1956 Chevy Big Window Long-bed Stepside, Runs And Drives on 2040-cars
San Jose, California, United States
Up for sale is a 56 Chevy 3200 series 1/2 ton long-bed step-side with the big rear window. Don’t see many of these around at least I haven’t. The truck is about 99 percent original showing 55K miles, but cannot confirm if true or not. Has the 235 6-cyl with a granny 4-speed, radio delete with an aftermarket heater. The truck does run and drive, but could us a good tune-up, carb adjustment, intake exhaust gasket (donut type) and a brake adjustment. Truck starts up right away and idles on it’s own. Emergency brake still works. I drove the truck off a flat-bed tow rig , down the street and parked in drive-way. Has a strong clutch and trans with all gears shifting smoothly. Brakes do work but again, could use some attention. All the lights and gauges work, has the original 15” steel rims, 6-lug with original hubcaps and original wood bed still in ok condition. Front and rear windows are fine except a small BB size hole in the front windshield. Front floor is solid with no rust or rot. Cab corners are also very solid. Passenger door shows some rust/rot at the bottom. Drivers door needs an adjustment and will not close and window is cracked. The latch does in gage with the door handle and Probably a simple fix but I’m not a body-man. The truck needs body-work/paint and is very restorable. Front seat is in excellent shape and is either original, or was re-upholstered years ago. Truck still retains the original black and yellow plates, has a clear title and is on a non-op with no back fees. Original steering wheel in nice shape with no cracks. The holes you see in both doors have been plugged with silicone where large mirrors were placed and removed. I have the smaller chrome type, along with new taillight lenses. Spare tire carrier is under the rear of bed, bumper jack and another door panel under the front seat as well. Ignition keys seem to also be original. The original color was the ocean green. Truck was painted a tan many years ago and then white. This truck was a mess when I got it showing all these colors. I basically sanded the entire truck down, looking for existing body damage. I then primered in flat white. History of vehicle: Was used for years by a church nestled in the hills as a security vehicle and then retired to a warehouse where is was stored for at least 20 years, along with another pick-up. Previous owner I purchased the vehicle from, basically used the truck on his 20+ acres for hauling and other needs for the past 12-14 years. The vehicle was left out in the elements. I have placed a reasonable reserve based on overall condition of vehicle. If you have any questions, please e-mail or call me direct at (408) 448-1717. Buyer is responsible for their own shipping, towing etc: I accept Paypal for a non-refundable deposit of $500.00 and must be received within 24 hrs at the close of auction. Balance can be made with cash in person, cashier’s check and/or a money order. Vehicle is for sale locally and will end auction if sold. Thanks for viewing. |

2016 Chevy Volt to make auto show debut this season
Wed, Jul 30 2014Ever since we saw that spy shots of the 2016 Chevy Volt, we've been hungering for more information on the next-gen version of GM's green halo car. It appears we might not have long to wait, at least for an official tease. An inside source that wishes to remain anonymous told AutoblogGreen that GM will make two announcements regarding the second-gen Volt at the CAR Management Briefing Seminars in Traverse City, MI next week. The first, and most intriguing, is that that we will get our first glimpse of the new Volt at some point during the upcoming auto show season. That means either Los Angeles later this year or else Detroit, Chicago or New York in early 2015. The second bit of news is that GM will be moving production of the electric motors from Mexico to Michigan. Details and official confirmation are, of course, missing and Chevrolet declined comment to AutoblogGreen. We should know more next week.
Chevy Camaro is a good sport, wishes Ford Mustang Happy 50th
Tue, 15 Apr 2014It was 1966 when Chevrolet launched its challenger to the wildly successful Ford Mustang, the Camaro. While the competition between the two brands was already healthy, the arrival of the Camaro set off one of the most intense, model-to-model rivalries in the industry.
That competitive spirit hasn't stopped Chevy and the Camaro from wishing Ford's iconic muscle car a Happy 50th Birthday as the Ford's April 17 anniversary rolls around. These two cars have been linked over the years, and while the rivalry took a break for a few years in the 2000s, today's competition between the Camaro and Mustang is as fierce as it's ever been.
You might recall that this friendliness when it comes to major milestones isn't too rare. Ford put on quite a display for General Motors' hundredth anniversary back in 2008. As the Camaro's fiftieth birthday approaches in 2016, we wouldn't be surprised to see the Mustang sending its best wishes to its Bowtie rival.
Is your new-car warranty good at the race track?
Mon, Feb 27 2017We've all heard the horror stories. Your buddy knows a girl that was dating a guy whose best friend's brother once broke his brand-new, recently purchased performance car while making runs at a drag strip or laps at a track day, and the manufacturer wouldn't cover the repair under warranty. True story? Urban legend? Complete crap? Yes, no, maybe. One thing's for sure: Automotive warranties have always come with caveats. In 1908, an ad in the Trenton Evening Times clearly stated: "All Ford Cars Guaranteed for One Year." Although it changed over time, by 1925 the Ford New Car Guarantee only covered 90 days on material and 30 days on labor, and it clearly stated that that there was "No guarantee whatever on Fan Belts, Glass, Bulbs, Wiring, Transmission, Bands, Hose Connections, Commutator Shells, Rollers, Spark Plugs or Gaskets." Whether or not Ol' Henry would pay to fix your Model T if you broke it shaving a tenth off your lap time at the local board track seems to be lost to history. We're guessing no. But what about today? Do new-car warranties in 2017 cover cars when they are driven on race tracks? We researched the warranties of 14 auto brands to find out, and the answer is yes, no, maybe, depending on the brand, in some cases the model, and whether or not your car is modified from stock. Acura has been out of the high-performance car game for a number of years, but jumps back into the party in 2017 with its hybrid-powered $173,000 NSX supercar. And Acura's warranty, as well as Honda's, clearly states that it does not cover "the use of the vehicle in competition or racing events." View 33 Photos So we asked Sage Marie, Senior Manager of Public Relations for Honda and Acura. "If the car is stock, the warranty covers it on a track just as it does on the street. No question," he told us. "However, if the car is modified, say with slick tires or other components that would put higher stresses on the vehicle's parts and systems, then we would have to investigate the circumstances further." Marie went on to say the same would be true for any Acura model or Honda vehicle, including the new 2017 Honda Civic Si. This became a common theme. Chevrolet actually started this practice with the fifth-generation Camaro on the high-performance ZL1 and Z/28 models.
