1966 Chevy II (Nova) Street Rod

This 1966 Chevy II is new top to bottom and side to side! The car underwent a complete rebuild with about 2000 miles since completion . A 1970 350 bored .30 over motivates the car. It has a comp cams " Big Muther thumper hydraulic cam," with flat top pistons, a gear drive, roller rockers, all new valve train, will run on premium pump gas and will turn 6000 rpm safely. A Holley 650 double pump carb sits atop an Edelbrock hi-rise intake manifold. Exhaust flows through ceramic headers and out the back through Flomaster mufflers. A large aluminum radiator and electric fan that supplements the stock fan. The engine resides in a clean compartment covered by a cowl induction hood. Stainless steel braided hoses throughout.

The transmission is built Turbo 350 with a 3500 stall converter, the transmission was built to handle the added stress of 100/125/150 Nitrous Sniper system and has a heavy duty cooler . The transmission uses a B&M Quick shifter. The rear end sports a new posi unit and Richmond 4:11 gearing. There is a driveshaft hoop just in case!

A little about the nitrous system; it has an automatic remote valve for the trunk mounted bottle. It has an LED purge system. With the NOS I suspect this car will run in the 11's I have not ran it to confirm this though.

The front end is a Heidt front end with manual rack and pinion steering, boxed fenders, adjustable coil over shocks and disc brakes. I run a vacuum pump to supplement the brake booster the large cam and altitude make it hard to produce enough vacuum otherwise. The brakes run through a big dual master cylinder and new brake booster. In addition to new brakes all the way around the car sports B&M line locks to make those impressive burn outs easy.

The frame has welded and bolted sub-frame connectors and the rear end has air shocks. The interior has 6 way power bucket seats. And LED lighting. There is a SunPro Super Tec 3 tach to monitor the shift points and SunPro gauges monitor oil pressure, engine temperature and voltage.

The stereo has four speakers, two are preloaded and a dual Fosgate Amp. But none of this matters cause the engine over powers the stereo. The rear mounted antenna is power retractable. The car has two kill switches and a remote security system.

The wipers, headlights, tail and brake lights all work as does the heater. The batter is trunk mounted and directly across from it is the remotely operated nitrous bottle.

During a recent appraisal the car was rated overall, on a scale of 1-6, with 1 being excellent and 6 as junk. This car scored 1's in the following areas, overall drivetrain, overall body, overall interior. There were a few 1.5 scores for the new headliner that I am too lazy to tighten and in the paint. There are a few chips but overall the paint is nice. This car is a beauty.

My buy it now price is considerably less than you can build one!  Quality was not overlooked, new pumpers and new tires and wheels plus whatever I have forgotten. In the interest of full disclosure the car needs the trim around the windshield.

I am selling only because it is time for a new project! Call 303-250-7953 with questions. The car is listed for sale locally so the auction may end soon. I do not need to sell the car. I am bored and need a project.

2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year entries announced

Wed, Jul 6 2016

Over 40 vehicles will compete for the 2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year awards. If that name looks a little strange, it's because the competition added a third category. In years past, pickup trucks, crossovers, SUVs, commercial vans, and minivans competed for the same award. That's why there were occasionally weird comparisons, like last year's competition between the Volvo XC90 and Nissan Titan XD. The new format separates pickups and commercial vans into the truck contest and CUVs, SUVs, and minivans into the utility competition. A complete list of eligible vehicles is below, but here are a few highlights. For one, the entire list of entries has a luxurious lean. Of the 43 vehicles, nearly half of them are from premium brands. There are two eligible Bentleys – the Bentayga and Mulsanne – the Rolls-Royce Dawn, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi Q7, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-, E-, and S-Class Maybach. The performance ranks are lofty, too, with the Audi R8, Acura NSX, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Mercedes SL- and SLC-Class, Porsche 718, and F-150 Raptor. The mainstream entries are just as comprehensive. From the Chrysler Pacifica to the Chevrolet Cruze to the Fiat 124 Spider to the Mitsubishi Mirage, NACTOY has covered an enormous price range with this year's contestants. Of course, these are only the eligible vehicles. They'll need to run through three rounds of judging, starting in September at NACTOY's traditional Hell, MI, test drive. The Canadian and American journalists involved in the judging will announce this year's nine finalists – three in each category – on December 6. 2014 Chevrolet Malibu gets more torque, more room and inspiration from the Impala

Fri, 31 May 2013

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu, having stared at the Impala across the showroom floor for a year, gets nips and tucks all over inspired by its larger brother. The 2.5-liter four-cylinder in the base car will get a stop-start system and 23 city miles per gallon, 35 highway, each number representing a one-mpg improvement over the 2013 car. Output is 196 horsepower and 186 pound-feet of torque.
Opt for the 2.0-liter turbo and, while power holds steady at 259 hp, torque goes up by 14 percent to a striking 295 lb-ft (a figure Chevy calls best in the class). The final details include newly programmed transmission shift points and faster shifts, for better engaging and enjoying the added power.
Looks-wise, the grille's been reshaped to be more in line with the new Chevrolet look, a narrower upper grille hovering over a larger lower grille.

Weekly Recap: Autonomous driving goes commercial in Nevada

Sat, May 9 2015

Nevada granted Daimler Trucks North America the first license to run an autonomous commercial vehicle on public roads in the United States Tuesday, marking another milestone in the technology's rapid advancement. Gov. Brian Sandoval and Daimler truck chief Wolfgang Bernhard promptly used the license to lap Highway 15 near Las Vegas in a newly revealed Freightliner Inspiration Truck. It was a clear signal that autonomous driving is big-rig reality, though it's still a long way from widespread use. Nevada certified two of Daimler's Freightliner Inspiration Trucks, which use the company's Highway Pilot system with a stereo camera, radar, and lane-keeping collision-prevention features to regulate the brakes and steering. The radar component has a long-range sensor that can cover 820 feet at an 18-degree angle and a shorter-range unit that stretches 230 feet at a 130-degree angle. The Inspiration trucks are based on the existing Freightliner Cascadia Evolution model used on US roads. In addition to the autonomous technologies, it also has futuristic design cues, including blue lighting in the front and a new hood and grille. While there are only two Freightliner Inspiration trucks in existence, Daimler expects to bring the Highway Pilot system into mass-produced big rigs by 2025, in time to capitalize on the market's predicted growth. The German truckmaker predicts the global hauling market will triple by 2050, and the United States will be a key part of that growth. Trucks carry 69.1 percent the nation's domestic freight tonnage and hauled 9.7 billion tons of freight in 2013, according to the American Trucking Association. Daimler expects autonomous driving to augment this growth, and perhaps evolve the role of the truck driver. Still, the company points out autonomous tech is not meant to replace drivers, but to assist them and relieve fatigue and monotony on long hauls. The driver has to stay in control for passing, in city traffic, and when hooking up the trailer. The company said autonomous driving also offers the potential for improved fuel economy – tests showed a five-percent gain – and lower maintenance costs. Daimler also said the technology could reduce congestion on the road. Much of this is attributable to the constant flow of traffic, which is aided by autonomous driving. While the benefits are becoming increasingly apparent, autonomous technology is still met with skepticism.
