Just finished fresh rebuild on this cool looking 51 Chevy. Started with front end and cab, everything else is new or rebuilt. It took eight months to build and  turns heads every time you take it out.

I'm going to start from the ground up so I won't forget anything.

Frame is rust free - no patches or welds. Truck has new brake lines, new brake shoes, drums turned, and new springs and hardware. Also new wheel cylinders and master was rebuilt, brakes work great.

She has a 68 Camaro 12 bolt rear end (corporate). Drive shaft is new as are the u-joints. New Monroe shocks front and back.

Engine is 70 chevy 307 completely rebuilt with less than 100 miles on it.  New rings, heads rebuilt, new oil pump, has Chevrolet L-79 camshaft (same lift and duration) cam is Mellings . Intake is Edelbrock performer with an 1850 Holley 4-barrel (600cfm). New flex fan, water pump, fuel pump, starter, new points and condenser, new plug wires, new spark plugs, new motor mounts, and new air cleaner. Also all fuel, radiator, and heater hoses as well as trans. cooling lines are new.

Original radiator has been cleaned and restored and runs around 190 degrees with a 180 thermostat. Also has new transmission cooler.

Transmission is newly rebuilt turbo 350 with less than 100 miles on it. Also has new flywheel and torque converter.

Shifter is brand new Lokar with the tall handle.

New engine-to-frame mounts from Classic Truck  welded and bolted with new trans. mounts also.

Seat is completely rebuilt original with new material, padding and cover.

truck has original dash with new gauges and original speedo. New door panels and glove box.

New aftermarket heater and defroster and new 2 speed electric windshield wiper motor with new blades. Also has turn signals.

Truck has all new wiring harness and 12 circuit fuse box. Lights have been replaced and parking lights and tail lights have been converted to turn and brake.

New battery and new one wire alternator. She is now an all new 12 volt truck.

This is a rust free truck. Front and back fenders are original as is the grill, bumper, splash pan, radiator support and inner fender wells. Cab is all original with 1952 doors.  There are 2 or 3 Quarter size areas of light filler in doors for door dings, the rest of this truck is steel. We welded some splits in the rear fenders where they mount to the bed but we left all the dents in the rest.

The bed is mostly new as we didn't have one to start with. Cab end, both sides, wood, wood strips, and all cross sills are new, tailgate is original with new hinges.

Chevy steel wheels with baby moon hubcaps with new tires.

All new exhaust with side pipes.

She has all new glass and weather stripping- none around DS door.

Newly sealed gas tank with new steel line.

I don't care for the way these trucks look with the hood on them. However I have a hood with all the trim and hinges and springs that will go with the truck if the buyer so desires. Also have original sun visor if interested.

As you can see this is a very nice truck, lots of new with lots of original, lots of time and money invested. This truck turns heads whenever it gets out on the street. I wanted the rat look with the dependability of a solid truck that was sound mechanically.

Paint is Kustom Shop Hot rod Flatz. Single stage Urethane. Bed wood has three coats of truck bed liner on both sides

Also has new outside door handles and rear view mirror.

Need to sell this truck to fund future projects.  The reserve set is reasonable for what this truck is.  Email for any questions you may have.  Thank you for your interest in this truck, it really is nice and fun to drive.

Corvette Stolen In Detroit Returned To Owner After 33 Years

Wed, Jun 25 2014

A Detroit man had his stolen Corvette returned 33 years after it disappeared while parked on one of Detroit's main drags, according to ABC 7. The last time George Talley saw his 1979 Corvette was on a July day in 1981, when it disappeared from its parking spot on Jefferson Avenue in Detroit. He had given up hope of ever seeing his car again, until a phone call from AAA brought his sporty ride home. Authorities had come across a Corvette with a questionable VIN in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. When they ran the number Talley's stolen car report came up. The car is still in pretty good shape and only has 47,000 miles on the odometer. Talley wasn't sure how he could get the car back home, but General Motors stepped in and agreed to cover the cost of bringing the 'Vette home. Talley has always had a passion for Detroit-made muscle cars. "I've always liked Corvettes. It was attractive. The ladies like 'em," Talley told ABC 7.

Opel pulls out of Russia, GM to focus on Cadillac, 'iconic' Chevys

Wed, Mar 18 2015

General Motors is going to realign its priorities in the struggling Russian marketplace, withdrawing its Opel brand and pulling out mainstream Chevrolet models. Instead, the General will take aim at Russia's well-established oligarchy, pushing Cadillac as well as "iconic" Chevrolet models, like the Corvette, Camaro and Tahoe. "This change in our business model in Russia is part of our global strategy to ensure long-term sustainability in markets where we operate," GM president Dan Ammann said in a statement. "This decision avoids significant investment into a market that has very challenging long-term prospects." Russian customers interested in an Opel or mainstream Chevys like the Spark, Aveo (the US market Sonic), Cobalt (shown above), Cruze, Orlando and the like have until December to snap up a car before the brands are pulled. "We do not have the appropriate localization level for important vehicles built in Russia and the market environment does not justify a major investment to further localize." Opel Group CEO Karl-Thomas Neumann said. GM will continue to offer service to customers in Russia. "We can assure our customers that we will continue to provide warranty, parts and services for their Chevrolet and Opel vehicles," Neumann said. Beyond realigning its brands in Russia, GM also announced that it would also be idling the company's factory in the country's second-largest city, St. Petersburg. This is the second time the St. Petersburg factory has been in the news – GM announced that it'd be idled for roughly two months back in February. Scroll down for the official press release from GM. GM to Change Business Model in Russia 2015-03-18 Focus on Cadillac and iconic Chevrolet vehicles Wind down Opel brand and sale of mainstream Chevrolet cars Idle GM Auto manufacturing facility in St. Petersburg Part of GM's strategy to ensure long-term sustainability in global markets DETROIT – General Motors today announced plans to change its business model in Russia. GM will focus on the premium segment of the Russian market with Cadillac and U.S.-built iconic Chevrolet products such as the Corvette, Camaro and Tahoe. The Chevrolet brand will minimize its presence in Russia and the Opel brand will leave the market by December 2015. "This change in our business model in Russia is part of our global strategy to ensure long-term sustainability in markets where we operate," said GM President Dan Ammann.

GM raises 2023 guidance on strong sales, higher profits

Tue, Apr 25 2023

General Motors beat first-quarter profit estimates and raised its full-year earnings and cash-flow guidance after vehicle demand at the start of the year surpassed expectations. Its shares rose in premarket trading. GM made $2.21 a share in adjusted profit in the first quarter, compared to a consensus forecast of $1.72 a share. Revenue rose 11% to $39.99 billion, it said Tuesday, which was more than the $39.24 billion analysts expected. The stronger results stem from rising sales in the US, even in the face of higher interest rates and inflation. GM executives said demand was strong enough to revise 2023 guidance upward, boosting profit estimates for the year by $500 million to between $11 billion and $13 billion. “We did it with strong production and inventory discipline and consistent pricing,” GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson said on a call with journalists. “All in all, weÂ’re feeling confident about 2023.” The Detroit automaker raised per-share full-year guidance to between $6.35 and $7.35, up from $6 to $7 a share, and said free cash flow would also increase by $500 million to a range of $5.5 billion to $7.5 billion.  GMÂ’s shares pared a gain of as much as 4.4% before the start of regular trading Tuesday, rising 3.5% to $35.50 as of 6:55 a.m. in New York. The stock was up 1.9% for the year as of the close on Monday.  North American Strength The automakerÂ’s sales were particularly strong in North America, where first-quarter earnings rose before interest and taxes rose to $3.6 billion. Vehicle sales rose 18% to 707,000 in the region. Jacobson said the company originally expected to sell 15 million vehicles in the US this year, slightly less than the 15.5 million annualized rate automakers foresaw in the first quarter. North American demand was enough to offset a weak performance in China, GMÂ’s second-largest market. The automaker continues to struggle in the country, where its vehicle sales fell 25% to 462,000 vehicles in the quarter. Profits from its joint ventures in the market slumped 65% to $83 million.  The market has struggled overall in the wake of Covid-19 restrictions and foreign automakers have had to overcome a growing preference for Chinese brands by competing on price, squeezing profit margins. The situation in China probably wonÂ’t significantly improve until the second half of the year, according to Jacobson. GM remains on target to sell 150,000 electric vehicles this year, the CFO said.
