Are you searching for a really cool 1950's Hot Rod Chevrolet Pick Up Truck?? Do you want one that will truly stand out at the cruise-ins and shows and will have people staring, honking and giving you thumbs up everywhere you go? Do you appreciate a quality build with Resto Mod touches? Would you like a truck with some serious horsepower but also one that is completely streetable and could be driven any distance if desired with all the modern comfort features like Air conditioning, power windows, power leather seats, tilt wheel, custom stereo, and more? Do you want you Hot Rod to have an aggressive stance and sound like a Hot Rod should? Well, if you have been shaking your head yes then get comfortable and get ready to view what could be YOUR 1952 Chevrolet 3100!!!! We acquired this fantastic '52 3100 from a great car guy in SC who has great taste when it comes to Hot Rods and muscle cars. He loves to own a variety of cars and trucks and many times will build them from the ground up, or occasionally he finds something that catches his eye and then he takes them to the next level. He purchased this truck under a year ago after the previous owner spent some serious money having the restoration and modifications performed by a high end California restoration shop. At that time it had a Crate 350 installed but soon after he bought it he contracted with a Performance shop that has built quite a few motors for him. They decided to go with a 383 Stroker this time with a tame 450hp, topped off with an Inglese 8 Stack fuel injection system and backed by a 700R4 Overdrive transmission. The total restoration has less then 700 miles on it and the motor itself is still being broken in with under 300 miles on it. This truck has all of the great features that you would expect plus some pretty cool custom touches. She truly stands out thanks in part to the color, quality and stance. This truck was built to win shows but also made to be driven and enjoyed. I have had the pleasure of putting about 50 miles on it recently and it drives and handling amazingly and drew quite the crowd at a recent Cruise-in of over 1000 vehicles. I will do my best to provide enough large images, a video of it starting up and running, and a detailed and honest description to help you determine if this is the Hot Rod Truck for you! We do have this truck advertised on several other sites and reserve the right to end our listing if it sells before the end. Serious buyers should give me a call to discuss putting this truck in their garage before the next car guy or gal does!! Sit back and enjoy! This truck was restored in California and was finished in August 2013. The gentleman who had the restoration done picked a jaw-dropping gorgeous color of Pearl Cream that flows beautifully on the curvy lines of this truck. As you can see the roof was chopped 3" professionally and the best way to describe this trucks body is "smoothed and slammed"! Door handles were shaved with electric poppers installed, rear roll pan with frenched in taillights, side exhaust sculpted in to the running boards, custom molded bed rails, custom power operated bed covers over a polished aluminum diamond plate inner bed with custom mini tubs, custom shaved hood with custom automated hood actuator lift, and on and on!!! Halogen headlights with turn signals integrated in the chrome front bumper Paint is near flawless and body gaps excellent. Body panels are extremely straight. Custom tinted glass and windshield look awesome. The only real flaws I noticed are a couple of chips on the bottom edge of the hood that cannot be seen when hood is down and maybe a tiny chip or two elsewhere just to be safe. This is a show winning quality truck and I am sure the next owner will be extremely pleased with the quality!! I will let the pics do the talking: Complimenting the Pearl Cream exterior is a gorgeous custom Slate Gray and Ivory colored leather and suede interior. Front bucket seats are power with several comfort controls and are wrapped in beautiful and supple Ivory and slate gray leather. These seats are extremely comfortable and you will be amazed how much room is inside the cab even with the 3" chop of the roof. I am 6 ft. and there is plenty of head and leg room for taller drivers and passengers. Custom door panels with leather and suede accents look awesome. Headliner finished in grey suede. Custom fabricated center console houses the power window switches as well as 2 usb charging ports. Custom carpeting and floor mats. Beautiful polished I-Did it tilt steering column with a custom polished Billett leather wrapped steering wheel. Polished Billett knobs all along the dash. Custom switches on the dash that control the power bed lift actuators and powered hood lift actuator. Icy cold Vintage Air conditioning neatly installed under dash. Nice original style polished dash panels. Great set of Dolphin white face gauges. Awesome custom touch screen stereo system neatly installed with flip up screen, custom multi speaker system with custom mounted amp and sub neatly mounted behind front seats. All new wiring throughout the truck. Everything is working properly although the speedometer is reading about 10mph fast. Just under 700 miles on the odometer since the truck was built. Interior is show quality just like the exterior! Take a peek inside...she sure is comfy!!! As I mentioned, the previous owner had a professionally built 383 Stroker V8 motor built specifically for this truck in May, 2014. There are just under 300 miles on this motor so it is barely broken in. I have the receipts for the build on the motor with all of the details as well as the dyno sheet and a CD of the actual dyno test that was performed. He wanted to dress this motor up a bit and make sure it was going to be extremely low maintenance so he added an Inglese 8 stack fuel injection system which is awesome and looks amazing. Ceramic coated polished headers breath out a great set of hooker header mufflers that exit neatly out the side of the running boards. I will not list all of the performance components that went in to the build of the motor but they are all top name brand high performance parts and cost him a little over $17,000. 2 words describe the accessories under the hood, Chromed and polished! A March Polished serpentine pulley kit organizes all of the belts to the accessories and looks awesome. MSD coil and and ignition system fires this baby up. New, new new.....!!! Power is put to the rear end through a brand new 700R4 Automatic overdrive transition that shifts beautifully. Suspension and handling is awesome . Mustang II front clip with custom lowered front suspension, custom lowered rear suspension with custom rear traction bars and leaf springs. 4 Wheel power disc brakes, drilled and slotted rotors and painted calibers. Power steering handles beautifully and power brakes stop this truck with ease. This truck truly drives and handles like a new truck and nothing like a 1950's truck.....all good!! I am sure I am missing quite a few details when it comes to the drivetrain and suspension but I have receipts that detail all that was done. To drive it is to love it!!!! Of course lets not forget the gorgeous set of expensive custom wheels. 20" rears and 18's up front wrapped in Mickey Thompson street tires. Take a look and then make sure you listen to the video of this Hot Rod starting up and running!! HERE IS A SHORT VIDEO SO YOU CAN HEAR THIS AWESOME 450HP TRUCK START UP AND RUNNING...TURN UP YOUR VOLUME AND CLICK THE ARROW TO START: DRIVE THE DREAM!! Mark Reuss: GM can't afford product 'misses,' has 'thought about' CT6 V-Series
Thu, Apr 9 2015Mark Reuss is a busy man. He oversees General Motors' global product portfolio, an all-encompassing task for a company that sold more than 9.9 million cars and trucks last year. When GM launches a well-received product, like the road-going rocket ship that is the Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – he gets credit. When the company stumbles with the slow-selling Chevy Malibu or grapples with fallout from the decade-old Saturn Ion and its flawed ignition switch, he gets blamed. GM owners, the press and sometimes the federal government, demand answers. Bob Lutz famously held the job before Reuss. So did Mary Barra, who's now GM's chief executive. There's a New GM, but the lineage is connected to a long history. When he's not thinking product, Reuss, an executive vice president, also runs the purchasing and supply chain for the company, which is still one of the largest industrial empires in the world. We caught up with Reuss on the floor of the New York Auto Show, where GM had just rolled out two crucial new products: the 2016 Cadillac CT6 and the 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Speaking with a small group of reporters, Reuss delved into a variety of subjects, including the new Malibu, Cadillac's future (he thinks the ATS-V is going to "flame the M3 and M4"), and other topics. On fixing the Malibu: "We can't miss. We can't have those kinds of misses [like the previous generation] on our cars and crossovers and trucks. We can't do that. If we do that, we give a reason for someone to go buy something else. It's that simple. "On a car like the Malibu we have a chance to really fix all of that, which we have, and then lead. Then you've got a real opportunity there. So that's what we've really been focused on here – to fix those things." He later added: "We need that car here to transform Chevrolet desperately because it's the heart of the market. And when you think of Chevrolet, people will come back and think about what we did with the [new] Malibu and the Cruze... It's hugely important to us." On Cadillac: "If we go out and try and out-German the Germans, it's probably not going to work. We've got an opportunity here generationally where there's a lot of people younger than me that have parents that drove BMWs and Mercedes, and I think there's an opportunity there for those people to drive something different than what their parents did, and I think that's always been an opportunity in the auto industry if you look at the history of it.
AMC Trans Am Javelin SST, an ultra-rare underdog, is up for auction
Sat, Sep 9 2023Among the rarest of the American muscle cars that went racing in the early Seventies — cars including the Camaro Z/28 and the Boss 302 Mustang — the 1970 AMC Trans Am Javelin SST may be the most hard to find, and among the most valuable. Only 100 units of this unique Javelin were produced, and one of them is up for auction at the Mecum event in Dallas on September 20. The Trans Am Javelin was fashioned in a patriotic livery of tricolor paint — red, white and blue — and arrived after the American Motors Corporation had decided in 1968 to compete in the Trans Am racing series against Ford and General Motors. The company's chief driver, Mark Donohue, would dominate the 1971 season, taking seven wins in his Javelin AMX and that yearÂ’s SCCA Trans-Am Championship. AMC took the trophy with 82 points, well ahead of Ford's 61, Chevrolet's 17 and Pontiac's paltry 7. The example listed for auction came equipped with a 390-cubic-inch V-8 engine with 325 horsepower at 5,000 rpm and 420 pound-feet of torque, power steering and brakes, dual exhaust, BorgWarner four-speed manual transmission and Hurst competition shifter. Its “ram induction system” sealed a chamber around the air filter so that cool air from the functional hood scoop would be funneled into the intake. This JavÂ’s factory price was $3,995 — a mere $32,000 or so in today's money, though it was expensive by the standards of the time. The 100 Trans Ams were among 19,714 Javelin units built in 1970, so they started out rare, and today the surviving examples are highly collectible, if and when they come up for sale. No bid estimate is available yet. Related Video: Motorsports Chevrolet Ford Pontiac Auctions Automotive History Racing Vehicles Classics
Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado, Toyota Tundra flunk IIHS headlight test
Tue, Oct 25 2016The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put pickup truck headlights to the test and found that the majority of them were equipped with subpar units. The 2017 Honda Ridgeline was the only truck to earn a rating of "good." The large pickup truck test was comprised of the: 2016 to 2017 GMC Sierra, 2017 Nissan Titan, 2016 Ram 1500, 2016 to 2017 Chevrolet Silverado, 2016 to 2017 Ford F-150, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tundra. The Sierra's headlights earned a rating of "acceptable," the headlights found on the Titan and Ram 1500 were found to be "marginal," and the ones on the Silverado, F-150, and Tundra were rated as "poor." IIHS claims the F-150 was the most disappointing out of the large pickup trucks as both its halogen and optional LED headlights failed to provide adequate visibility during testing. The Ridgeline (which earned a "good rating"), is usually considered a midsize or small truck, though IIHS included it in the field of large pickups. The headlights on the 2016 Chevrolet Colorado, 2016 GMC Canyon, 2016 Nissan Frontier, and 2016 to 2017 Toyota Tacoma, which made up the small pickup truck group, all earned a rating of "poor." The IIHS claimed the Colorado had the worst headlights of any truck that was tested, as the base vehicle's units were only able to illuminate up to 123 feet in front of the car. The Ridgeline's headlights, for reference, were able to illuminate up to 358 feet in front of the vehicle. To conduct its test, the IIHS utilizes a special tool to measure how far light is projected out of the headlights in different driving situations. The trucks' headlights were tested in a straight line and in corners, while vehicles with high-beam assist were given extra praise. The headlights on the pickup trucks also mimic the testing that was done on small SUVs and cars earlier this year. Next year, automakers will need to fit their vehicles with headlights that earn a rating of either good or acceptable to earn the IIHS Top Safety Pick+. Related Video:
