1957 Chevrolet Apache
Resto-Mod Pickup
This is a awesome looking and sounding 1957 Chevrolet Apache. Almost everything has been re-done on this truck. It is powered by a Chevy 350 cu.in. V-8 with a 350 turbo automatic transmission. The engine is very strong and the transmission shifts very smooth. The engine has a large Cam. This coupled with short pipes and small glass pack mufflers give the truck a really good thump. Everyone will know you are coming before you get there. The engine compartment is very clean. Lots of chrome to dress the engine. The battery and the power brake booster are mounted on the frame under the cab to allow for a smooth firewall.
The front end boasts a Fat Man Mustang II suspension. This is coupled with a Nova rear end. The power brakes are disc on the front and drum on the rear.
The gas tank has been moved to under the bed. This eliminates the gas smell in the cab and gives you storage/speaker room behind the front seat.
The door handles have been shaved and electric door poppers installed. A rolled pan has been added to the rear. The hood and front fender emblems have been removed to give the whole truck a clean, smooth look. All of the chrome is in great shape. There is just enough to add the right finishing touch to the truck. This includes the front bumper, grill, wipers, side view mirror and headlight bezels. The grill is actually a 55.
While not perfect, the bright red paint job is very, very nice. The truck was never wet sanded after painting and there is a orange peel effect to the paint. A spray in bed liner really adds to the appearance and usefulness of this truck.
The interior has been completely re-done including the door panels, kick panels with speakers, seat, headliner and carpet. The truck is equipped with lap seatbelts. New chrome door handles and window cranks have been installed. The instruments are in a digital dash cluster. A Lokar shifter has been added. The heater and defrost controls are in the glove box. Both work well. A detatchable face CD player is mounted in the dash. A tilt column makes the cab more driver friendly.
All glass and rubber have been replaced. The side windows were replaced with one piece glass to eliminate wind noise from vent windows. The side windows and rear glass are tinted. The electric wipers work well.
The wheels are chrome Cragars and have 160 80 r15 tires in the front and 255 50 r15 in the rear. While the truck does not have power steering, the small front tires make turning easy.
I have described this truck to the best of my ability. I am sure I may have overlooked something. I encourage you to inspect the truck before bidding. I am happy to make the truck available during the auction to you or your inspection representative. This is not a trailer queen. It is a very nice quality driver. The mileage is not actual. It was reset to zero when the digital gauge cluster was added. The mileage is subject to change as I continue to drive the truck.
I reserve the right to end the auction early as the truck is for sale locally.
I do not offer shipping. However, I will be happy to work with the winning bidder's shipper in getting the truck to you. All shipping costs will be paid by the buyer.
Thank you for your interest and Happy Bidding!

2016 Green Truck of the Year, Commercial Green Car of the Year finalists
Sat, Oct 24 2015Not only are commercial-grade haulers getting more green love lately, they're getting more different kinds of green love. The 2016 Green Truck of the Year, the second time the award has been handed out, is being decided by judges from Green Car Journal and the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show. This year the award is joined by the new 2016 Commercial Green Car of the Year, which crowns one of the little vans increasingly used by small business as cargo and delivery vehicles. The Green Truck of the Year finalists are the Chevrolet Colorado Duramax (pictured), Ford F-150, GMC Canyon Duramax, Nissan Titan XD, and Toyota Tacoma. The first three of those were on last year's list, but since they are completely new or upgraded for 2016 - Ford with its all-aluminum body, the General Motors twins with the new diesel Duramax engine - they qualify for entry again. The Ram 1500 EcoDiesel won last year. The Commercial Green Car finalists are the Chevrolet City Express, Ford Transit Connect, Mercedes-Benz Metris, Nissan NV200, and Ram ProMaster City. You can read more details in the presser below, and the awards will be announced in San Antonio sometime during the show from November 19-22. San Antonio Auto & Truck Show Announces 2016 Green Truck of the Year and Commercial Green Car of the Year Finalists SAN ANTONIO, Oct. 22, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Green Car Journal and the San Antonio Auto & Truck Show have announced finalists for the 2016 Green Truck of the Year™ and 2016 Commercial Green Car of the Year™ awards. The Green Truck of the Year™ nominees are the Chevrolet Colorado Duramax, Ford F-150, GMC Canyon Duramax, Nissan Titan XD, and Toyota Tacoma. Vying for the all-new 2016 Commercial Green Car of the Year™ award are the Chevrolet City Express, Ford Transit Connect, Mercedes-Benz Metris, Nissan NV200, and Ram ProMaster City. "Over the past few decades, new car models have benefitted from design and technology improvements that have brought higher fuel efficiency and greater levels of environmental compatibility," said Green Car Journal and CarsOfChange.com Editor and Publisher Ron Cogan. "With models like these ten deserving finalists, we're witnessing the pickup and light commercial vehicle field enjoying the same attention." The new Commercial Green Car of the Year™ award is part of an expanded awards program presented at this year's 2015 San Antonio Auto & Truck Show.
Looking back on our favorite cars of Mad Men
Tue, Apr 7 2015The second half of the seventh and final season of Mad Men debuted this week, set to cap a run of public and critical acclaim. A decade's worth of interesting cars also made for good television, if you were paying attention. Vehicles didn't often steal the spotlight from Don, Betty, Roger, Joan and the gang, but they added meaningfully to the tone and beauty of the series. We sorted through the wheeled extras from Mad Men's archives, and choose some of our favorites to highlight. The list consists of cars that had at least a small impact on the plot of an episode, though certainly there are worthy gems hiding in just about every street and driving scene. Check out our subjective top five, and then let us know which of the Mad Men cars would be on your list. 1962 Cadillac Coupe DeVille – Season 2 Don Draper's Cadillac Coupe DeVille, all 500 feet of it, shows up in a few seasons of the show, but it's the first appearance that sets the tone. A Cadillac salesman, cut from the same cloth as Draper, asks what Don drives right now. "A Dodge," Don admits. "Those are wonderful if you want to get somewhere," allows the salesman, "this is for when you've already arrived." For a man on the move up corporate and social ladders that's a powerful message, and a pitch-perfect car. 1961 Lincoln Continental – Season 3 The most stylish Lincoln Continental ever is perfect set dressing for the mod show, of course. Though it's interesting that the car isn't cast as dapper Draper's ride, but rather his father-in-law's. Grandpa Gene does what all great grandfathers are bound to: lets his granddaughter Sally drive the big Lincoln while he works the pedals. Generational bond secured, in fine fashion. When you go back through the first three seasons of the show, you'll notice that Continentals show up more than once, too. There's nothing quite like them to evoke the best of the early '60s. 1963 John Deere 110 – Season 3 The only non-standard passenger vehicle on the list, no self-respecting gearhead/Mad Men fan should quibble with the inclusion of the John Deere 110 riding mower. For starters, the Deere is lovely to look at; a miniature version of the American Heartland icon in its green and yellow duds. The 110 appears as if milled from a solid block of steel, just the opposite of today's sleek, plasticky lawn minders (we're scouring Craigslist for one to bring home). The John Deere also has dear ramifications to the plot, too.
UAW to vote on strike at Kentucky Corvette plant
Tue, 08 Apr 2014The current wait time for a new Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is well, not short. With word of a strike at the Bowling Green, KY factory responsible for seventh-generation sports car, though, that wait time could end up growing substantially.
Now, a strike is still a ways off. UAW Local 2164, which represents the 800 workers responsible for screwing the Corvette together, is set to vote on authorizing a strike today, but even if the employees give the action a go, it's far from a sure thing. According to The Tennessean, both regional and national union officials would need to put their stamp of approval on strike action.
"The membership has to vote to strike, but it's just a step in the process," said Gary Casteel, the UAW's Region 8 director and one of the people that would need to authorize a strike action. Casteel told The Tennessean, "It's purely a local situation, though. They are having some issues with the local management."
