This is a great start to a project. Im just out of time. Mechanically things are pretty good and the previous owner clearly did a lot of work. Engine starts easy and runs strong and smooth. No weird noises or leaks. Steering is tight. Clutch is good and gears all shift easily. There is a new master cylinder that is not installed so currently no brakes. Exhaust is working but I would personally look at an upgrade. The body is above average. There is no visible rust. Cab corners, fenders, door bottoms, floor panels are all solid. There has been a recent, decent paint job (within the last 5 years?) - so there are scratches and blemishes and 1 fender has some paint loss, but that is it. I would use it as a daily driver tomorrow with that paint. All chrome is present including newly chromed lower front grill and bumper. Windshield has been rebuilt but not installed. New rear window glass/seal included but not installed. Headliner material included but not installed. Newly converted to 12v including new battery but nothing is yet hooked up. That's the next big job - finishing off the wiring. Its all there. The other parts that are missing are the parklight bodies (I have the lenses) the running boards (the brackets are in place) and maybe the odd handle (I know the windshield crank handle is missing). Everything is easily available on ebay. Tires are ok. I personally would run on them. They are a bit weather checked but have decent tread and have held air all winter without loss. The box on the back is either really cool or really ugly depending on your taste. It has a locking side door so could be perfect for a tradesman for tools etc. I personally was going to go with a flatbed on the back. Anyway, it looks like an old camper that someone skillfully wrapped in tin with a funky slope on the back. Please ask for additional photos/videos and ask questions before buying. Feel free to call me Markus 250-278-1222 to discuss. Clear BC title. Truck is about 45 min. from Montana border and can be brought into the states.
On Apr-21-14 at 20:00:53 PDT, seller added the following information: I decided to take some photos of the box on the back. I was not going to use it myself so didn't care that much but thought I would do some close ups in case you wanted to keep it.. It is in worse shape then the cab. 1 fist sized dent above passenger side, a 6" strip of rust behind driver side rear wheel and a fair amount of scratches and small gaps where there are seams. No lights currently hooked up on the box but a basic trailer light assembly is included for installation. Again, I was planning to put on a flatbed but just in case you wanted to use it as is. Please email or call with any questions and I will gladly document the area you want to see up close. Considering a rusty shell is between $1-3k, I think there is a lot of value here for the money... |

LG Chem ready to double workforce at plant that makes Volt batteries
Fri, May 15 2015With a history that involves paying people not to work, the fact that LG Chem is going to hire more people for its electric-vehicle battery plant in Holland, Michigan is good news on a couple fronts for the Korean company. The South Korea-based LG Chem is holding a job fair at the factory about 30 miles west of Grand Rapids. The company wants to double its workforce this year to "several hundred people." LG Chem, whose factory notably makes the cells for General Motors' Chevrolet Volt extended-range electric vehicle battery, is looking for everything from technical operators to maintenance workers to production supervisors. The company held a previous job fair last September that resulted in about 40 people being hired. The prior year, though, LG Chem gained a measure of infamy after the US Department of Energy (DOE) discovered that workers were, for a time, getting paid to do absolutely nothing because low demand for battery packs made it cheaper for the factory to remain idle. With LG Chem also making electric-vehicle battery components for Ford, Renault, Hyundai, and Volvo, though, those lazy days appear to be long gone. Take a look at LG Chem's press release below. Show full PR text LG Chem Michigan Inc. 2nd Job Fair Will Help To Double Its Holland Workforce HOLLAND, Mich., May 13, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- LG Chem Michigan Inc. (LGCMI) is conducting a 2nd job fair on Thursday, May 14 as part of the company's efforts to double the size of its production workforce in 2015. LGCMI is an air-conditioned, clean room production environment with strong opportunity for career growth. Over 250 people attended the first job fair and the company is looking for more people to help it grow with increased production volume and new models. The company is adding production equipment and new processes and expects to employ several hundred people by the end of the year. Globally, LG Chem has numerous automakers as clients for EV batteries including GM, Ford, Renault, Hyundai/Kia, Volvo, Audi and Daimler etc. The company's push to build its workforce continues on Thursday, May 14 with an all-day job fair at the company's facilities, located at 1 LG Way in Holland. The event will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. and is open to everyone seeking employment opportunities with the company. Prospective candidates should plan to meet with members of LGCMI's staff to learn more about opportunities available at this market-leading, advanced-technology manufacturing company.
Read This: Auto Extremist advocates for Corvette as brand with multiple models [w/poll]
Fri, 25 Jan 2013The 2014 Chevrolet Corvette really grinds Peter De Lorenzo's gears. Or, more accurately, the self-anointed Auto Extremist has an issue with what he sees as mismanagement of the legendary sports car by General Motors executives. In a new editorial on his website, De Lorenzo argues it's time to split Corvette off from Chevrolet to create an all-new brand, complete with a model range with at least three new takes on the sports car. Capable of fully leveraging the successes of the Corvette Racing program and brandishing the full might of GM's technical prowess, the Corvette brand would theoretically give Porsche something to sweat over.
Sure, that sounds like a party, but given GM's troubled track record when it comes to launching (let alone managing) brands, we say that's slippery slope that could just as easily end with the whole Corvette franchise in the scrap bin. Either way, the notion is certainly an interesting one. Head over to Auto Extremist to take in the full editorial, and then let us know what you think in Comments. Should GM split off its most storied nameplate?

Sunday Drive: A tale of old favorites and upcoming challengers
Sun, Oct 8 2017Sedans and crossovers dominated the attention of our readers last week, led by the completely redesigned 2018 Honda Accord. It's the Japanese automaker's flagship, and people are seriously interested in finding out how good the latest Accord is. So interested, in fact, that no other single story came close to the brand-new Accord in Autoblog reader interest. Moving down the list we find the equally new 2018 Buick Enclave. The three-row crossover has a lot to offer a family, especially one looking for a nice, quiet ride. If you're looking for the exact opposite of nice and quiet, but still want enough room for you and your significant others, the Subaru WRX that we tested last week may be the perfect ride for you. Or, if you just want to drive fast and aren't at all worried about space, there's the Camaro SS. See? We offer something for everybody. From there, we look to the future. Who isn't interested in seeing the first fully electric vehicle from Porsche? And who isn't intrigued to see the Mission E testing alongside a gaggle of Teslas? A brand-new Jeep is always a big deal, especially when it's the revival of a classic nameplate like the Grand Wagoneer. And finally, we have something completely different: the Rezvani Tank.
