1970 Chevrolet Step-side Pickup This truck may not be perfect, but it might be perfect for you. As stated in the description, it's not a show truck. That being said, it's a very high quality driver. I have never driven it and not had people smile and wave. It's like being in your own parade. I bought this truck about a year and a half ago for a teenager who was getting his license. After sinking money and time into it, I decided that it might be better if he drove the family mini-van instead. (This made me somewhat unpopular among teenage drivers at my house). Life moves on and a dad can only have so many toys before the neighbors call the HOA. BODY: The body is in fantastic shape. The doors, rockers, fenders, etc are rust free. There is some trace rust on the rain gutter trim. There are no dents. The sheet metal is very straight. The paint is older but there aren't any runs, sage, fisheyes, etc. There are a couple of smaller paint chips. One is on the driver door and the other is on the passenger side front fender. I've been told that paint shops can match the color, I just never did. There are new chrome rearview mirrors. There is an extra grille and front bumper (painted the same body color). The new grille is one I found locally but it's in pretty good shape. The new bumper is from LMC. There is a fiberglass bed cover with gas struts. The cover itself is in great shape and the struts are solid. The clear coat on the paint was coming off. It's cool and stuff, just not my style. Anyhow, all that stuff comes with. The rear bumper is removed and has a nice roll pan. The tailgate is held by some cool old seatbelt style brackets. (No chains banging against paint). POWERTRAIN: The motor is a small block Chevrolet 350. It has an Edelbrock carburetor and intake manifold. The carburetor was recently rebuilt by a real mechanic. This truck has power steering and power brakes. The brakes are drums and stop very well. The transmission is a column shift (easier to have your girl/friends/dog ride close) Turbo 400. I recently replaced the filter and put new fluid in. It runs well and starts right up on the first crank. The person I bought the truck from said the motor was recently rebuilt. I can't back that up and have no idea on the milage. That being said, it runs well and doesn't blow smoke. INTERIOR: Trucks this age have been touched by many hands. I did most of the interior work. LMC guys are still sending me birthday cards. I took most everything out and started over. The floorpans were rust free. (Awesome) There is sound deadener (It wasn't Dynamat, but something like it), that rag-type insulation, and brand new carpet. I also put the Dynamat like stuff in the interior of the doors so they go "chunk" when you shut them. The carpet has matching carpet foot boards. I cleaned and wrapped the fuel tank behind the seat. There are new door pads with wood trim, door pulls, chrome window and door cranks. There's a new glove box made out of the highest quality cardboard. There is a new dash pad, new instrument cluster, new wood rallye wheel, yada yada yada... The steering column is adjustable. The stereo in it is new and has CD, blue tooth, wireless iPod this and that. It's not a big boomer, but is loud enough to impress teenagers and local law enforcement. The seat isn't the stock seat, and frankly, not the seat I was planning on using. The newer style seats (99-2008) are a direct fit for this truck and have the power this and that and the seat belts built right in. I never did get one installed. Now I figure it's kind of like changing the paint before you sell a house. It's something that I'm prepared to let the next guy decided on. STUFF THAT NEVER GOT ADDRESSED: I bought a new chrome interior cargo light and never put it in. The tachometer is a "Sun" type. When I replaced the gauge cluster it got cracked and never was rewired. I had planned on changing it out, just like I planned on doing other things. The speedometer is off by about 10MPH. There is a plastic gear that needs replaced on the side. Every so often a couple of drops of gear oil come from the rear differential. SUMMARY/DEALING WITH ME: This is an honest truck. It's not the show car, drag racer, hoopty. It's 45 years old. When you buy a truck this age, many hands have touched it. Some of those hands have been mine, some belong to others. I have tried to be as honest as possible in describing this truck and put up many pictures. I think it's a bad idea to buy a vehicle without looking at it. That being said, it's your call. If you would like to "FaceTime" me, I'd be happy to start it up, walk around it, and point the camera at whatever you want. I'd also be happy to show it to a third party if you wanted to have someone else walk around it. It really is a great little truck. I'm a better buyer than a seller and don't really need any "Gas Monkey" people pointing out flaws (already did). I think that the reserve is pretty low and I'm not in a bind to sell it. The truck is in great shape, good paint, no rust, and it runs well. You can make it whatever you like, or just drive it and enjoy the parade. Please feel free to call me (I live in Mountain time so call during normal hours). I'll hold the truck and the title until your check clears or we can make arrangements on the phone. I won't do shipping, but I will work with your shipper. This truck is located in Boise Idaho. I'm happy to hold the truck for a reasonable amount of time until that gets sorted out. My name is Mike and my phone number is (208) 938-7787. |

Recharge Wrap-up: Phoenix Cars delivers ZEUS to Navy, Volt saves gas compared to i-MiEV
Thu, Apr 23 2015Phoenix Cars has delivered its first Zero Emissions Utility Shuttle (ZEUS) flatbed truck to the US Navy. The electric flatbed will be used to transport maintenance materials around Naval Base Ventura County Port Hueneme. The Phoenix ZEUS features a 100-mile range, and can charge in just three hours. It also features vehicle-to-grid technology and direct power capability, allowing it to function as a mobile power station. ZEUS customers enjoy an eight-year/300,000-mile battery warranty and round-the-clock technical support from Phoenix. Phoenix launched an electric passenger shuttle last year, and years ago worked on an electric sport utility truck before shifting over to larger vehicles. Read more in the press release from Phoenix Cars. A man found that he used less gas by trading in his Mitsubishi i-MiEV for a Chevrolet Volt. Ben Rich saved fuel in part by using his Volt for road trips rather than needing to rent cars. Rich also found other benefits to driving a Volt, including more comfort, more freedom of movement and less range anxiety. Rich often had to turn off the heat in the winter to eke out precious miles in the Mitsubishi, which he needn't do in the Chevy, though he did have a gripe about the Volt using the gas motor to warm the car. ChargePoint has tallied over 9 million charging sessions for a total of 65 gigawatt hours of energy. Based on national efficiency averages of three miles per kWh and 23.9 miles per gallon, this has saved 8.2 million gallons of gasoline and 60 million pounds of CO2. This accounts for what ChargePoint calls a "huge environmental impact." Read more in the release from ChargePoint below. The Environmental Impact of ChargePoint Drivers Campbell, Calif.– We all know electric vehicles (EV) have enormous environmental advantages over gas vehicles. Plug-in EVs reduce carbon-based greenhouse gases, improve air quality and reduce our dependence on fossil fuels. EV drivers on the ChargePoint network have had a huge environmental impact. With over 9 million charging sessions delivering 65 gigawatt hours of energy, EV drivers have avoided over 60 million pounds of CO2 and 8.2 million gallons of gasoline, and driven over 196 million gas-free miles. *Based on national averages: EV efficiency of 3 miles per kWh, gas efficiency of 23.9 mpg and a net savings of 0.924 pounds of CO2 per kWh.
See all seven colors available on 2016 Chevy Volt
Thu, May 21 2015General Motors has been happy to promote the 2016 Chevy Volt in the shiny blue color. On the company's website for the car, though, we can find all seven exterior colors, thanks to the magic of digital technology. We went through the site and played around with the option picker and put together a gallery of all the colors the new Volt will be available in as well as the five interior options. For the record, the exterior colors are: Kinetic Blue Metallic, Iridescent Pearl Tricoat, Summit White, Silver Ice Metallic, Mosaic Black Metallic, Siren Red Tintcoat, Heather Grey Metallic. You'll be forgiven if you can't quite tell the difference between the Pearl and the White in these images, but both colors have been available on the 2015 model year Volt. GM spokesperson Michelle Malcho told AutoblogGreen that buyers do have a preference, with Pearl accounting for 10 percent of the sales and Summit White accounted for 17 percent. The Pearl color is a tri-coat and thus has a $995 price premium, which was likely a factor as well. The interior of the new Volt will have two cloth options (Dark Ash and Jet Black) and three leather choices (Dark Ash, Jet Black, and Jet Black/Brandy). That last one will only be available in the LTZ trim level. You can play around with the color adjuster yourself here. Kathy Sirvio, the color and design manager of the Volt design team, told AutoblogGreen that, "Kinetic Blue is a marketing name. At Design we call it 'Blew Me Away'. That is it in a nutshell. The blue color is vibrant, rich and eye catching. It may not sell at the highest volume, as we know from history whites, blacks and silvers are the dominant color sales. However, it will tell everyone who sees it on the street that here comes a new vehicle and it is expressive in all the right ways." The next-gen Volt arrives later this year with a starting price of $33,995. The powertrain upgrades will push the all-electric range to 50 miles and the gas-only fuel economy to 41 miles per gallon. 2020 Chevy Silverado, GMC Sierra recalled due to faulty brake component
Wed, Mar 11 2020General Motors is recalling 2020 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 pickups to fix a defect in the trucks' brake system. Certain Silverado and Sierra pickups were produced with brake-caliper bolts that were not heat-treated. Without heat-treating, the bolts are weaker than they should be, and there is a risk that they could fail, which would affect the trucks' braking performance, possibly leading to a crash. In total, 20,352 vehicles are affected. Owners of affected trucks will be contacted by GM. Dealers will inspect the bolts and replace those that are defective. Related Video: Â Â Â
