Up for sale is this beautiful 1957 Chevrolet short bed truck. It is located in El Paso,Texas. It has a strong running 350 engine with a 4 barrel carburetor and new dual exhaust with scavenger pipes. The transmission is a 350 automatic. This truck runs and drives good. The headlights, turn signals, brake lights, wiper, horn and heater work. This is a very good example of a driver quality truck. Please note, THIS IS NOT A SHOW TRUCK . If you are looking for a flawless truck, then this is NOT the truck for you. You can find a fully restored one like this for 3 times the price I am asking for mine. This is a great opportunity to buy an iconic classic on a budget ! This truck has a new starter, and it starts right up every time. I love the attention I get when I go out in it. As far as the performance part of the truck, I have to say that it is pretty good. The attention to detail is what this truck needs. For example, I can see that this truck will need a better paint job, including new lower rocker panels and cab corners. I think that is the worst part of the truck. I can see that under the truck is in pretty decent shape. The frame is in great shape as well. All the glass on the truck is good, but the back glass is pitted. The interior of the truck could use a make-over. It does not have the original seat.I was going to replace it,but never got the chance. The rims on this truck are custom turbine rims from the 70's. They are very hard to find. The front are 15x6 and the rear are 15x8. I think they look great on this truck. The tires are in pretty good shape as well. The front chrome bumper and grill are original and still shine really nice for their age! The wood in the bed is complete, but it shows its age. The tailgate looks a bit worn as well. It's a truck!!! These trucks were used for work back in the day. It is only logical to see wear on the truck. All in All, this truck is pretty decent for its age. All I have for this truck is what you see in the pics.It has a clean Texas title. Nothing more. You are more than welcome to have Ebay inspect the truck.A $500 deposit is due up front. No exceptions. Please note that I am selling this truck locally and I have the right to cancel this ad at any time. This truck is sold in as is condition with no warranty or refund. If you have any questions or concerns, Please call me at 915-630-2034 . Ask for Jacob. Thank you for looking and GOOD LUCK !!!!!

GM cutting Chevy Sonic, Buick Verano production by more than 20%

Sat, Jun 13 2015

General Motors' Orion Assembly plant in Michigan is seeing even more production cuts this year to further reduce inventories of the Chevrolet Sonic and Buick Verano. These latest adjustments mean layoffs for about 100 workers in phases starting in July. "GM Orion Assembly will adjust plant production capacity to better align with market demand," the company said in a statement announcing the change. Through May, sales of the Sonic are down 28.5 percent to 29,082 vehicles, and the Verano is off 15.6 percent, with 15,279 sold this year. According to unnamed plant insiders speaking to Automotive News, the assembly rate is slowing at Orion Assembly from the current 33 cars an hour down to 26 an hour, a 21-percent reduction. GM is also reportedly going to keep the plant idle for three weeks during the normal summer shutdown, rather than the usual two. Earlier in the year, the factory was idled for two weeks due to excess supply of the Sonic and Verano. In March, it was closed again for several days for the same reason. The Orion Assembly plant is the future home to the line for the Chevy Bolt EV. GM Statement: GM Orion Assembly will adjust plant production capacity to better align with market demand. A phased layoff of approximately 100 employees will begin in July 2015 and conclude by year-end. Next-gen Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra may use carbon fiber

Thu, Dec 7 2017

It's been generally accepted that the next generation of full-size GM trucks will use some sort of strong, lightweight material for the beds while retaining steel for the cab. While aluminum seems like the most obvious choice, according to Automotive News, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra will incorporate both aluminum and carbon fiber in their beds. The publication cites sources from within GM, though it seems the introduction of this comparatively exotic material mix is still a few years off. While carbon fiber is both stronger and lighter than steel and aluminum, it takes significantly more time and money to produce, essentially relegating the material to small-volume cars. The main benefit for trucks is the resulting reduction in weight to improve fuel economy without sacrificing the tough, rugged capabilities truck buyers expect. The Ford F-150 made the switch to aluminum for the 2015 model year and it's proved highly successful. It seemed like it was only a matter of time before the competition followed suit. Automotive News says that the next-gen trucks will launch with aluminum beds and that it will take a couple of years before we'll see any carbon fiber incorporated into the design. Even then, only look for the composite material on higher-trim models, with a trickle down to lower-spec trucks possible further in the future. In 2011, GM announced it was working with Japan-based Teijin Limited on a carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic. There's a good chance that material's introduction will be on trucks. Motor Trend puts Chevy Camaro Z28 and Porsche 911 GT3 Head 2 Head

Mon, Dec 29 2014

Motor Trend admits, "This is an unfair comparison." But that doesn't make it any less fun to watch when they pit a Camaro Z/28 against the Porsche 911 GT3. The former has a 7.0-liter V8 with 505 horsepower and 481 pound-feet of torque shifted through a six-speed manual. The latter has a 3.8-liter flat-six with 475 hp and 324 lb-ft shifted through a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission. Yet those are only the little disparities – the big disparities are mass and money: the Camaro weighs 3,882 pounds and costs $76,150 as-tested, the Porsche weighs 3,267 pounds and costs $145,785. But they're both about hardcore performance, so MT takes them out on the street, to the drag strip, to the parking lot for figure eights and a skidpad test, and finally to Big Willow for Randy Pobst to give his professional assessment. Remember when a lotta people spent a lotta time debating Pirates vs. Ninjas? This is like that, only it's the "haul-ass good-time car" vs. the "track surgeon." Enjoy the debate in the video.
