. While the car runs under its own power, it's only about 90 percent complete. It has no power steering, no firewall in between the seats and the motor and battery pack, no A/C, and a large hole where the shift lever used to be. Other final touches include fine-tuning the brakes and suspension. There is also a custom rear bumper coming that should make it look more like the new Lotus Evora 400. Onpoint Dyno expects the car to hit the track in the next month or so. Related Video:
