Chevrolet S-10 Extended Cab Lt on 2040-cars
Winter Park, Florida, United States
Looks like it may be time to sell my baby. Hate to do it as I have so many things left I would like to do with it but I need to replace the engine in my diesel Suburban and I just don't have the funds to do it right without selling the S10. I will try and describe everything to the best of my memory and be as accurate as possible.Bought it back in December 2010 after looking for over a year for the right truck. It was already lowered with the Belltech package and some paintwork obviously performed, but overall a nice looking truck. It had a New England Patriots airbrushed football player on the hood which required stripping and repainting the first week. It also had gloss black Redrum wheels (don't remember the style name) that were also removed. It came with an Audiovox Prestige alarm system with remote start. It also had aftermarket power windows which I have not done anything with as they have always worked ok. The tailgate handle was relocated to inside the bed. And the Magnaflow exhaust was also already installed. I believe it had somewhere in the neighborhood of 80K miles if I remember correctly.Since then it has been my main daily driver and I have made the following changes:K&N Cold Air IntakeBlazer Front BrakesBelltech Blazer drop spindlesBlazer disc brake rear end (3.42)Snugtop hard tonneau cover (used - painted to match with new locks installed)GM roll panHidden hitch with flip down plate20X8.5 KMC Novas with Vogue 245/40/20 Signature "V" tiresHID'sClear tail lights with yellow film (LED bulbs)LED turn signal bulbs with flasher mod performedBucket seats with center console (seat heater on driver's side)Long overhead console with outside temp/compass feature (not finished)Pioneer AVIC Navigation head unit with backup cameraAll windows tinted with LLumar film (50% on windshield)BedrugRecent repairs/maintenance include intake manifold resealed, driveshaft balanced and carrier bearing replaced, new coolant hoses. Still needs rear main seal replaced and tie rod ends.

GM recalls full-size truck, SUVs and vans over faulty shifter mechanism
Mon, 07 Jan 2013Twelve different General Motors vehicles from the 2013 model year, up to 54,686 units in total, are being recalled over two potential issues with their steering columns. The models in question, all full-size trucks, SUVs or vans, are the: Cadillac Escalade, Escalade ESV, Escalade EXT, Chevrolet Avalanche, Express, Silverado, Suburban, Tahoe, and GMC Savana, Sierra, Yukon and Yukon XL.
The affected vehicles were built with a fractured parking lock cable or "a malformed steering column lock actuator gear in the lock module assembly." As a consequence, they could shift out of park without the brake pedal being applied or with the key removed or in the off position.
A bulletin from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration indicates that the recall should begin on January 17. GM will notify owners, at which time they can take their vehicles to their dealers for repair free of charge. Have a look at the bulletin below for more information.
Final C6 Corvette built in Bowling Green
Fri, 01 Mar 2013With all of the attention given to the 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray lately, you could be forgiven for thinking that it's already well along in production, yet tooling up for the new C7 has only just begun. In fact, production of the outgoing C6 generation in Bowling Green, Kentucky just halted on Thursday.
As the C6 has aged, production numbers have predictably ebbed along with demand, but this year, the addition of the 427 and 60th anniversary models resulted in an uptick in vehicles built - this, despite a model year shortened by around 25 percent to accomodate the new model changeover. The final C6 Corvette ever, No. 13,466 built this year, was a white 427 Convertible destined for the General Motors Heritage Center museum. The car's 7.0-liter V8 heart was assembled by Corvette chief engineer Tadge Juechter himself.
In total, Bowling Green pushed out 215,100 C6 Corvettes over nine years. If you're still a C6 fan at heart and are hoping to get a good deal on a phase-out model, step lively - Chevrolet reportedly had about 6,100 unsold units, which Autoweek suggests is good for around five and a half months of supply at the model's current sales rates. Given that demand will likely slacken even further as the C7 draws closer, that should be a big enough stockpile to keep dealers satisfied until 2014 Stingrays begin showing up on their forecourts in December.
Camaro spy shots show subtly different grille, front fascia
Sun, 03 Feb 2013It looks like there some changes in store for the Chevrolet Camaro - the only thing is that we just don't know what Chevy has up its sleeve. Looking at these spy shots, we'd initially be inclined to think that there is just a minor facelift or a new special edition, but upon closer inspection, there are a few oddities about this car that definitely have us intrigued.
The most obvious difference on this prototype is the slightly restyled front fascia with a smaller lower air inlet and the two-bar grille. Then we get to some of the car's mysterious details. For starters, this fascia has the SS vent above the grille, but it looks to be blocked off. Granted this could just be a one-off piece used for testing. What really piqued our interest was at the rear of the car where it has quad exhaust outlets that are used on the ZL1. Could this be the LS7-powered Camaro that we reported on back in December?
At this point, your guess is as good as ours as to what we're looking at here, so let us know in the comments what you think this could be.
