I am selling a 1956 Chevrolet 3600 Pickup truck that is the complete package. Truck began life in sunny, dry California. About 15 years ago the former owner bought it and began a cross country trip to Massachusetts. Halfway across the country the motor blew and he installed a rebuilt 400 small block (sorry the old block is not available), and completed the trip. Upon reaching his destination, he spent the next 2 years buying over $5,000 worth of parts, catalogues and upgrades but sadly as is often the case the project stalled when life stepped in and now after a long dry storage this awesome truck is up for sale.

Truck is pretty much rust free but due to long storage has surface stuff you can see in the pictures but very slight. The frame is clean enough to eat off of! Interior is the same with solid floors. Some rust has appeared underneath doors but that is it. Truck runs fine but with todays "corn gas" naturally needs to be fine tuned with fresh fuel. A brand new fuel pump and 700 Holly carburetor were just installed.I ran it around town and everything works as it should including brakes. The power of this motor will please any new owner. Frame is spotless, interior is pretty much untouched with solid seat and floors. Body is very straight with only a couple small spots that need looking at. Brakes, suspension etc., are all working fine. Past owner planned to switch out the front end and all parts are there to finish if you choose, according to him. I took pictures of it all and it appears that except for a coupe bushings, he is correct.

Parts List;

400 small block, rebuilt
4 speed close ratio transmission
3.59 posi rear end
Hurst shifter
aluminum intake
headers
dual exhaust
electronic ignition
Holly 4-barrel carb
**New Mustang II front end
(independent front suspension, rack and pinion steering and 11 inch disc brakes)
   in boxes to be installed
New hardwood (appears to be teak or mahogany) kit and stainless steel bed kit in boxes to be installed
chrome water pump
brand new Holley 700 (installed)
brand new fuel pump (installed)
New Stainless Steel Adjustable Steering Column
New rubber gaskets for all windows unopened
New Power Brake booster and pedal
New Master Cylinder
Sway Bar
Repair manuals and parts catalogues to assist in the project
Most boxes were unopened with original invoices included! Totaling over $5,000 from purchase dates
(Sadly, the tailgate was lost while motor was being installed but are available on line for less than $200.00)

This truck is the complete package for the Father and son project or retired gear head to complete and have a very rare truck that will be worth at least double what the package costs. These old trucks are harder and harder to find, especially in this condition with such an extensive group of parts. Truck comes with a clear MA title, so no issues for future registration to the new owner. Naturally the vehicle has no warranty due to age and due to being for sale locally I reserve the right to end the auction early. I am happy to help load vehicle for transport but shipping costs are the responsibility of new owner. I have tried to describe the truck honestly but probably am forgetting something, so I encourage questions since my mind reading skills are very poor.

Due to so many (not serious) people out there, I need to speak with anyone with either negative or less than 10 feedbacks, or the bids will be cancelled. This is serious business and I do not have the time, energy or money to deal with dishonest folks who ruin auctions.

Good luck bidding on this classic, collector truck. A nice running, driving, stopping , mostly rust free vehicle with a ton of parts and manuals to make you the talk of your local car shows!! You can enjoy driving the truck as is, while working on it. Many more pictures are available and I can shoot addition ones if you like. Please include a phone number with your questions and I will be happy to discuss this awesome truck with you.

Thanks for viewing my auction!!

2016 Chevy Volt arrives with 50-mile EV range, 41 mpg [w/ video]

Mon, Jan 12 2015

Let's start with the numbers. The 2016 Chevy Volt will have an all-electric range of 50 miles from a new, 18.4-kWh lithium battery. It will get 41 miles per gallon (combined) once the battery runs dry and have 102 MPGe. Oh, and it has five seats, sort of. To compare, today's four-seat 2015 Volt has a 38-mile range from a 17.1-kWh battery in a powertrain that offers 37 mpg and 98 MPGe. So, across the board, there are notable improvements. Now that that's out of the way, let's talk story. General Motors will unveil the new Volt at the Detroit Auto Show later today, but it's been talking about how this new version – the first major plug-in hybrid vehicle to get a serious redo in the modern era – was crafted with reams and reams of data from first-gen Volt customers. At a preview event for journalists last week, GM executive chief engineer Pam Fletcher told Autoblog that these owners "gave us the recipe" to make the second-gen model. At the top of the request list was more range (check), more "fun-to-drive" behavior (check?) and a smoother and quieter experience (we'll assume a check here, given that the new 1.5-liter four-cylinder – the first North American application of this new engine family – should offer more power with less noise than the previous 1.4-liter, four-cylinder powerplant). Other customer-driven changes in the new Volt include a different place to store the charging cable (in the side of the trunk instead of under the load floor) and a new brake system with improved blended regenerative braking feel as well as driver-selectable regen levels. The requested 50-mile range comes from a new, lighter battery that has increased capacity from fewer cells (192 vs. 288) and a simplified control architecture. Along with the new battery, the electric drive unit is a two-motor deal that is up to 12 percent more efficient and 100 pounds lighter, while also being "tremendously smaller," notes Fletcher. It offers 294 pound-feet of torque and a maximum 149 horsepower of "motoring power" delivered to the wheels. GM says it has worked hard to reduced the amount of rare earth materials in these motors, and one of them doesn't use any at all. The new powertrain offers improved acceleration times, as well. The 2016 Volt can go from 0 to 60 miles per hour in 8.4 seconds, a seven-percent improvement, while the 0-30 mph time has been improved by 19 percent, down to 2.6 seconds. The new Volt is more conventional looking, but certainly not completely ordinary.

So, how do you actually pronounce that automaker's name?

Thu, Jan 21 2016

You probably have that friend who always says Porsche wrong, or maybe it's someone who keeps reminding you it's actually two syllables. Whichever side of the pronunciation debate you fall on, you'll find someone to root for in the video above. And before you ask, this was all the video team's idea. So don't get mad at me for being the voice of reason. BMW Chevrolet Hyundai Nissan Rolls-Royce Videos Original Video nissan qashqai

GM program sees dealers taking on way more loaner cars

Wed, Dec 17 2014

Given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. Bring your car into the dealership for service, and you may need a loaner car in exchange. And with so many recalls being carried out, that means a lot of loaners – especially at General Motors dealerships. That could be one of the reasons why GM is massively expanding its loaner fleet program. While many Chevrolet and Buick-GMC dealerships have an on-site rental car location operated by a third party like Enterprise (which may or may not provide a GM vehicle), others manage their own loaner fleets. But while the range of dealerships operating such fleets was once small, reports Automotive News, the number has been growing rapidly: from the locations responsible for only 20 percent of those brands' sales two years ago to about 90 percent today. The impetus for that growth comes down to a massive expansion of GM's Courtesy Transportation Program. The initiative encourages dealers to ramp up their loaner fleet to a maximum size determined by GM, with a mix determined by the dealer itself, so that a showroom in Texas can be bolstered with a fleet of pickup trucks and a dealer in California can employ more Volt and Camaro Convertible loaners. The dealership gets a $500 credit for each vehicle its puts in its fleet, and can use those vehicles as loaners for service customers, as multi-day test drivers or to rent out separately. The vehicles remain in the dealer's fleet for 90 days or 7,500 miles, then they can be sold as used, but with new-car incentives. The dealer gets a fleet of loaners, customers get to use the loaners, try out a new car overnight or buy a barely used car with attractive incentives, and GM gets to clock more sales. But therein lies the kicker: the automaker counts the dispatch of the loaner new vehicle to the dealership as a new-car sale, which could end up distorting its sales figures. Counting loaner vehicles as sold vehicles is something of an industry-standard practice, but given the volume of vehicles we're talking about, this is a significant development for GM's bottom line. One dealership - Paddock Chevrolet in Kenmore, NY, for example - had no loaner fleet two years ago, but now runs a fleet of 50 vehicles. Multiply that by the 4,000 or so dealers GM has across America and you're talking about the potential for hundreds of thousands of these sorts of sales.
