Up for sale here I have a rusty original 1949 Chevrolet 3100 short bed rat rod or parts truck.  I would not advise buying this truck if you are wanting to build a shiny show truck it's to far gone but all the fenders are usable if you can work the dents out and the rockers are nice.  There is rust in the frame on the passenger side between the cab and bed (see pic).  The running boards and tailgate have lots of holes in them as we'll.  The hood looks good but I'm sure there is rust in the brace by the hinges.  There is rust in the floor, kick panels, cowl, cab corners, doors, beltline and all the other spots mentioned before.  The truck is very complete and missing very few parts that I'm aware of.  Mainly the top of the seat, the drivers side headlight trim, the carb, the air cleaner, and the hood side emblems.  All the dash parts are on it as well as all the window garnish moldings.  It has its original engine (locked up) and 3 speed trans.  The key is still in the ignition.  The truck has a clear Ks title in my name and is titled to the engine number by the dipstick which is how these trucks were titled when new.  There's no body tag on the truck.  The truck rolls fine and will have tires that hold air for easy loading.  The brakes don't work at all.  The factory bumpers are both on the truck and I think they're pretty straight.  The glass is all in the truck and the only cracked piece is the rear window.  All of the glass is old and the windshield is hazy around the edges.  If you are wanting to build a rat rod that looks like its been in a field for 20 years than this is the truck for you but if your wanting to build a shiny custom it's not unless you want to rob some parts off of it.  This is a no reserve auction and the truck is for sale locally so the auction may end at anytime before a bid is placed.  If the truck doesn't bring the starting bid it will be parted out and crushed.  Full payment due within 7 days and the buyer is responsible for shipping.  Call 785-220-4411 with questions or email.  Thanks and good luck.

Next Chevy Silverado could get this built-in tailgate step

Thu, Feb 2 2017

General Motors just received patent approval for a tailgate step in a pickup bed. And given the timing, don't be surprised if you see this on the upcoming 2019 Silverado pickup (not the mention its GMC Sierra twin), expected to arrive in late 2018. According to the patent, granted in December of last year, the whole mechanism is housed in the tailgate assemble. The magic happens when a portion of the top half of the tailgate swings down and a step folds out. There's also a handle that locks into position to help climb up into the bed. As trucks get bigger and taller over the years, it gets harder and harder to access the cargo bed. Ford's solution with the 2009 F-150 was a step that slides out from the end of the tailgate. Back then, Chevy made an ill-advised ad highlighting the feature for Ford. And while Howie Long mocked the F-150's "man step" Ford saw almost a third of its trucks with the option in the first year. The GM design seems to improve on Ford's idea as it appears to be wider and has a back to the lower step. That is, you don't have to worry about stepping through the ladder-rung design as on the F-150. Ford's tailgate step later spread to the F Super Duty, and other cargo access assists have proliferated through the truck world. On the most recent redesign, the Chevrolet Silverado took a trick from the Avalanche and added cutouts to the corners of the rear bumper that act as a foothold. Ford also offers a deployable side step, Chevrolet has running boards that scoot rearward with a kick of the boot, and Ram offers fixed wheel-to-wheel side rails. Nissan is in on the game too, with an optional folding step that tucks under the rear bumper. We don't expect Chevrolet to comment on when or if we'll see this feature in the showrooms. But given that engineers are already hard at work on the next Silverado and the timing of this patent lines right up with the new truck's development cycle, we'll be disappointed if this patent stays in the file cabinet. Refreshed 2014 Camaro confirmed for New York debut

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

We've already seen leaked specs and potential spy shots, but the refreshed 2014 Chevrolet Camaro will make its official debut at the New York Auto Show in a few weeks.
Besides a tweaked exterior and the possibility of a high-output LS7 under the hood, we really don't know much else about the 2014 Camaro, but here's hoping for an improved interior, too.
In addition to the refreshed Camaro, Chevrolet will also be showing off the recently introduced Chevrolet SS, making its debut on the auto show circuit, and we'll also get our first look at the C7 Corvette coupe and convertible side-by-side.
