1950 Chevy 3100 Pickup Project Truck 5 Window on 2040-cars
Madison, Ohio, United States
I'm selling this truck because I just had my first child and no longer have the funds to finish the project. My loss can be your gain. I removed original motor and drive train. The body of the
truck has been removed from the frame. The cab that was on the truck when I bought it was in very poor condition (it is the blue cab in the pictures). The truck did have front fenders when I purchased it but they were from a 1954 truck and also in very poor condition (which I still have and are included also). I boxed in the rear half of the frame because my intent was to install a big block into this truck. The rear axle I replaced with a 12 bolt rear end from a 1969 pickup
and 3" lowering blocks installed, all bushings, pins and shackles
replaced on rear leaf springs and new shocks installed, rear drum brakes
have been rebuilt. The original motor mount and transmission cross
member removed (new Chevy big block engine mount and transmission cross
member already purchased but not installed). The original front axle has
been replaced with a 4" drop axle. Front leaf spring bushings, pins and
shackles replaced as well as new shocks and shock mounts. New kingpins installed in axle
and bearings have been upgraded to roller bearings. Full disc brake
conversion kit installed. Frame and leaf springs have been painted with
POR15. I also have a second cab which is on the truck now ( I have all the patch panel for it minus the rear cab corners). I also have a set of rear fenders, seat frame, tail gate,
hood and 2 sets of doors. I have other new parts not installed on the
truck to include, brand new still in box bolt in brake booster, floor pans, patch panels, cab mount kit, brand new fiberglass running
boards, and other odds/ends small parts that are not pictured. I also have the original speedometer, heater box, radiator, all the glass minus 1 half of the windshield, hood emblems, front bumper, inner fenders, core support, misc door parts. Truck is stored in doors in Madison, Ohio. Has a clear title and the original metal door plate. If you have any questions please call Bob at 440-251-9018.

Chevy, Lincoln dealers say they still want sedans
Mon, Feb 17 2020Detroit automakers have famously turned their backs on sedans as they make the strategic bet to double down on money-making trucks and SUVs, but dealers for at least two American brands are giving the companies contrary signals. In separate recent interviews with leading national dealer councils for Chevrolet and Lincoln, Automotive News reports that both brands’ dealers still see a need for cars. The publication published a Q&A interview with Mike Bowsher, chairman of the Chevrolet National Dealer Council, who said Chevy dealers managed to hold onto market share last year despite the phase-out of the Cruze compact sedan and hatchback, thanks to products like the Spark and Sonic subcompacts and the Trax and Equinox crossovers. But, he acknowledged, “We do feel like we could use a car, especially in the low-MSRP range.” The comments follow similar recent comments from Tom Lynch, who chairs the Lincoln National Dealer Council. He told AN, “If weÂ’re not in segments where there is still a good amount of business, I think the company and the dealers lose out.” The Cruze was one of the victims of GMÂ’s November 2018 announcement of plant closures, with production having ceased with the closure of GMÂ’s Lordstown, Ohio assembly plant last year. GM sold 47,975 Cruzes in 2019 but a healthy 142,617 in 2018. At Lincoln, Lynch said the council has been telling the company it needs to stick with the sedan segment, despite plans to kill the MKZ sedan in the coming months and unconfirmed reports that the Continental isnÂ’t long for this world, either, despite the buzz of the suicide-door Coach Door Edition, shown in the photo above. Lincoln sold 17,725 MKZs and 6,586 Continental sedans in 2019, down a combined 15%, but still good for almost 22% of overall Lincoln sales. It's worth noting that Lincoln competes in a luxury segment that still expresses allegiance to four- and two-door cars. Even Cadillac, its cross-town rival, is staying active with the upcoming CT5 and CT4 sedans. Lynch pointed to Tesla as evidence that strong sedan products can resonate with consumers, though he conceded that “What that looks like for Lincoln going forward, IÂ’m not sure of.” For now, anyway, Chevy still offers the Sonic and Spark subcompacts, the latter of which saw sales climb 32.5% in 2019 to 31,281 (Sonic sales fell nearly as steeply).
Chevy Corvette gets Valet Mode with Performance Data Recorder [w/video]
Mon, 18 Aug 2014For the 2015-model-year, Chevrolet introduces Valet Mode for the Corvette, an enhancement to the Performance Data Recorder (PDR) already available and to your peace of mind. The PDR already captures 720p HD video with a windshield-mounted camera, records interior audio with a cabin microphone and gathers telemetry data using GPS, saving the data to an SD card in the glovebox. You can then watch your track-day antics with various information overlays on the center console screen.
Valet Mode will let you hit 'Replay' when your car gets pulled up front smelling vaguely of fricasseed clutch. Turned on by entering a four-digit code, it also locks the interior storage spaces and turns off the infotainment system. It can't be turned off until the code is re-entered. There's a press release below with more information as well as a video that explains how it works, with the obligatory dig at the 'Vette's biggest foe.
Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you
Thu, 21 Feb 2013As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.
