Up for auction is a 1953 Chevrolet Pickup. I purchased the truck from the man who done the frame modifications, lowered the body and installed the modern drive train. I will tell you every thing I was told when I bought the truck. The front sub frame is from a early 70s Camaro the rear frame was notched and the 10 bolt rear end out of the same Camaro was installed. Drop spindles were used to lower the truck. The engine is a 350 out of a early 70s pickup it has a four bolt main with late model heads, aluminum intake four barrel carb, 12 volt, electronic ignition and power steering. Engine starts and runs great, does not smoke or burn oil. It does have a small leak around rear main. Transmission is a 400 turbo that shifts smooth and stout no problems here at all. No problems leaks or noises from the rear end. Stopping power is provided by front power disk brakes and rear drums, they work great and do not pull when applied. Now for the body and interior. The previous owner wanted a patina look and sprayed black, grey and white paint randomly all over the truck. The front and rear fenders have the seams filled and are molded to the body. There is some rust on the bottom inside of both doors, there has been some repairs where bondo is present that need finished, cab corners have been repaired and look decent. You can tell the body work was done by amateurs. Looks good for a Rat Rod driver. Interior is decent it has power bucket seats installed ( I also have a 60 40 split power bench seat that comes with it out of a Buick Lesabre. Pictured ) Dash, door panels, and headliner ok. Has had some floor repair but feels solid. Instruments are original 6 volt and do not work, spedo works but is not accurate, has heat blower works , late model tilt steering wheel, all glass is good windows roll up and down good. All lights and signals work, wipers work. When it comes to driving it goes straight down the highway, you can be going 70 mph let go of the steering wheel and it will stay there, you do not have to fight the wheel when driving you can steer with a couple fingers. Apply the brake at 70 mph and it will not jerk you off the road it will make a clean straight stop. Chrome wheels look good and tires are much better than half tread. Rides like a hot rod not a Cadillac. Come take a drive it will surprise you. I have tried to describe the truck as well as possible with out making it look better than it is or worse than what it is. Myself I am a total skeptic and would not buy any USED vehicle with out first taking a look and a test drive, or at least have some one I trust come and inspect the vehicle for me. If you are looking for a driver or want a good start on a show truck this is it. May consider a trade up or down for a GM muscle car 1950 to 1970 ( no trucks ) Cadillac convertible or late model SUV. No motorcycles, 3 wheelers, 4 wheelers, skateboards, or any type of water craft no lawn mowers, snow blowers or bicycles. Send me a message with what you have. Thanks for looking and good luck finding the truck for you.

Netflix to feature electric cars from GM and others in programming
Sun, Feb 5 2023LOS ANGELES — Netflix has unveiled a new star for some of its upcoming programming: electric vehicles from General Motors and other automakers. The streaming service announced an agreement on Thursday to feature vehicles including the Chevrolet Bolt, the electric GMC Hummer pickup and the Cadillac Lyriq in TV series and films "where relevant." The companies will highlight the partnership in a commercial featuring Will Ferrell that will air during the Feb. 12 Super Bowl. Netflix and GM called the agreement "part of a commitment to a more sustainable future." Financial terms were not disclosed. Netflix said it will help creators "better understand how EVs can complement and enhance their stories." Shows that will feature GM's electric vehicles include "Love is Blind," "Queer Eye" and "Unstable." Netflix productions also will include electric vehicles made by other automakers, the company said. 2016 Chevy Volt will have more EV range, bigger battery
Tue, Oct 28 2014Meet the new Volt, not the same as the old Volt. That appears to be the story when General Motors introduces the 2016 Chevy Volt at the Detroit Auto Show in January. Today we're getting some more details on the guts of the new plug-in hybrid, and it turns out they're going to be much improved from the current Volt, which first went on sale at the end of 2010. Sure, the first-gen Volt did get some improvements along the way (a slightly larger battery pack, lane departure warnings) but the new Volt – which will go on sale in the second half of 2015 – marks the first time GM has been able to return to the drawing board and really make the improvements that its customers want. That's how Larry Nitz, GM's executive director of vehicle electrification explained it to AutoblogGreen today when explaining the all-new Voltec extended range electric vehicle (EREV) powertrain. "In the Gen 2 is we gave the engine a little more power, a little more torque, a little more displacement, more capability." – Larry Nitz Nitz said that the new Volt will be better in almost every sense: a bigger battery, longer EV-only range, 20 percent better acceleration in the low speed range and higher overall efficiency. This is due, in part, to the Volt's two motors being able to both act as generators and power the car. As we noted this morning, the 2016 Volt will use a larger, 1.5-liter four-cylinder engine, a version of which is already used in the Chinese-market Cruze. Nitz said that this has a number of benefits, including more power and quieter operation. "Some people would say, why did you make [the first-gen engine] so big. I would say, why did you make it so small?" he said. "It works good, our customers love it, but the reality is that if you go a little bit off and use the car a little harder, you can get the engine to need to operate at a higher speed. In an EV, that's quite noticeable. So, what we did in the Gen 2 is we gave the engine a little more power, a little more torque, a little more displacement, more capability and what it has marginally enabled is not only is it more efficient but it's also quieter." Nitz wouldn't talk about how the new powertrain might affect the two other products that use the Volt's underpinnings – the Cadillac ELR and the Opel Ampera – but if you've got a quieter option, we assume that's something ELR drivers would enjoy. But that's a story for another day.
Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head
Mon, Dec 29 2014Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
