UP FOR AUCTION IS MY VERY CLEAN SUPER LOW MILAGE 1985 S10 BLAZER. WITH ONLY 34,029 ACTUAL MILES IT RIDES AND DRIVES GREAT. THE PAINT HAS A VERY DEEP SHINE AND I BELIEVE IT IS MAINLY ORIGINAL WITH A FEW TOUCH UPS HERE AND THERE. THE ONLY RUST IS PICTURED AND IS ONE NICKEL SIZED BUBBLE AROUND THE DRIVERS SIDE REAR WHEEL WELL AND ON BOTH SIDES THE LOWER QUARTERS IN FRONT OF THE REAR WHEELS ARE STARTING TO RUST OUT ON THE VERY BOTTOM. MORE ON THE DRIVERS SIDE THAN THE PASSENGER SIDE  BUT IS A VERY EASY REPAIR. PATCH PANELS TO FIX THAT AREA ARE AROUND $40 EACH BUT I DON'T EVEN THINK THEY WOULD BE NEEDED AS THE AREAS AREN'T TOO LARGE. THE ROCKER PANELS AND CAB MOUNTS ARE EXTREMELY SOLID WITH NO RUST ISSUES AT ALL. FRAME IS ALSO SOLID.  I BOUGHT THE TRUCK WITH THE IDEA THAT I WAS GOING TO DO A V8 SWAP BUT THE TRUCK RUNS AND DRIVES SO WELL AND IS SO UNMOLESTED I REALLY DON'T WANT TO TAKE IT APART. IT EVEN STILL HAS FACTORY GM WELDED EXHAUST SYSTEM AND IT STILL LOOKS ALMOST NEW. THE INTERIOR IS SUPER CLEAN ALSO. THE TIRES HAVE APPROXIMATELY 1000 MILES ON THEM AND STILL LOOK NEW. IT REALLY WOULD BE A GREAT CANDIDATE FOR THE SWAP AS IT IS NOT COMPUTER CONTROLLED, IS CARBURETED AND HAS FACTORY 4.11 GEARS.  THE ONLY KNOWN MECHANICAL DEFECT IS THERE IS A TICK IN THE ENGINE THAT COMES AND GOES AT IDLE SOMETIMES. KIND OF SOUNDS LIKE A LIFTER THAT STICKS A LITTLE BUT IT DOESN'T EFFECT HOW IT RUNS AT ALL. I JUST TOOK IT ON A 200 MILE ROUND TRIP AND IT RAN GREAT.  THIS WOULD BE A GREAT COLLECTOR VEHICLE OR AN EXCELLENT V8 PROJECT TRUCK. NEEDLESS TO SAY THIS TRUCK IS 28 YEARS OLD AND BEING SOLD AS IS WHERE IS. THERE MAY BE SOMETHING THAT I OVERLOOKED SO AN IN PERSON INSPECTION IS NOT ONLY RECOMMENDED BUT ENCOURAGED. SHIPPING IS THE SOLE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SUCCESFUL BIDDER BUT I WILL ASSIST IN ANY WAY I CAN.  A $500.00 DEPOSIT WILL BE DUE WITHIN 24 HOURS OF CLOSE OF AUCTION AND FULL BALANCE WITH IN 5 DAYS. I HAVE PUT A VERY MODEST RESERVE ON THIS TRUCK AND I AM VERY CONFIDENT IT WILL BE MET AND THEN SOME. GOOD LUCK AND HAPPY BIDDING!

Auto sales in March and first quarter down nearly across the board

Wed, Apr 3 2019

Nearly every major automaker reported weak U.S. sales for March and the first quarter of 2019, citing a rough start to the year, but said a robust economy and strong labor market should encourage consumers to buy more vehicles as 2019 rolls on. GM, which no longer releases monthly sales figures, saw first-quarter sales fall 7 percent, with declines across all brands. Sales of Silverado pickup trucks fell nearly 16 percent and the high-margin Chevy Suburban large SUV dropped 25 percent. Ford also no longer releases monthly sales numbers, but is due to release its first-quarter sales figures on Thursday. According to industry data, Ford's sales fell 2 percent in the quarter and 5 percent in March. Ford representatives did not immediately respond to requests for comment. FCA reported a 7 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and a 3 percent drop for the first quarter. All of FCA's brands dropped in March, except for Ram, which saw a 15 percent increase in pickup truck sales. "The industry had a tough first quarter, but with spring finally starting to show its face and continued strong economic indicators ... we are confident that new vehicle sales demand will strengthen going forward," FCA's U.S. head of sales, Reid Bigland, said in a statement. Toyota reported a 3.5 percent fall in U.S. sales in March and 5 percent for the first quarter, hurt by declining demand for its Corolla sedans and Camry vehicles. "While some of our competitors are abandoning sedans, we remain optimistic about the future of the segment," Toyota said in a statement. Nissan posted a 5.3 percent drop in sales in March, and its first-quarter sales were down 11.6 percent. Honda and Hyundai bucked the trend. Honda's U.S. sales rose 4.3 percent in March and 2 percent in the quarter, while Hyundai's were up 1.7 percent and 2.1 percent, respectively. Passenger-car sales suffered throughout the January-March quarter compared with the same period in 2018 as Americans continued to abandon them in favor of larger, more comfortable pickup trucks and SUVs, which are far more profitable for automakers. The battle for market share in the particularly lucrative large-pickup truck market intensified in the quarter, as Fiat Chrysler Automobiles' Ram brand outsold the U.S.' No. 1 automaker General Motors' Chevrolet-brand trucks. The two automakers have both launched redesigned pickup trucks.

Who sold the most heavy-duty pickups in 2012? PickupTrucks.com investigates

Tue, 26 Feb 2013

Domestic manufacturers enjoyed a good year for heavy-duty pickup sales in 2012. PickupTrucks.com has taken a close look at exactly how those sales broke down between each manufacturer and between three-quarter and one-ton pickups. Ford sold some 67,786 F-250 Super Duty models last year with the Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD falling just behind at 56,359 units. The Ram 2500 HD came in third at 41,918, while the GMC Sierra 2500 HD earned itself fourth place with 27,616 deliveries. While Ford held onto the top spot in the one-ton market, Ram easily nailed down second place by selling more 3500 HD models last year than General Motors sold Silverado 3500 HD and Sierra 3500 HD trucks combined.
So, did GM manage to sell more trucks than Ford with its two brands? Very nearly. Ford sold a total of 119,338 heavy-duty pickups to GM's 111,555. Ram, meanwhile, moved a distant 77,583. But perhaps more interesting is the diesel take rate in this segment. PickupTrucks.com says 80 percent of all domestic one-ton trucks roll from the dealer lot with a turbo-diesel under the hood. Head over to the site for a closer look at the breakdown.

Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test

Tue, Oct 25 2016

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:
