Up for auction is a 1979 Chevy Truck that was recently donated to a national charitable foundation and is being sold with NO RESERVE.
The vehicle is equipped with an 8cyl engine and automatic transmission. The odometer shows 70,827 miles. It’s fairly well equipped with most of the options. The seats are blue and torn, although a good detail will make a huge difference. The exterior of the car is white and is showing signs of wear and is faded. It has a few door dings and scratches. The tires appear to HAVE ROUGHLY 50% road life left. Please refer to the photos included in this auction for more description details.
This vehicle does not run or drive.
The initial indication from our lot personnel is that the ENGINE IS FROZEN is non-functional and needs replacing, however, this is
purely speculation. ***CRACKED WINDSHIELD
As is the case with all donated vehicles we do not perform a detailed mechanical or physical inspection. We simply convey what we are able to observe. There may be other problems with the car that are not evident. Therefore, please bid accordingly.

We make every effort to photograph important details of the vehicles body condition, however small dings, scratches and blemishes in the vehicles paint and body are often difficult to catch in the camera lens, so if you fail to personally inspect the car, please know that these imperfections may exist.
Since the car was donated we do not have any further information on the vehicle other than what is provided herein. Once again - As is the case with ALL our donated vehicles we can only provide bidders with a very limited evaluation of the car's condition. We are not in the body shop or automotive repair business and cannot guarantee that our observations are 100% accurate. The car has not been formally inspected and buyers should understand that the opinions provided herein are purely observational and are not a guarantee of condition.

The biggest gas-guzzlers of 2024: 'The Meanest List' is the opposite of greenest cars
Thu, Mar 14 2024In some circles — especially some automotive circles — bigger is better. This explains the Hummer, for example. In its so-called “Meanest List” of a dozen models, the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) makes no apologies for berating “the worst-performing mass market automobiles” sold in 2024 in the U.S. The most diminutive car on the list is a Chevy Corvette Z06. At the top of this particular heap is the Mercedes-Benz AMG G63, a gas-powered SUV that the environmental agency says was “the worst-performing vehicle of the more than 1,200 models assessed by Greener Cars and has an annual fuel cost over $4,000.” Not to mention its MSRP of around $184,000. Silverado HD, Touareg V10 TDI face off in diesel tug-of-war
Sun, 30 Dec 2012A couple weeks ago, we watched a Chevrolet Silverado get dominated by a Dodge Ram Heavy Duty in a fullsize pickup tug-of-war, but in that truck's defense, Chevy's Vortec gas engine was no match for the torquey Cummins turbo diesel. For our next round of vehicular tug-of-war, a Duramax-powered Silverado HD takes on Volkswagen Touareg V10 TDI.
Now, on paper, putting the Duramax V8's 365 horsepower and 660 pound-feet of torque up against the V10's 310 hp and 553 lb-ft looks like an easy win for the Bowtie, but unfortunately, this battle has a similar result as the Dodge versus Chevy video, with the Silverado smoking its tires trying to move forward as it gets pulled backwards. Put another way: YouTube 2, Chevy Silverado 0.
It just goes to show, though, that big tires, bolt-on fender flares and goofy smoke stacks don't improve your towing abilities. Besides, what did the Silverado driver expect when the Touareg V10 TDI has towed a Boeing 747 in the past?
GM warning 800,000 owners that their cars may need oil changes more frequently than they say
Fri, 05 Apr 2013The days of changing your engine oil every 3,000 miles are long gone thanks to most cars having automatic oil monitoring systems, but about 800,000 General Motors vehicles apparently have incorrect monitoring software that is leading to premature engine component wear. According to Autoweek, certain 2010-2012 Buick LaCrosse, Regal, Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain models equipped with 2.4-liter four-cylinder engines could be going too long in between oil changes resulting in a higher-than-normal number of warranty claims for the engine's balance chain. The balance chain links the balance shaft to the crankshaft, and a worn one can produce higher noise levels.
As a fix, GM dealers will be reprogramming the software for the monitors in an effort to reduce the interval between oil changes, which varies based on driving habits and conditions. Through February 2015, the software update will be done at no cost to vehicle owners, but since this is not a recall, after that point, it will be up to the discretion of dealers as to whether or not they will charge for the service. What isn't immediately clear is whether GM plans on giving assistance to out-of-warranty customers who are experiencing engine issues from the worn chain.
