1991 Custom Chevy Pick Up w/ Earnhardt "Intimidator" Graphics. This is a very cool little truck that has the mean look of a pro street cruiser, with the fuel economy you'd expect from a 5 spd stick w/ overdrive and  a Vortec V6. This half ton, full size, short wheelbase truck has a bunch of custom features like a wide body /dually flare fendered box , cowl induction hood, and a rear rolled pan w/ dual exhaust cut outs. It has a lowering kit  that gives it a great stance with fat 335 /R45/15 rear rubber riding on new custom 10" wide chrome rallye wheels. It has a beautiful custom black paint job that is accented with bright orange striping and graphics. The interior has been updated with custom grey tweed upholstery including a raised Chevy logo on the headliner. The cab features a sliding rear window and the bed has a sprayed in liner. This truck was built to be a fun cruise night/ show truck and it really gets the looks. Everyone thinks it has a 454 or LS motor and they grin when they see the Vortec  6. It would be an easy swap in if someone had a spare engine and wanted to back up the look with real horsepower. Body is extremely solid and the paint is about 2 yrs. old.

Overall, it is sharp, very clean truck that has had a bunch of money invested in it. It really looks baaad and it generates thumbs up every time I drive it. It is a great toy truck that actually is pretty fuel efficient.

What does it need? The rear tires are not bald, they are expensive BF Goodrich Pro Comp Drag Radials . Great look but not very practical. So if you were going to drive it everyday, I'd put some regular treaded tires on it. There is a slight power steering leak that I haven't found  the source of....not bad, but a few drops after it sits a while. The engine idle seems a bit high and I haven't figured out why. I suspect a vacuum leak of some kind but I don't know much about these engines. So it needs some tuning attention. It drives down the road just fine without any clutch or trans issues. Although the odometer shows 107K miles, I do not know the actual mileage . The engine appears to have been rebuilt somewhere in its past as the block was painted orange.

Reserve is low ...but I am not interested in any games. Contact me if you have any questions or want additional photos...I have a bunch. You can email me through ebay or call me direct at 248-252-4223 . Truck is located in Troy, Michigan  just off of I-75. Bid only if you really want to buy and have the cash. Truck doesn't move until certified funds are in my hands. I am retired and can help arrange delivery or pick up by your carrier.

Chevy Gives World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner A Recalled Truck

Thu, Oct 30 2014

Last night must have seemed like a dream come true for San Francisco Giants pitcher Madison Bumgarner. He helped his team win its third World Series Championship in four years, earned MVP status and was given a brand new 2015 Chevrolet Colorado. Bumgarner might want to hold off on taking a victory lap in his new truck however. The Colorado is currently under recall. General Motors issued a stop-delivery order earlier this month to fix the truck's air bag connectors, which were wired improperly during the manufacturing process. The faulty wiring can cause the system to deploy incorrectly. Only 138 customers have received their Chevrolet trucks, the rest were caught and repaired either in the plant or on their way to dealerships and show rooms. Recalls Chevrolet world series

Bring back the Bronco! Trademarks we hope are actually (someday) future car names

Tue, Mar 17 2015

Trademark filings are the tea leaves of the auto industry. Read them carefully – and interpret them correctly – and you might be previewing an automaker's future product plans. Yes, they're routinely filed to maintain the rights to an iconic name. And sometimes they're only for toys and clothing. But not always. Sometimes, the truth is right in front of us. The trademark is required because a company actually wants to use the name on a new car. With that in mind, here's a list of intriguing trademark filings we want to see go from paperwork to production reality. Trademark: Bronco Company: Ford Previous Use: The Bronco was a long-running SUV that lived from 1966-1996. It's one of America's original SUVs and was responsible for the increased popularity of the segment. Still, it's best known as O.J. Simpson's would-be getaway car. We think: The Bronco was an icon. Everyone seems to want a Wrangler-fighter – Ford used to have a good one. Enough time has passed that the O.J. police chase isn't the immediate image conjured by the Bronco anymore. Even if we're doing a wish list in no particular order, the Bronco still finds its way to the top. For now (unfortunately), it's just federal paperwork. Rumors on this one can get especially heated. The official word from a Ford spokesman is: "Companies renew trademark filings to maintain ownership and control of the mark, even if it is not currently used. Ford values the iconic Bronco name and history." Trademarks: Aviator, AV8R Company: Ford Previous Use: The Aviator was one of the shortest-run Lincolns ever, lasting for the 2003-2005 model years. It never found the sales success of the Ford Explorer, with which it shared a platform. We Think: The Aviator name no longer fits with Lincoln's naming nomenclature. Too bad, it's better than any other name Lincoln currently uses, save for its former big brother, the Navigator. Perhaps we're barking up the wrong tree, though. Ford has made several customized, aviation themed-Mustangs in the past, including one called the Mustang AV8R in 2008, which had cues from the US Air Force's F-22 Raptor fighter jet. It sold for $500,000 at auction, and the glass roof – which is reminiscent of a fighter jet cockpit – helped Ford popularize the feature. Trademark: EcoBeast Company: Ford Previous Use: None by major carmakers.

A conversation with GM's Mark Reuss on MPG, aluminum and Corvettes

Wed, Feb 19 2014

There was plenty to talk about when General Motors hosted its annual mid-December holiday media reception a few months ago. GM had just decided to pull its global Chevrolet brand out of major European markets, where Chevys have competed directly with GM Europe Opel and Vauxhall vehicles, and the US government had sold its last remaining shares of GM stock. But most important was the company's just-reshuffled leadership. Post-bankruptcy CEO Dan Akerson had announced that he would step aside and that 52-year-old Mary Barra would replace him on January 15. Not only would she be the first woman to lead a major automaker, she would also be GM's first engineer CEO since Bob Stempel in the early 1990s. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors" - Mark Reuss Replacing her as executive VP for global product development (and purchasing and supply chain) would be 49-year-old Mark Reuss, who had served a stellar four years as North American president, and elevated to corporate president (from executive VP and CFO) would be 42-year-old Dan Amman. All three are relatively young auto enthusiasts who are liked and respected inside and outside the company, and their collective talents and experience are highly complementary. I've interviewed Barra and found her smart, personable and knowledgeable, though she carefully walks the corporate line in speaking and answering questions. I met and chatted with Ammann for the first time at that holiday reception, and he made a good first impression. But I've known Reuss for some time as a genuinely good guy and a highly capable and inspiring leader, and I believe he is exactly the right person for the global product responsibility once famously held by the outspoken, oft-controversial Bob Lutz. So I jumped at an opportunity to join a group interview of Reuss (with mostly business reporters) at the Detroit Auto Show in January. It was an interesting session of mostly good questions, which he answered with refreshing candor and humor. "I look at 2013 and 2014, as the retooling of General Motors," Reuss said. "We've taken down almost every plant in North America, converted and turned it this last year, and to do that with award-winning vehicles and pretty flawless launches is key. We have to keep the train rolling on great product, because the rest won't happen without the best product, period." A reporter asked whether GM was pushing big trucks, SUVs and Corvettes again because gas is cheap. "No," Reuss said.
