A very rare car being that it is a true SS with factory A/C. There were less of these built than the 396/375 L78.

I bought the car approximately in 2006 and totally dismantled and rebuilt the car completely. The car has every original piece of sheet metal. It has the original engine, less the heads, the original 350 turbo transmission, the original twelve bolt rear end. I replaced the original 3:08 gears with a '69 3:55 gears and posi track. The sub frame has all new components, including new springs. I went to great lengths to retain and purchase n.o.s. parts for this car. This car is at least 95% all GM '69 parts. The car has been in paint for 5 yrs, but I just assembled it this summer, finishing it in August. I took it to a car show the first weekend I finished it, and placed in the top ten in show with over 200 cars entered.

Here's a list of what's been done and a list of the original parts:

Paint is base-coat clear-coat original code 71
Interior correct code 737 blue strato buckets deluxe interior
Body and floor pans all original
Engine 350/300 original less the heads which are rare 96 217 castings that have titanium valves new springs and flows 64.1 CC, Everything internally is new
Original exhaust manifolds
Original 350 Turbo
Carb is a 207 which is a '69 350/350 (which is off of a "69 350/350)
Original paint under the deck lid and decals
Original antenna
Correct T-3 seal beams
Original disc brake set-up
Original 12-bolt rear end
Correct space-saver spare tire
All original stainless moldings and emblems
Seats appear to be original with 3 little holes in the driver's seat where a spring poked through
It has a 1971 AM/FM stereo
There are too many things to list, so in a nut shell, this is a true bucket seat, no console, automatic on the column, super sport with factory A/C

We were preparing to charge the A/C when a vacuum switch started leaking. I am now trying to find one and I will fix the A/C

I put this car together as correct as I could. There are only 3 things known to be incorrect and they are:
1. Air Cleaner
2. Heads
3. Wheels

This is one nice car for someone's enjoyment. My feedback score is 100%, so bid with confidence. The car is sold as-is, with no warranty implied. Buyer is responsible for shipping. I can assist in getting the car to a pickup point.

Deposit of $1,000.00 due to paypal within 24 hrs at end of sale. Remaining due within 7 days.

The story of the 2014 Chevrolet SS: "Luxury, power, refinement, handling"

Thu, 07 Mar 2013

Not including the women and men who built it, the 2014 Chevrolet SS has only been seen in person by a piddling number of people - fewer humans than would fill the gymnasium at a high school volleyball game. Not including the men and women who built it, no one has driven it. Even so, it is already saddled with two controversies: the way it looks and the way it shifts.
First to that shifting. Did we love the last Americanized Holden, the awesomely sportsome Pontiac G8 GXP, and its six-speed manual? Of course. Do we wish the SS came with a six-speed manual? Of course. But we'd like a toboggan to come with a manual transmission. We'd put a manual transmission on a weasel if we could because we're just wired that way; if it moves, it should come with a stick and a clutch. Or at least the option.
Let's climb down off the ledge, though. We haven't driven the SS and we have no idea how good (or not) the automatic is. And the Hobson's Choice in transmissions when it comes to sport sedans like the BMW M5, Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG and Jaguar XFR-S and, oh yeah, cars-that-really-should-have-manuals like the Audi R8 and Nissan GT-R and Porsche 918 and every single Lamborghini and Ferrari, for instance, hasn't stopped us from enjoying what is clearly the gruesome, dual-clutched demise of Western automotive civilization. Because in spite of our ululations at the dying of the six-speed light, we understand.

Recharge Wrap-up: EVs poll well in Portland, Tesla seeks office space

Tue, Aug 5 2014

In a poll of drivers in Portland, more than 80 percent said they would be driving an EV in the next 10 years if they weren't already. The poll was small and not scientific, with just 218 votes cast, but it does reflect a slice of a certain population with changing attitudes toward electric mobility, and 80 percent is an impressive figure. Additionally, 43 percent of respondents planned to have an EV in the next five years, and only 18 percent said they prefer gasoline-powered vehicles. With EVs in many ways repeating the adoption process that hybrids went through a decade ago, the five- or ten-year timeframe for more widespread use seems only natural. Read more at the Portland Business Journal. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee parks like an idiot, or rather, his security detail does. His Chevrolet Volt has been ticketed for parking six times since he took office. Granted, those street-sweeping signs are tough to keep track of, but his car has been photographed blocking at a bus stop while grabbing a burrito (who hasn't sinned in the name of a delicious burrito?), and was even caught parked in a crosswalk. The tickets were all dismissed. Read more from the SF Gate. Tesla is looking for office space in Silicon Valley. As the electric car company continues to search for a place to build its $4- to $5-billion battery Gigafactory, it also needs some real estate to expand its operations near its Palo Alto home. Tesla has expanded from 3,000 to 6,000 California-based employees since the end of 2012, and plans to add 500 more by the end of the year. It is currently looking for 200,000 to 300,000 square feet of office space close to its Fremont factory, according to sources in the real estate industry. Artist imagines eerie world where cars have no wheels

Thu, 24 Jan 2013

The wheel ranks right up there with the telescope and four-slice toaster in the pantheon of inventions that have moved humankind forward. But what if a circle in three dimensions had never occurred to anyone, and we all had just moved on without it? Perhaps we'd be driving around in Lucas Motors Landspeeders with anti-gravity engines. Or maybe we'd have the same cars we do today, just without wheels.
That's the thought experiment that seems to have led French photographer Renaud Marion to create his six-image series called Air Drive. The shots depict cars throughout many eras of motoring that look normal except for one thing: they have no wheels. The models used include a Jaguar XK120, Cadillac DeVille (shown above), Chevrolet El Camino and Camaro, and Mercedes-Benz SL and 300 roadsters.
Perhaps one day when our future becomes our past, you'll be able to walk the street and see with your own eyes the rust and patina of age on our nation's fleet of floating cars. Until then, Monsieur Marion's photographs will have to do.
