Summer is  here and it's time to get ready for the car shows and cruises. This beautiful custom 1956 Chevy truck is just what you need. It was purchased as a bare frame with the TCI suspension partially installed, the cab and front sheet metal. A complete frame off every nut, bolt and part new restoration was done. The truck features a reverse flip hood and a 1994 Sport Side bed. The suspension consists of a TCI Mustang II style Power Rack & Pinion and 4 link with chrome coil overs in the rear supporting a Mustang SVO rear with 3.45 posi. It rides on Billet Specialties GTX03 17" wheels wrapped in Kumho ties and stops on a dime thanks to the 4 wheel power disc brakes.  Power is supplied by a GMPP 350 Ram Jet fuel injected crate engine with a polished Vintage Air Front Runner set up. It is factory rated at 350 hp and 400 lb ft of torque.9.4:1 compression with roller cam & rockers. The exhaust flows through ceramic coated headers to 2 1/2" stainless steel pipes with an H pipe and Flowmaster mufflers. The engine is backed up by a modified 700R4 with a 2500 converter and Lokar shifter. The interior consists of gray leather power GM buckets and tweed Rod Doors panels. The dash houses purple Dakota Digital gauges the controls to the ICE COLD Vintage Air unit and a Clairion stereo with CD. A Kenwood amp & Rockford Fosgate speakers complete the sound system. The interior also has an Ididit tilt column with a classic Grant wheel, center console and 3 way seat belts. Other upgrades include an aluminum radiator with a 3000 cfm sensor controlled electric fan, 15 gallon aluminum gas tank with an internal fuel pump mounted under the bed and an American Auto Wire Harness made specifically for the truck. Everything on this truck from the glass to the door mechanisms to the weatherstripping was all purchased new.My limited photography skills do not do this award winning truck justice. It is pictured on page 64 of the December 2011 issue of Classic Trucks. Texas sues GM, saying it tricked customers into sharing driving data sold to insurers

Wed, Aug 14 2024

Texas filed a lawsuit Tuesday against GM over years of alleged abuse of customers' data and trust. New car owners were presented with a "confusing and highly misleading" process that was implied to be for their safety, but "was no more than a deceptively designed sales flow" that surrendered their data for GM to sell. The suit contends that at no point was selling driving data ever even suggested as a possibility, putting GM in violation of the state's consumer protection laws. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is seeking a jury trial and at least $10,000 per offense (every GM car sold in the state since 2015) and a hefty add-on of $250,000 in cases where the victim was over 65. Texas seems to be flying high after a recent $1.4 billion settlement from Meta over other privacy concerns. This may well be a way to solve any pending budgetary issues in the Lone Star State.

Best and Worst GM Cars

Thu, Apr 7 2022

Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded.  While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.

Hurst Edition Trans Am proves the Screaming Chicken will rise from the ashes

Wed, 31 Oct 2012

It seems the Pontiac Trans Am steadfastly refuses to die. Ever since Chevrolet was granted a retrofied Camaro to compete with the Ford Mustang, Pontiac lovers have lamented the loss of this 1970s icon. And, looking at the Hurst Edition from Trans Am Depot, shown here at the 2012 SEMA Show, may explain what all the fuss is about.
It's not going to appeal to everyone's muscle-car tastes, but there's certainly room for a brash-and-bold black-and-gold Special Edition in many a Trans Am lover's garage. After all, if you want the keys to a custom pony car, you'll certainly get noticed in this one. If this scheme isn't your bag,, you can alternatively order your Hurst Edition in white and gold or silver and black. Oh, and don't forget a color-coordinated Screaming Chicken on the hood.
No matter which way you choose to go, your inner Burt Reynolds will appreciate the Eibach suspension kit, forged wheels with Pirelli PZero tires, functional shaker hood, fender air extractors, rear spoiler and, of course, a Hurst shifter inside. The interior is emblazoned with all manner of special touches, including a Hurst dash plate and T/A stitching on the Katzkin two-tone leather seats.
