We have a 1941 Chevy truck. Think it is a 1/2 ton, not sure. Took a lot of pics, look at them good as they say it all. Was told it sat for 20 years in field from who we bought it from. They drove it there and parked it. We tracked down the last known registered owner as the truck came without a title, but had a newer vin number on door for Oregon. So fortunately found him. 28 years had passed since he owned it. He told us that it was used on his grandfathers farm. Well used with dings and dangs. Said there was a crack on the block. Outside but they sealed it and it kept on running. It ran when he sold it. Went home and looked at the engine and sure enough we saw where they did the fix. We were told that it was a nearly all original truck. Original engine, transmission, rear end. Missing some things here and there. The truck did not roll (rear end) when we got it. Trani was in neutral. I recently PB blasted the passenger side rear drum. As I had another car that did the same thing. Checked the easy first. And that was a stuck brake. Was the same for this truck. Let it sit for a few days after spraying, hooked up a tow rope and pulled it a couple of feet and pop its free. Truck now rolls. The transmission can be moved into gears. The more you move them the easier it gets. The clutch pedal still can be pushed and returns with out binding. Nothing for brake pedal or gas pedal. Just there. The Engine does turn by hand. Well my hand could not fit so used a crow bar. Moved with out problem. We don't have any keys for it. It looks like it is still 6 volts. Can see that the push button on the starter looks like it is stuck in engage. Sprayed it with WD-40 but nothing loosened. Not going to mess with it any more than that. Dip stick shows old oil is in it. Radiator looks dry inside. Carburetor looks amazingly clean. That is the most I can say about the engine. Block number is JAA40957I (eye).

Joe Flacco wins C7 Corvette along with MVP honors
Mon, 04 Feb 2013As part of a longstanding tradition, the MVP of Super Bowl XLVII, Joe Flacco, quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens, was given a new car directly after the game and trophy celebrations. For 2013, that car is a 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray, and it was presented to Flacco by Rick Flick of Banner Chevrolet, a dealership in New Orleans that was wiped out by Hurricane Katrina in 2005 before returning to prominence as the only Chevy dealer in Orleans Parish.
Last year, Super Bowl MVP Eli Manning took home a 2012 Corvette GS Centennial Edition. Manning also won in 2008, when he selected a Cadillac Escalade Hybrid as his reward. In 2011, quarterback Aaron Rodgers accepted the keys to a Camaro convertible.
Though we're most definitely an auto-obsessed group, we did watch the Big Game along with nearly everyone else in America. And we've gotta say, as if winning the Super Bowl and receiving the Tiffany-designed Pete Rozelle Trophy wasn't enough for the multi-millionaire MVP athletes, a brand-new C7 seems like an awfully generous prize. Scroll down below for an official announcement from General Motors.
Anti-purist 1963 Ferrari GTE sports hot rod Chevy V8
Thu, Oct 8 2015I remember reading a story around the time Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift came out. It focused on one of the star cars of that film, a 1967 Ford Mustang fastback that started the film as a shell, and in a pinch, was transformed into a modified masterpiece, complete with the RB26DETT engine from a Nissan Skyline GT-R (which started the film under the hood of an S15 Silvia). There was a genuine (and in our minds, absurd) fear in the article that taking a piece of classic American iron and fitting a twin-turbocharged JDM engine would result in some awful trend in the classic car community. If you thought a GT-R-powered classic Mustang was sacrilege, though, this car will probably make you vomit. For the rest of us, it's a neat piece of engineering. Shown above is a 1963 Ferrari 250 GTE, and yes, that's a 302-cubic-inch, small-block Chevrolet V8 under the hood. On top of that, it uses the six-speed manual transmission from a Viper, a nine-inch Ford rear end, and Mitsubishi-sourced paint. So yeah, it's a FrankenFerrari. Check out Road Heads' interview with this custom GTE's owner, which is followed by a brief test drive. And of course, head into Comments afterwards, and let us know what you think. Is this Yankee-powered 250 GTE blasphemous or badass?
2014 Chevrolet Silverado tows in new configurator, microsite
Mon, 21 Jan 2013Judging by your continued enthusiastic response to configurator notices, dear reader, you enjoy speccing out new cars as much as we do. Better still, there tends to be even more ways to personalize, configure and bloat theoretical MSRPs on full-size trucks as there are with more ordinary passenger cars. In addition to trim level, engine and transmission choices, truck buyers usually have to specify items like cab configuration, bed length, number of driven axles, tow packages, gear ratios and all sorts of bits and bobs.
That's why we're pleased to see the DIY specification utility for the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado come alive so soon after this week's Detroit Auto Show debut. While the configurator lacks pricing (General Motors hasn't announced numbers yet) and full options, you can still spec out your half-ton rig, and even print it out or email it to your friends. Beyond the configurator, the new model-specific site is pretty cool, too, with various videos and closer looks at the truck's new features.
The new Chevrolet pickup range won't be on dealer lots until sometime this summer, so whether you're a building contractor, an avid sportsman or just a guy or gal that loves full-size trucks, you might want to check out the link below to keep your appetite whetted. If you're more of a Sierra fan, well, it looks like you're going to have to wait a while - GMC hasn't updated its site yet.
