1951 Chevy 5 window pickup truck. Perfect desert sheet metal ready for paint. I own six desert trucks 47 through 53 and this is one of two with the nicest sheet metal but I am narrowing my collection down and will sell this for the right price. The other truck has an Oldsmobile subframe and 400 motor so I decided to build it instead of this one. I only buy clean southwestern trucks for projects and this is one of the best. I will keep the truck and complete the build in my shop if the reserve is not met. Super straight and clean sheet metal with good glass all around. Doors close well and window regulators all work. Good running 350 SBC with new Edelbrock carb, runs strong. 350 Automatic transmission. Camaro rear end, original straight axle front end. Good brakes and drives well, needs tires. Tires are dried from the desert heat and need replaced to drive. I drove the truck home and it cruises at 65 nicely. Clean fuel tank. All gauges work, Ammeter, Oil pressure, Temp and Fuel. Someone put a GMC grill and hood on, I don't know when or why but it is titled a '51 Chevy and the numbers match. I have the regular Chevy Hood and grill for a few extra dollars if that is a preference.
Seat frame and springs all there, needs recovered. These are very simple interiors which is one of the reasons I buy them to restore.
Hard to find trucks this clean already set up with engine and drivetrain, only needing paint, interior and tires.
This site is increasingly being abused by would be buyers who do not follow through. If you are not sure about buying, please do not bid. I would appreciate it if you didn't waste either of our time. Thanks and good luck bidding on a nice truck.

GM expected to debut two new crossovers at Detroit Auto Show
Thu, Dec 15 2016Next month, General Motors is expected to debut two new crossovers at the North American International Auto Show. That's according to Automotive News and The Wall Street Journal, which reports that the successors to the aging Chevrolet Traverse and GMC Terrain will finally make their debut. The two crossovers have been on sale since 2009 and 2010 respectively and are due for updates as the competition has newer models on the market. Both crossovers play in growing market segments where sales success is crucial for the respective brands. GM, and the automotive industry as a whole, has been shifting its focus towards crossovers in the last few years. The Traverse and the Terrain are some of the oldest SUVs on the market and are in dire need of an update. GMC's Acadia, the former corporate clone to the Traverse (and Buick Acadia), switched to a new platform in 2016. And the Terrain's platform-mate, the Chevrolet Equinox, was revealed a few months ago. Both the new Chevy and GMC models are expected to go on sale late in 2017 as 2018 models. Look for a follow up to the Traverse's sister, the Buick Enclave, to make an appearance soon. GM throttles back Chevy Malibu, Buick LaCrosse production over swollen inventories
Wed, 06 Feb 2013As inventory of the Chevrolet Malibu and Buick LaCrosse continues to pile up, General Motors will be idling its Fairfax Assembly Plant for two weeks, according to Automotive News. This move comes about a month after the plant was shut down for three weeks in late December and early January for the same reason. As of January 31, the GM had a 94-day supply of Malibu stock while the LaCrosse was a little worse with a 117-day supply.
Just last week, GM announced that it would be investing $600 million in upgrading this plant, but it's unclear what future plans the company has in store for Fairfax considering slow sales of both the plant's models. We do expect a refreshed and more luxurious LaCrosse shortly and an early design update for the Malibu to be announced at some point this year, although we have had no official word as to when either will happen.
The U-2 spy plane needs high-performance cars to help land
Thu, Oct 15 2015Typically, aircraft deploy their landing gear from three main points. Most military aircraft, for example, deploy two gears at the back and one forward, like a tricycle. Some civilian aircraft flip the layout, with two in front and one in back - tail-draggers. The U-2 Dragon Lady is wildly different than any of these. With a 103-foot wingspan but a body that's just 63-feet long, the layout of the U-2 makes a traditional landing setup infeasible. Instead, the U-2 utilizes a pair of wheels, one up front and one in back. With such a bizarre layout, landings are so tough that since the U-2's earliest flights at Area 51, the US Air Force has used high-performance chase cars to guide the pilot down safely. The landing process isn't over there, though. As this video from Sploid shows, balancing out the aircraft to fit the detachable "pogos" – think training wheels for spy planes – is a comical procedure requiring a number of airman using their full body weight to even out the U-2. This video also recaps some of the great vehicles that have served as chase vehicles for this legendary spy plane. They include Chevrolet El Caminos, and the Fox-body Ford Mustangs so favored by the California Highway Patrol. For the last several years, the USAF has utilized products from General Motors, using fourth-generation Chevy Camaros, before switching over to the Pontiac GTO and most recently, the awesome Pontiac G8. It's fair to say that if you're a gearhead in the Air Force, this is the job you want. Check out the video, embedded up top.
