This listing is for my 1946 Chevrolet pickup truck, 1/2 ton.  It's in excellent, basically original, condition.  It's a 6 cylinder, 3-speed transmission.  It starts and runs well, seems to hold good oil pressure too.  It's unrestored, has been painted at some time in its history.  It's been converted to 12 volt from the original 6 volt, starts right up easily.  Has all glass in it, windshield does need replacing - crack on one side, discolorations on the other.  Tires are good, battery is good, body is good.  Fenders are really good - best I've ever seen on one of these.  Hood is straight, doors are clean and straight, box is ok for a driver but would need work for show - does have some extra holes drilled here and there plus small dents.  Tailgate is solid but dented - replacements are reasonable.  Brakes could use some work, they do lose fluid over time.  Last owner said it tends to overheat but I've not driven it enough to tell, I've driven it around the neighborhood without problem but haven't hit the highways with it due to brakes.

I think it's a nice old truck, probably nearly completely solid - I don't see any rust or rust hole repairs, cab floor is excellent too.  I suppose some pinholes could show up if it were sandblasted but right now it looks very, very solid.  It's not from the Midwest but not sure where it's from.

If you ever wanted a nice clean truck to either drive as is with minimal work or to restore, this may be one of the best you could find!  If you want to see it for personal inspection, that would be fine.

It was purchased to do a full body-off restoration, I've done several others like this one and this is definitely the best I've had for a starting point, but I purchased a 1929 car and have decided to restore that instead.  Parts for these are readily available, I've been using Jim Carter's truck parts and definitely have been pleased.

Truck can be stored for 30 days after auction if paid in full, shipping arrangements completely up to the buyer, I'm not a dealer, just a hobbyist that enjoys new projects.

Actual mileage unknown but the ebay listing format requires a number so I entered an arbitrary number, not actual mileage.

Paint is quite faded and does have some peeling and blisters, still looks somewhat presentable though!

Mother's Day Suggestion No. 2,506

Thu, 02 May 2013

With Mother's Day coming up, we're always looking for new gift ideas to celebrate the occasion, but hot laps around a track might not be the best suggestion for Darius Khashabi. In a video posted on YouTube, Khashabi straps his mom into the passenger seat of his C6 Corvette Z06 for some laps around Sonoma Raceway (formerly Infineon Raceway) at "60 percent" with comical results.
Now this isn't the first time Mama Khashabi has gotten seat time in her son's car around a track, as his YouTube page shows him pulling a similar stunt - with similar results - around Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca last year. Scroll down for the video, but know that the action really gets going at around the 1:40 mark.

Nissan Leaf keeps plug-in vehicle sales crown for 6th straight month

Thu, May 1 2014

And Nissan makes it 14 in a row. For the 14th straight month, the all-electric Leaf has had "record sales," according to Nissan's marketing team. What that means is that for that particular month (in this case, April) no matter what year you look at, the car sold more than it ever did before. For April 2014, the 2,088 Leafs sold represents a 7.8-percent increase from 2013. Nissan's director of EV sales and marketing, Toby Perry, said in a statement that the "new market" of Cincinnati made the top 25 list for Leaf sales areas in April, so the car's popularity continues to ebb and flow across the US. Over at Chevy, the Volt sold 1,548 units in April, reaching a year-to-date total of 5,154. The Leaf is outpacing that with 7,272 YTD sales. In 2013, the Volt outsold the Leaf by about 500 vehicles, but Leaf sales are up 33 percent year-over-year while Volt is down 7.1 percent. The Leaf has also outsold the Volt for six straight months. But we're excited for every eco-car sale, and that's why we'll have our monthly detailed write-up of the rest of the plug-ins, hybrids and diesel vehicles available soon. Until then, discuss. Chevy Volt 'acceptable,' Nissan Leaf 'poor' in new IIHS safety tests

Thu, Jul 31 2014

Ford C-Max Hybrid also scored "acceptable" rating. With US Nissan Leaf sales up almost 30 percent during the first half of the year, the only thing that might be able to stop the battery-electric vehicle is a good, stiff barrier. Unfortunately, thing's aren't always pretty when that happens in the real world, according to new tests from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). Things with the Chevrolet Volt extended-range plug-in are a little bit rosier, though. The two plug-in vehicles were part of a batch of a dozen vehicles that just went through the IIHS's "small overlap" test, in which the driver's side front corner of the vehicle is crashed into a rigid barrier at 40 miles per hour. Out of the dozen, only the Mini Cooper Countryman was given a "good" rating. Five vehicles, including the Volt and the Ford C-Max Hybrid, were rated "acceptable," two were "marginal" and two, including the Leaf, were "poor." Plug-in vehicles are unique in the crash-test context because of their relatively large battery sizes. In the Volt's case, the driver had a "low risk" of injury, said the IIHS. But the Leaf's crash substantially pushed back the instrument panel and steering column, creating a scenario where the driver was "likely" to sustain leg injuries. The batteries in both the Leaf and the Volt passed safety tests specifically targeted at things like thermo and electrical properties and overall integrity. "Nissan is proud of the Leaf's 'Good' rating in all other IIHS tests, a 4-star NCAP rating from NHTSA and its IIHS Top Safety Pick rating in all previous years since the car's release," the company said in an e-mail sent to AutoblogGreen. "As for the performance of the 2014 Leaf in the 'small overlap frontal test,' Nissan will continue to review these and other results from the IIHS 'small overlap frontal test' as we seek opportunities for improvement." Check out the IIHS's press release and small car crash-test video footage below. Range of ratings: Small car ratings run the gamut in challenging small overlap front test The Mini Cooper Countryman is the only small car to earn a good rating among the latest group of 12 cars subjected to the Institute's small overlap front crash test. Two electric models and a hybrid also are in the mix, with varied results. The electric-powered Chevrolet Volt (with a gasoline engine "range extender") earns an acceptable rating, while its battery-electric rival, the Nissan Leaf, earns a poor rating.
