1959 Chevy short wide bed big back window with chop top.I am listing this truck for a good friend of mine. He started building this truck in 2009. He spent 2 1/2 years building this truck. If you was to pay a shop to build this same truck you would spend around a $100,000.00 to $125,000.00 . The only thing he didnt have done on this truck was put Heat and A/C on it as he was only doing car shows with the truck and wanted a clean look under the hood with a smooth firewall. You can add vintage heat and a/c for not allot of money or time. The truck has had less than 1500 miles put on it since built. The only reason the truck is for sale is due to some health issues and he is no longer able to show the truck. The Body of the truck was a nice clean almost rust free truck when he started on it. The top is chopped 4 inches in the back and 5 inches in the front. All custom made glass with over $4000.00 spent on glass.Custom battery box in bed. The side trim was removed and did some custom work as you see in the pics. There is 100's of hours spent in black sanding a prepping this truck for paint not to mention the hours of blocking and sanding for the show buff on the paint. The truck is way over the top . Very nice does not even come close to describing the apperance of this truck. There was over 200 hours spent on the dash and interior paint on the truck. He planned on keeping this truck and spared no expense. Has remote poppers for the doors and has a saftey release in case you lose power. The interior of the truck has late model leather seats withe the driver side power and heated , no carpet , new headliner . Nice kenwood radio. Autometer guages with billet aluminum cluster. Gas gas does not work, needs looked at. There is a couple small spots on interior , one on top of passenger seat and the other on driver door panel where it shuts in jamb. These are the only flaw I seen. I have pictures of both. The Frame and running gear was built by another person and then purchased as a complete rolling unit. *Four link rear suspension with QA-1 coil over shocks *Roll control / rear sway bar *Aluminum fuel tank *4 wheel disc brakes *2 1/2 inch pipe with flowmaster mufflers *17" American Torq Thrust II wheels with Fuzion ZR1 Tires , 255/50/17 and 235/45/17 *Boxed frame with 1976 Nova front suspension , built with all new suspension parts *Ceramic coated headers *Aluminum radiator *Turbo 350 trans with B&M shift kit and small stall , all rebuilt or new *Flaming river stainless steel tilt steering column with custom steering wheel *New mini torque starter with heat shield and wrap. * Rebuilt 350 sbc bored 40 over , 4 bolt main ,Heads ported and polished ,Flat top hypereutectic pistons , roller rockers ,Edelbrock intake and carb ,Moroso high capacity oil pan , Moroso valve covers ,Accel HEI distributor , electric water pump and much more . I am sure there are some fine details I may be misssing but this truck is one of a kind . I have the truck for sale in other places and I may end this auction at anytime !! If you have less than 10 feedback or negative feedback you must contact me before bidding or I will cancel your bid. You can email or call or text me at 919-219-7532 . This truck is located in Nixa Mo. 65714 and can be seen by appointment only. I have almost 70 Pictures and a video at http://s463.photobucket.com/user/yngcarman32/library/1959%20SWB%20chevy%20Chopped For a Video of the truck running and a walk around go to http://s463.photobucket.com/user/yngcarman32/library/1959%20Chevy%20swb%20video I need a $1000.00 deposit in 48 hrs from end of the auction and balance within 7 days from end of the auction and The truck is to be picked up within 10 days from end of the auction unless talked about before end of the auction. Tarantino's stolen Chevy Malibu from Pulp Fiction recovered after 19 years [w/video]
Mon, 29 Apr 2013Quentin Tarantino fans will likely remember Vincent Vega's cherry 1964 Chevrolet Malibu Convertible in Pulp Fiction. In a movie drenched in automotive references, the Malibu is very nearly a character in and of itself, and it serves as the subject of Vega's soliloquy about the kind of man who vandalizes another's automobile. It also happened to be Tarantino's personal car when the film was shot, and was apparently stolen shortly after production wrapped. Now police have located the car some 19 years later.
As it turns out, the thieves cloned the vehicle identification number from another '64 Malibu and had the car registered under the new digits. It was then sold to an unsuspecting buyer. Police happened upon the duplicate VINs while investigating another potential theft. Right now, it's unclear whether Tarantino has taken possession of the Chevrolet, if it has remained in the possession of the fraud victim, or whether it's caught somewhere in the gears of justice. Either way, you can catch Vega's memorable thoughts on the car keying in the Pulp Fiction clip below. But consider yourself warned: the video contains explicit language as Not Safe For Work as it comes.
Bob Lutz builds the case for a mid-engined Corvette
Fri, Jan 16 2015Rumors of a mid-engine Corvette are like automotive industry folklore at this point. Every once in a while, news pops up that it might be happening or is under development, but nothing actually ever comes to fruition as something people can actually buy. The latest spy shots strongly suggest a mid-engine 'Vette is in the cards, yet again, possibly for 2018. Now, an op ed by former General Motors executive (and definite performance car fan) Bob Lutz in Road & Track gives the inside scoop on the history of one of these proposals and lays out how to make it happen today. According to Lutz, the company's engineers believed the C6 ZR1 was at the limit for front-engine, rear-wheel drive performance in that package, and the only solution was to move the powerplant behind the driver. Lutz even got then CEO Rick Wagoner on board. The scheme made it at least as far as clay models for mid-engine versions of the 'Vette and Cadillac XLR. Eventually, a lack of money got in the way, though, bringing the project to an end. Lutz puts a lot of faith in GM's current leaders, especially Mary Barra and Mark Reuss. He thinks the chances of a mid-engine 'Vette happening this time are better than 50 percent. The model, rumored to be named Zora, could offer over 700 horsepower in an ultra lightweight body and be priced at about $120,000 to "suck the doors off everybody." Head over to Road & Track to get some insights from this highly respected and entertaining auto industry veteran. Related Video:
Are you the 2014 Corvette Grand Sport?
Thu, 21 Feb 2013When are stripes more than just stripes? Follow up question: Is the product development team at Chevrolet really cocky enough to hide the next C7 Corvette variant in plain sight? This very recently spotted, and ostensibly obscured C7 asks a lot more questions than it answers, but there's at least some evidence to support that it might be the next Corvette Grand Sport.
The first and most obvious tip-off that something is up with this 'Vette revolves around those silver stripes. Obviously the stripes themselves don't necessarily denote a new model. However, when Chevy recently launched its "colorizer" website for the Stingray, there was no provision made for racing stripes - solid colors only.
Grand Sport exhibit number two is actually an incriminating lack of badges. The production Corvettes we've seen to date have all carried Stingray badges on their fenders, just behind the vent. The car seen in these images has no such badges, which is an intriguing omission on an car that looks like a production-spec vehicle otherwise.
