1942 Chevy Pickup Rat Rod. This truck is basicaly a new build. Has only been driven localy. Almost everything is new. Good running 327 with Weiland Intake with Edelbrock carb. Aluminum oil pan, headers. I think its a 700R transmission. Frontend has rack n pinion steering. It has Corvair A frames & a Chevette rack. 10 bolt rearend, not sure of gear. Frame was boxed in in front. Has all windows. Both door windows work, passengers side is cracked. Windsdield is hinged & has a turnbuckle instead of a crank. It will tilt out on the bottom but you have to use a wrench. Grill is a 37 Ford fiberglass. Hood props up on both sides or you can remove it. It has power brakes with a new booster & master cylinder. All new brake lines. New aluminum radiator & electric fan, new aluminum pullys, New belts, new chrome alternator, new brake shoes, new A frame bushings, new axel seals & bearings, new front bearings, new shocks on front, new spark plugs & wires, new wiering harness, new headlights & headlight stands, new tie rod ends, new ball joints, new u joints, new interior door handles, new mirrors, new brake hoses, new wheel cylinders, new bump stops, new motor mounts, and more. Needs a grill. Radio does not work. Tailgate was hand made. I have a clear Florida Title. Guages work except gas guage. Lights work, turn signals work, horn works, blinkers work, high beams work, guage lights work. Has 3 seatbelts. Center of seat lifts up and down for armrest or another small person. Seat also folds down. Older B&M shifter in it works but is stiff seems to be getting easier maybe needs grease. Paint and body are fair. Add your own touches to this and make it your own. I do not have any other parts to go with this. No fenders or anything. What you see is what you get. This is not a show truck so don't expect one. Just a cool looking old pickup. Any questions please ask. Reserve is very reasonable for what I have in this. Come by and see in person anytime. Open to trades.

The Corvette Museum sinkhole has been filled

Wed, Feb 11 2015

After swallowing eight of the most prized pieces of the collection from the National Corvette Museum, the massive sinkhole from a year ago is rapidly becoming nothing but a bad memory. Based on the museum's weekly construction update, you can barely see the remnants of the 25-foot deep hole once in the floor. The Corvette Museum's Skydome was not always going to look like this. The original hope was to keep the sinkhole there as a tourist attraction. That plan eventually fell through, though, and instead it was decided five of the less-damaged Corvettes would remain unrestored. Progress has been moving fast to get the repairs done. Even a month ago, the hole was still very visible, and the construction company used remote-controlled Bobcat loaders to fill it in. Now, the museum has launched a contest to guess how many tons of stone it took to fill in the massive crater. The winner gets a print of the 2009 Corvette ZR1 Blue Devil being lifted out. CA Chevy dealer allegedly adds $50K 'market value adjustment' to 2015 Z06

Fri, Jan 9 2015

It seems to happen with every eagerly anticipated new car – dealerships, recognizing that crushing demand far outstrips the initial limited supply of a new model, inflate the price via a so-called "market value adjustment." We've seen it in the past with a number of new models, and now it's happening again with one of the Detroit 3's hottest vehicles. A dealership in Roseville, CA, outside of Sacramento, has allegedly attached a staggering $49,995 market value adjustment to a 2015 Corvette Z06. We say allegedly because, despite the evidence uncovered by BoostAddict, John L. Sullivan Chevy's online inventory listing doesn't display the price premium of the Z06 in question, a (normally) $93,965 model with the top-end 3LZ trim. It's unclear if either of the dealer's other Z06s, both 3LZs, one of which is in transit, will receive similar price adjustments. Now, legally, Sullivan Chevy isn't doing anything wrong here. Dealerships are under no obligation to observe a manufacturer's suggested retail price, a point General Motors' spokesperson Ryndee Carney pointed out to Autoblog via email. "For the Corvette Z06, Chevrolet has established a Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price we feel is right for the market. Actual transaction prices, however, are the province of the dealer," Carney said, adding that a dealer zone manager will be discussing the price hike with the dealership. While we also reached out to the dealership over both the market value adjustment and the price of the Z06 as it appears on the company's website, we've yet to hear back as of this writing. Should they reply to our inquiries, we'll be sure to update you. Until then, we'd like to hear what you think about this case. Is Sullivan Chevy simply pricing the cars as high as it thinks the market can bear, or is this a cash grab for an hotly anticipated product? Have your say in Comments.

GM now finishing and shipping pickups it had parked for lack of chips

Fri, Oct 22 2021

DETROIT — General Motors is more than halfway through shipping newly-assembled pickups that it had parked due to a shortage of semiconductor chips, a top executive at the No. 1 U.S. automaker said on Friday. "We've made great progress," Steve Carlisle, GM's North American chief executive said at the Reuters Events Automotive Summit. "We're a bit better than halfway through that at the moment and our goal would be to clear out our '21 model years by the end of the year. We'll have a bit of a tail of '22 model years into the new year but not for too long." The global chip shortage has forced automakers like GM to idle production or in some cases mostly build vehicles and then park them until the necessary chips can be installed, allowing those vehicles to be then shipped to dealers. Last month, GM Chief Financial Officer Paul Jacobson cautioned that GM's third-quarter wholesale deliveries could be down by 200,000 vehicles because of chip shortages. He did not break out what share of that was trucks. To expedite transportation of newly-built vehicles to dealers, Carlisle said GM bought a number of car haulers to deliver them from factories or distribution centers. The Detroit automaker has also allowed dealers to pick the vehicles up themselves in some locations. Carlisle said new vehicle inventories have shrunk to below 20 days in the United States due to the supply chain disruptions, but the company wants to get that back up to 30 to 45 days with some getting to 60 days depending on the product line. GM sees sales of gasoline-powered vehicles being steady over the decade and real growth opportunity in electric vehicles and software, with one not undermining the other, he said. Â
