I bought this truck in 2010 on Ebay from a seller in Tennessee and had it trucked to Seattle. It was freshly restored and has accumulated 1300 miles since then. The VIN indicates that it was built in Atlanta in 1958.The following is a listing from the seller of what was included in the restoration. I have no reason to question anything he said.
- Chevy 350 rebuilt by Snakeman Automotive Machine Shop in Cleveland TN.
- Chrome: all new
- Glass: New windshield, rear window and side vents
- Electrical: New EZ wiring kit with modern fuse panel and high output 1 wire alternator.
- Weatherstripping and rubber: ;All new
- IDIDIT chrome tilt steering column.
- Custom Grant steering wheel
- Exhaust system: New dual exhaust system with aluminized pipes and new Flow Master muffler.
- Underside: Cleaned and painted but not to show quality.
- Exterior Paint: In the words of the restorer "You will not complain about the paint. It shines like a black diamond, has no dents or dings and is laser straight to look down the sides. We painted the truck with a high quality PPF base/clear coat paint. After paint we color sanded and buffed to a very high gloss. Most of the truck was media blasted, sealed and primed before paint."
- Guages: Shark by Dolphin.
- Seats: Leather and power
- A previous owner had reportedly installed a front clip from a 1984 Camaro. Disc brakes in front and drum in rear
The style of this RESTOMOD is clean and simple. All badges have been removed. The interior dashboard has been nicely clean and filled so there are no cut-outs for radio and heater. In fact, it had no heater or windshield wipers. I added a nice Raingear wiper unit with 2 speed intermittent delay. I also added a heater/windshield defroster. The controls ffor this were nicely positioned as shown in pictures. I also added proper side and rear view mirrors. At some point the original gas tank was removed from behind the seats and a new tank was relocated to the rear undercarriage. The filler is now on the truck bed. The truck does not have a parking brake.
Due to improper installation of the transmission by the restorer, I had it reconstructed to include a lock-up kit. It now has a cooler as well. Due to the cooler and heater/radiator hoses being connected to the radiator, The 10 bolt rear end was serviced and determined to have a gear ratio of 2.73 as compared to the original 3.9. This greatly improves the truck's driveability.
This is a very nice truck that is sure to please.
Please observe significant scratch in paint near left rear tail light. It came from my bike pedal, and I have chosen to leave it alone except for covering with touch up paint. Otherwise, the paint job is still as good since I bought it.

2014 Chevrolet Cruze TD fires up its new diesel motor
Thu, 07 Feb 2013Ever since General Motors confirmed plans to produce a diesel-powered Cruze back in 2011, we've been eagerly awaiting its arrival. And as part of the 2013 Chicago Auto Show, Chevrolet has pulled back the cover on its oil-burning compact sedan, set to go on sale in the near future with a starting price of $25,695, not including $810 for destination.
The heart and soul of the Cruze TD (that's its official name) is a 2.0-liter turbo-diesel inline four-cylinder engine rated at 148 horsepower and 258 pound-feet of torque, mated solely to a six-speed automatic transmission. The engine also has an overboost function that will increase torque to 280 lb-ft for up to ten seconds. The full brace of official specs haven't been released, but GM tells us that highway fuel economy will come in at 42 miles per gallon. If that number sounds familiar, it's because the Volkswagen Jetta TDI has the exact same rating. Unlike the Jetta, however, the Cruze TD can run on B20 biodiesel, where as the Volkswagen can only accept B5.
Model-specific changes to this 2014 Cruze TD include an aero kit and unique 17-inch alloy wheels. Inside, there's a full leather interior, and Chevrolet will provide two years of complimentary scheduled maintenance, not to mention a 100,000-mile powertrain warranty.
AWD turbodiesel Equinox, Terrain dropped for 2020
Thu, May 2 2019Citing low demand, General Motors is dropping the AWD diesel options off the Chevrolet Equinox and GMC Terrain roster. Chevrolet spokesman Kevin Kelly confirmed to CarsDirect that for 2020, the diesel versions of these SUVs will only be offered with front-wheel-drive. CarsDirect notes that with the AWD diesel Equinox and Terrain gone, the only AWD diesel option in this class is the Mazda CX-5 Skyactiv diesel, which is significantly more expensive: As the AWD diesel CX-5 is only available in a fully loaded Signature specification, the $42,045 price tag is almost $10k heftier than the cheapest comparable Equinox, the AWD 1.6-liter diesel LT which starts from $32,495. The 2019 GMC Terrain AWD SLE costs $34,795 in comparison, which works out to being around $7,200 cheaper than the Mazda. The higher trim levels for the Equinox and Terrain are Premier and SLT, respectively. Some reasoning behind the AWD diesel GM SUV's low uptake is their own price difference to base FWD gasoline models: you can get a 1.5-liter Equinox for less than §25,000 listed. While the 2.2-liter Mazda has plenty more power at 168 hp and 290 lb-ft, compared to 137hp and 240 lb-ft in the 1.6-liter GM SUVs, the Equinox and Terrain are notably more frugal – they are rated 32mpg combined, while the Mazda can manage 28 mpg. With better fuel economy and a significantly lower list price, the General Motors twins are at least more wallet-friendly when it comes to numbers, and as the vehicles will cease to be built in that configuration there's likely to be some cash on the hood on ones in stock. Tue, Jul 29 2014Bentley has been awarded the Carbon Trust Standard for reductions of carbon, water use and waste production in manufacturing. The Carbon Trust is an organization that helps groups such as businesses and governments reduce carbon emissions, use of energy and resources, and waste output. From 2011 to 2013, Bentley reduced CO2 emissions by 16 percent per car manufactured, curtailed water use by 35.7 percent, and saw significant waste reductions. Darran Messem of Carbon trust says, "Bentley is clearly passionate about continuing to improve its environmental performance, which is reflected by the fact the company has consistently invested in new technology." Read more in the press release below. Chevrolet is giving 12 Volts to MBAs Across America. The organization will use the range-extended electric cars in its efforts to help MBA students learn from and work with small business owners. As part of the MBAs Across America program's first year, four students drove 8,000 miles to provide entrepreneurs with free business counseling. The program has expanded, and this year, teams of MBAs will use the Volts to travel to 25 cities to offer their services. Learn more about the partnership between Chevrolet and MBAs Across America in the press release below. A professor from the University of Michigan has found fuel cycle analysis to be too flawed to be relied upon for measuring CO2 impacts of transportation fuels. Professor John DeCicco of the university's Energy Institute feels that the flaws in calculating the carbon footprint of liquid fuel production and combustion make such lifecycle analysis impractical. He suggests, instead, to focus to carbon capture. Since capturing CO2 directly from a vehicle is probably never going to happen, DiCicco believes the solution is to capture carbon from the atmosphere in sectors outside of transportation. Says DiCicco, "Research should be ramped up on options for increasing the rate at which CO2 is removed from the atmosphere and on programs to manage and utilize carbon fixed in the biosphere, which offers the best CO2 removal mechanism now at hand. Such strategies can complement measures that control the demand for liquid fuels by reducing travel activity, improving vehicle efficiency and shifting to non-carbon fuels."
