Decided to sell this rare desirable Chevy V3500. It is a 1990 Silverado V3500 4x4 with the bulletproof drivetrain combo. 454TBI engine that runs strong and has plenty of power, TH400 tranny that shifts smoothly just like it should, NP205 transfer case (4x4 works great) with manual lockout hubs, Dana 60 front axle, and Corporate 14 bolt rear. They definitely don't make trucks like this anymore! This truck is in very good condition and is virtually rust free as shown in the pics. It has an approximate 4 year old paint job that still shines nicely and looks really good. I wouldn't call it perfect show quality but it's very nice. The functioning 4" Cowl induction hood was added and the rockers were replaced at the same time but there was no other rust on the body and there still isn't (except one small surface spot above a dually fender). The dually fenders are free of cracks, chrome still shines nicely, and no dents. There are some minor dings/scratches here and there and on the top of the bed rails but nothing major at all. The inside of the bed has an older spray in liner with 5th wheel rails, removable gooseneck hitch, removable chain hooks, and a 7 round plug in the bed side. Heavy duty rear trailer hitch with 7 round plug there too! Both the chrome rear drop bumper and the chrome front grille guard are in good shape still. The wheels are Alcoa aluminum with some oxidation showing- I'm sure they would polish up nicely. The tires are basically brand new (less than 1000 miles on them) BF Goodrich Mud Terrain LT255/85/16's which are extremely heavy duty and provide great traction while staying fairly quiet on the road. The tires were $1400 installed. The interior of this truck is very clean. Only a few minor spots on the carpet which i'm sure would shampoo out. The seats looks brand new with no rips or tears in the cloth. The headliner is also fully intact and not sagging at all. The dash is slightly discolored in spots but has no cracks. All the gauges work as does the radio and the blower motor/heat. The truck does have factory AC and everything is hooked up except the belt. I honestly have never put a belt on it since it wasn't my daily driver and I'm sure it would be easy to get it working again. The power locks work and all the power windows work except the passenger rear. It has cruise control also (rare option) and it works perfectly. The motor starts right up, idles smooth, and has a lot of power. I just had a complete tune up done on it (distributor, rotor, pickup coil, icm, plugs, wires, cap, etc) so it is read to go. Fly in and drive home if you want. Would love to be able to keep it as a novelty vehicle but got too many toys and am trying to build a new house. This truck will sell with NO RESERVE to the high bidder so bid to win! I would ask if you have no feedback to email me prior to placing a bid- I've been burned too much lately. We all started somewhere so just let me know in advance please. $200 paypal deposit due within 48 hours, full payment due in cash in person within 7 days unless other arrangements have been made with me prior to the auction end. If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask! I'll try to respond as quickly as I can.

GM takes heat for aborted Silverado riff on 'Boston Strong' at World Series
Thu, 31 Oct 2013During game five of the World Series, Chevrolet was set to do a spot of marketing for the 2014 Silverado - fans at Busch Stadium in St. Louis would hold up placards that spelled out the words "Silverado Strong," a theme that Chevy has been promoting since the Silverado's launch with the song "Strong," by Will Hoge. The St. Louis promo was ultimately called off, though, over concerns that it'd be insensitive to the visiting Boston Red Sox. (You can see the image of what the stunt would have looked like above, courtesy of one timely Reddit user.)
Now, the Busch Stadium stunt might not have been a big deal, had the St. Louis Cardinals not been playing the Boston Red Sox. Following the tragic events in Boston during the marathon back in April, the phrase "Boston Strong" gained traction among the city's citizens, especially at sporting events. So, you can imagine that Chevy's appropriation of the phrase might not sit well with some fans.
The stunt was ultimately shelved after images of the signs went viral before the game, leading to a bit of a public backlash. Chevy spokesperson Michael Albano said of the promo that it was meant to show the brand's "commitment to baseball and its fans." But after the images went viral, the company "realized there was the possibility that we may offend some of the very fans we were trying to honor," Albano told Automotive News via email.
Question of the Day: Worst year of the Malaise Era?
Thu, Jun 23 2016The Malaise Era for cars in the United States spanned the 1973 through 1983 model years, and featured such abominations as a Corvette with just 205 horsepower (from the optional engine!) and MGBs with suspensions jacked way up to meet new headlight-height requirements. There were many low points throughout this gloomy period, of course. The horrifyingly low power and fuel-economy numbers for big V8s during the middle years of the Malaise Era make a strong case for 1974 or 1975— the years of Nixon's resignation and the Fall of Saigon, respectively— as the most Malaisey years. But then the GM-pummeling debacles of the Chevy Citation and Cadillac Cimarron could make an early-1980s year the low point. 1979, the year of the ignominious Chrysler bailout? You choose! Junkyard Gem: 2003 Chevrolet Tracker
Wed, May 22 2024When General Motors created the Geo brand to sell vehicles designed and — in some cases — built by Japanese partners, the first four models were introduced for the 1989 model year: the Metro (Suzuki Cultus), Prizm (Toyota Sprinter), Spectrum (Isuzu Gemini) and Tracker (Suzuki Sidekick). Geo got the axe in 1997, with the Metro, Prizm and Tracker becoming Chevrolets. Of those, the Tracker survived the longest, with U.S.-market sales continuing into 2004. Here's an example of a very late Tracker, found in a North Carolina car graveyard recently. The 1989-1997 first-generation Trackers were based on the Suzuki Sidekick, while the 1998-2004 Trackers had the Suzuki Vitaras (not to be confused with the much grander Grand Vitaras) as their siblings. Production of these trucks for the South American market (as the Chevrolet Vitara) continued in Ecuador all the way through 2014. The Tracker name has also gone onto some versions of the Chevrolet Trax around the world. This one is a base four-door hard top/rear-wheel-drive model, which had an MSRP of $17,330. That's about $29,789 in 2024 dollars. You'll find one in every car. You'll see. The engine is a Suzuki 2.0-liter straight-four rated at 127 horsepower and 134 pound-feet. A five-speed manual was base equipment, but very few American vehicle shoppers wanted three pedals by the middle 2000s. This truck has the Aisin four-speed automatic. We like it loud. It appears that someone associated with this truck graduated from Julius L. Chambers High School last year. In the United States, the Tracker was replaced by the Saturn Vue. If Tracker can handle (unspecified Middle Eastern country), it can survive the jungle back home. Siempre contigo.
