I am listing this 1958 Chevrolet Apache Step Side 3100 with about 21,000 miles (on engine) for a gentleman in Sarasota, about 1 hour south of me. He purchased it about 7 years ago from the person who put it together the way it is now. Current owner is selling due to personal reasons.

Let me start by voicing that this is a very nice Chevy Pick up truck, and because its color, it really stands out — a very COOL ride I have to say!!  Mechanically it's safe to say that it needs nothing for everything it's practically still new. In terms of restoration finish I would give this one a 7.5 to an 8. This is not a showroom vehicle, but I don't think that most people would not know the difference! There's a slight paint run on the passenger door (would not show on photo), and slight scuffs here and there. You can also request a link to my You Tube video for this vehicle too! Here's a list of the things done to this Chevy...

This is a NO RESERVE LISTING, so this is a good opportunity to acquire a very nice Stunning 1958 Chevy Pickup. Serious eBay members only, PLEASE!! As you can see per my feedback I don't play games so extend me the same courtesy. There's a $1000.00 deposit due within 24 hours, so make sure this is what you want before bidding, and that your financials are in order too! Deposits may be returned if an issue with the item arises that I wasn't aware of, or/and I fail to describe suitablyI gladly accept deposits through Pay Pal, but can not accept full balance because Pay Pal now requires to show electronic tracking when shipping any item in order for the seller/buyer to be protected under their policy. So logically, a vehicle can't be shipped using the required electronic tracking system because it can't be placed inside a box nor an envelope!  Form of payments: Personal checks (once cleared), bank transfer, cashier's checks (once verified), or cash! I will be glad to assist with shipping arrangements and can even refer you to a trusted transportation company that I personally use, but all costs are buyer's responsibility. No Warranties Whatsoever, sold as is. If you are going to need more than 7 days to collect the vehicle let me know in advance so that I can coordinate things with the owner. Know that I always try to be as accommodating as much as I can, but communication is the key! Also, keep in mind that I am listing vehicles for others, and on very rare occasions a seller has changed his mind or sold the vehicle to someone else during the listing process. Again, this is a far between scenario, but it has happened before, so please keep this remote possibility in mind when deciding to bid in this listing. Feel free to contact me with any questions via email or at 727.522.2531

TO MEMBERS: I am not a dealer, I provide a service to individuals in need of listing their particular vehicles unless stated above. Most of the people that I list for; don't know how to use a computer, don't have the time, and/or don't want the aggravation. I do not take possession of the vehicle nor the title, I just list for them. It's important to express that I just don't list anybody, I check all paperwork, examine items, and test them myself including driving them if applicable. If I don't feel comfortable with the item, or individual I will pass on the opportunity! I consider myself mechanically inclined, and have a very good eye for paint finish, bodywork, etc, for I used to work for a restoration shop back in my days while attending college!  Satisfied eBay members is the most important part of any listing transaction that I make. As much as one tries to best describe or list issues about any particular vehicle, it's impossible to account for all possible things that can go wrong with a machinery. It will probably be a good idea to have the vehicle inspected before the end of auction to be 100% sure. Know that I will always try to list as accurate as possible in order to avoid unnecessary issues. Of course it's always challenging to satisfy all members all the time, but I will try to do my best in continuing enjoying my current feedback status with your help! If there's a problem or concerned with your purchase, please allow me the opportunity to address it before leaving a negative feedback! I will do everything in my power to make sure that you are satisfied, within reason of course! So, bid with confidence and contact me with any questions!

Looking back on our favorite cars of Mad Men

Tue, Apr 7 2015

The second half of the seventh and final season of Mad Men debuted this week, set to cap a run of public and critical acclaim. A decade's worth of interesting cars also made for good television, if you were paying attention. Vehicles didn't often steal the spotlight from Don, Betty, Roger, Joan and the gang, but they added meaningfully to the tone and beauty of the series. We sorted through the wheeled extras from Mad Men's archives, and choose some of our favorites to highlight. The list consists of cars that had at least a small impact on the plot of an episode, though certainly there are worthy gems hiding in just about every street and driving scene. Check out our subjective top five, and then let us know which of the Mad Men cars would be on your list. 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille – Season 2 Don Draper's Cadillac Coupe DeVille, all 500 feet of it, shows up in a few seasons of the show, but it's the first appearance that sets the tone. A Cadillac salesman, cut from the same cloth as Draper, asks what Don drives right now. "A Dodge," Don admits. "Those are wonderful if you want to get somewhere," allows the salesman, "this is for when you've already arrived." For a man on the move up corporate and social ladders that's a powerful message, and a pitch-perfect car. 1961 Lincoln Continental Β– Season 3 The most stylish Lincoln Continental ever is perfect set dressing for the mod show, of course. Though it's interesting that the car isn't cast as dapper Draper's ride, but rather his father-in-law's. Grandpa Gene does what all great grandfathers are bound to: lets his granddaughter Sally drive the big Lincoln while he works the pedals. Generational bond secured, in fine fashion. When you go back through the first three seasons of the show, you'll notice that Continentals show up more than once, too. There's nothing quite like them to evoke the best of the early '60s. 1963 John Deere 110 Β– Season 3 The only non-standard passenger vehicle on the list, no self-respecting gearhead/Mad Men fan should quibble with the inclusion of the John Deere 110 riding mower. For starters, the Deere is lovely to look at; a miniature version of the American Heartland icon in its green and yellow duds. The 110 appears as if milled from a solid block of steel, just the opposite of today's sleek, plasticky lawn minders (we're scouring Craigslist for one to bring home). The John Deere also has dear ramifications to the plot, too.

Foreign automakers pay from $38 to $65 per hour to non-union workers

Sun, Mar 29 2015

As leaders for the United Auto Workers gather in Detroit for their Special Convention on Collective Bargaining to work out the negotiating stance for this year's new labor agreements with the Detroit 3 automakers, what they most want to do is figure out how to eliminate the two-tier wage scale. However, the lower Tier 2 wage has allowed the domestic automakers to reduce their labor costs, hire more workers, and compete better with their import competition. As it stands, per-hour labor rates including benefits are $58 at General Motors, $57 at Ford, and $48 at Fiat-Chrysler – a reflection of FCA's much greater number of Tier 2 workers. The Center for Automotive Research released a study of labor rates (including benefits) that put numbers to what the imports pay: Mercedes-Benz pays the most, at an average of $65 per hour, Volkswagen pays the least, at $38 per hour, and BMW is just a hair above that at $39 per hour. Among the Detroit competitors, Honda workers earn an average of $49 per hour, at Toyota it's $48 per hour, Nissan is $42 per hour, and Hyundai-Kia pays $41 per hour. The lower import wages are aided by their greater use of temporary workers compared to the domestics. Automotive News says the ten-dollar gap between those foreign camakers and the domestics turns out to about an extra $250 per car in labor, which adds up quickly when you're pumping out many millions of cars. That $250-per-car number is one that, come negotiating time, the Detroit 3 will want to reduce, as the UAW is trying to raise both Tier 1 and Tier 2 wages. Another wrinkle is that the domestic carmakers are considering the wide adoption of a third wage level lower than Tier 2. Some workers who do minor tasks like assembling parts trays kits and battery packs already make less than Tier 2, but the UAW will be quite wary about cementing yet another wage scale at the bottom of the system while it's trying to fight a bigger battle at the top. Mustang, Camaro, Challenger gallop onto USPS pony car postage stamp set

Tue, Jul 19 2022

Some of America's most iconic cars are about to be immortalized on postage stamps. A new set by the U.S. Postal Service will celebrate the the golden era of pony cars, featuring five classic examples of Detroit iron. Each one is beautifully illustrated in oil-on-canvas style, with subjects in motion and sunlight glinting off the chrome, and would add a nice touch to any first-class letter. The pony car segment was all about (relatively) small, sporty alternatives to the full-size land yachts of the 1960s. They typically came equipped with 6-cylinder engines or small-block V8s. The category was named after the Ford Mustang, henceΒ  the name. Some, though, argue that the Plymouth Barracuda, which was launched a couple of weeks before the Mustang, is the first. Luckily, the Falcon-based Mustang's distinct styling generated a sales sensation, or we might be calling them fish cars. Appropriately, one of the featured cars is a Mustang. But it's not just any Mustang. The 1969 Boss 302, seen here resplendent in Bright Yellow, was created for the hotly-contested SCCA Trans-Am racing series. One of its main rivals would have been the 1969 Chevy Camaro Z/28, also created specifically for the series, and is included in the set in Fathom Green. Representing Auburn Hills in the set is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T in Plum Crazy, while Southfield's American Motors gets a nod with an AMC Javelin in Big Bad Orange. The Mustang's platform cousin, a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR-7, is portrayed in a gorgeous Burgundy Poly that almost looks incomplete without Neko Case on the hood. It's not the first time the USPS has honored America's rich car culture on its stamps. In 2013, it issues a series of muscle car stamps with the help of Richard Petty. That set featured a 1966 Pontiac GTO, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1970 Chevelle SS, 1970 Plymouth Hemi ’Cuda and, of course, a 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona. Another set in 2016 featured classic pickup trucks. Going further back, a 2008 release had chroed and finned automobiles of the 1950sΒ and a 2005 release featured sporty American cars of the same era. The pony car stamps will debut on August 25 at the Great American Stamp Show in Sacramento, California in partnership with theΒ American Philatelic Society. The public is free to attend the dedication ceremony, but you must RSVP first. After that, they will be available at local post offices and on line at the USPS store.
