Good old local farm truck.  Thought 5 years ago when I got it that I would make a nice parade truck out of this.  Has been in parades, but isn't the way I want it.

Ran, shifted, drove, charged, and stopped good.  Engine solid.  Hoist worked fine.

Hadn't been started for 2 years when we fired it up the other day to move.  Engine is now running rough, battery is bad, and brakes are down.  Don't have the two days inside to paint the frame and grille, bleed the brakes, straighten the bumper, remove the side boards, and polish the patina, so I am putting it on the money and let someone else do that.

70's restoration on typically totally rustfree truck.  Glass and seat are good.  Tires are round and hold air for years at a time.  AC is crank open the windshield and hang on.  Heater is an Arvin.  Has accessory turn signals.

Rare chromeless war model selling at NO RESERVE.  Be careful.  Even the first bid can own it.  Starting at much less than we have turned down over the years,  but it is starting to get neglected, so needs to go while it is still good.  At this price you can put the cab and clip on your 4x4.

Can't read the miles anymore.  Most the farm trucks around here this vintage have 30k-40k miles on them.  No one drove them very far.

No rush on picking the unit up.  We don't charge a daily storage fee.  Settle up and let us know when you are picking it up.  We don't worry about it for 6 months or so.

Check U-Ship for commercial delivery.  Truck is approx. 19' long, 7 1/2' wide, and 6' high.  These weigh in around 7000 pounds.

Remember to double click on picture for larger images.

$500 down is due within 48 hours of auction end unless prior arrangements have been made.  Remainder is cashiers check or bank wire or?  Remainder is due within a week.  We will work with you.  Allow cashiers checks 2 weeks to clear our bank.

Add $100 to end of auction price to help pay for Ebay and Paypal charges and our help in loading the unit.

We automatically reject bids from anyone with less than 5 feedback and 100%. So if you are one; we still will let you bid, if you contact us first. We have been the first Ebay purchase for many folks.

We ship worldwide to confirmed addresses with Paypal payment.

Car and Driver reveals spy shots of mid-engine 2017 Corvette

Thu, Jan 8 2015

Some news in the car world is perennial, and some is perennially wrong. Typically news about some upcoming mid-engined Chevy Corvette has fallen into the latter category, with rumors never yet generating a road car. This time could very well be different. Car and Driver has some exclusive photographs of what would appear to be a Corvette test mule with a mid-mounted engine. The car in question might look like a Holden SSV ute that's undergone some indelicate modification, but C/D editor Don Sherman assures that the bones of a C8 'Vette live within that crude bodywork. Sherman points to the closeness of the cabin to the front axle as clue number one of this car's mid-engine attitude, as well as the powertrain-sized space between the back of the seats and the rear axle. The roof and glasshouse are all clearly plucked from the current C7, and the gas tank filler positioned on the B-pillar is another huge clue. The buff book estimates that the mule points to a timeline for sale, even. Testing on this level could mean a mid-engined C8 ready for sale in as few as 20 months, or for the 2017 model year. Click over to Car and Driver to have a close look at this important set of spy photographs, as well as a rendering of what a finished C8 might ultimately look like

Driving Granatelli's turbine-powered 1978 Chevy Corvette [w/video]

Thu, Jan 8 2015

With its curvy snout and feminine haunches, the third-gen Chevrolet Corvette looks like a dreamy – if dated – exemplar of Sports Car Fantasy 101 when viewed through modern eyes. This particular specimen circa '78, clad in silver and black paint with red pinstripes, appears to be a well-preserved example from the era. Apart from its low-profile Pirellis, slightly raised and slotted hood, spacious stance and a certain hand-painted descriptor alongside its crossed flag logos, you'd never guess there's a Space-Age propulsion unit powering this Coke bottle-bodied ride. Climb inside, and you're presented with aircraft gauges and big, colorful square buttons in the center panel. It takes a push of the "Ignitor" button, a tap of the starter button, and a slide of a T-handle for this nearly 40-year-old sports car to start sounding like Gulfstream G650 ready for takeoff. Yep, you're sitting in an 880-horsepower, turbine-powered Corvette, the only one of its kind in the world. Welcome to the whoosh. What The...? Built by Vince Granatelli, son of Indy 500 guru Andy Granatelli, this curious Corvette came into being by cramming a Pratt & Whitney ST6N-74 gas turbine engine into the donor car's lengthy front end. The same type of Jet A-burning mill powered Granatelli Senior's STP-sponsored racecar at the 1967 Indianapolis 500, where it famously led most of the 198 of 200 laps until a $6 transmission bearing failed, knocking it out of the race. The idea of turbine power usurping internal combustion was so threatening that Indy's governing body restricted turbine performance into obsolescence thereafter. A turbine-powered Corvette sounds excessive because it is. But there are also things about this 880-horsepower, 1,161-pound-feet monster that might surprise you. While it smacks of futurist exoticism and cost a then-dizzying $37,000 in 1967, the Canadian-built powerplant uses 80 percent fewer parts than an internal combustion V8 and will run on virtually anything combustible – whiskey, diesel, even Chanel No. 5. Though it's triple the length of a V8, the Pratt & Whitney beast weighs only 285 pounds. It's also one hell of a robust workhorse, typically serving as an auxiliary power unit for commercial aircraft or a generator in oil fields, where it can run for tens of thousands of consecutive hours before needing an overhaul. To adapt the Chevrolet for jet duty, the nose section was gutted and a sub-frame was built to compensate for the loosey-goosey front end.
