I built this lowrider mini truck to be clean and functional. The bed is completely built from scratch, and no corners where cut during construction. The inside is formed, welded and finished from 16 individual pieces of 18 gauge steel nicely contoured over the 3 link. The Fresh paint job is enhanced with a smoothie front bumper, clear signals and markers, and a fresh bumper apron. This Truck is highly influenced by the custom era flowing throughout its construction.
Body mods include a full custom smooth bed hand built from scratch with new bed sides. The gas door has been shaved and relocated inside the bed with a pop-up gas fill. The inside of the bed is bare-metal to show off the craftsmanship. the tailgate has been re-skinned with the handle relocated to the inside, and a crooked plate-box with working light has been frenched in. A roll pan has been welded on with 59 Cadillac taillights frenched deep within. Stock taillights have been shaved. The door handles and locks have been shaved along with the antenna. The Omaha Orange paint job was done by a professional auto body shop, and has received awards for best in class and best paint. The body work is really strait as you can see in the pictures. This truck also sports a new front bumper, deflector, clear signals and markers. The interior has been updated with subtle enhancements. The bench seat has been recovered in black. The stock headrests shortened and the sun visors have been narrowed. The headliner has been redone with a pleated insert to match the seat. Door panels have also been freshened up with new material to match the seats. Audio system is stock, except for the Ipod ready Pioneer DEH-P49001B cd player. Controlled by a 9-rocker switch-box, This minitruck lays frame with a Thorbeck Bros 3 link, 8 gallon air tank, and an engine-driven compressor. The frame has been c-notched and the rear half of the frame has been boxed. It has Slam Specialties air bags all the way around, with 3/8 line in the back and 1/2 inch up front. It is a very reliable setup controlled by 8 SMC solenoids. Wheels are 14" western wheel aluminum mags which have been powder coated black. Tires are Hankook p215/70R14, and have good tread. This truck has received Awards for best in class, and outstanding paint at the 2013 Milwaukee World of Wheels car show. |

GM slashes prices in China as sales falter
Thu, May 14 2015Buying a vehicle from General Motors' stable of brands might be a lot cheaper in the near future – at least for customers in China. The effort comes as GM hopes to keep sales there growing, and the decision alludes to yet another sign that the Asian country no longer has the booming auto market of past years. GM and its Chinese joint venture partner SAIC are slashing prices by as much as the equivalent to $8,700 on 40 models from Buick, Chevrolet, and Cadillac, according to The Detroit News. Across all of automaker's nameplates, the overall sales dipped in China in April by 0.4 percent to 258,484 vehicles. Among the drops, Buick was down 8.5 percent, and Chevy shrunk 5.6 percent. Caddy's numbers increased 4.6 percent for the month, though. Buick remains a popular brand in the minds of Chinese consumers, but according to The Detroit News domestic automakers there are starting to eat into the dominance of foreign companies in the market. The country remains important for GM, though. Late last year, it outlined a future strategy that included China as a major pillar, including a $14 billion investment to build five new factories and boost sales. Chevrolet planning low-cost Corvette under Stingray?
Wed, 27 Feb 2013If you're burnt out on musings about the Chevrolet Corvette, you'll want to go ahead and skip this post. Motor Trend reports General Motors is hard at work on a low-cost version of the seventh-generation sports car for 2015. Rumored to be called the Corvette Coupe, the car will forgo the Stingray and skip the 450-horsepower 6.2-liter V8 engine in favor of a 5.3-liter V8 with under 400 ponies. If you're keeping track, that's a shade of the same engine found behind the headlights of the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra.
The report also suggests the Coupe will receive a number of aesthetic tweaks to separate it from the Stingray, including different front and rear fascias as well as new front fenders and a rear diffuser. Motor Trend says the point of all this is to cut the car's price tag, which means we may see a Corvette on showroom floors for less than $50,000 if this car comes to fruition.
