Up for auction in a 1975 Chevy Nova two door sedan. The car started out as a base Nova with a 250 cu in. straight six and a three speed on the column manual transmission.
Paint and Body
The car was taken completely apart, sanded down to bare metal, one rear quarter panel replaced, a fin on the trunk added, out of sheetmetal, the lower quarter panel ends and fender fronts were fabricated out of sheetmetal instead of the factory rubber pieces, a custom console built, and the front and rear bumpers were narrowed and tucked in. All of the parts and the body were primed inside and out with House Of Kolor direct to metal epoxy and then primed over with HOK high build epoxy. The car got six coats of primer, block sanding between every coat, until super straight. Then the Nova was sprayed with four coats of white HOK sealer, six coats of HOK Tangerine Kandy, and finally six coats of HOK clear. The white sealer under the tangerine gave the car a jet stream effect where it changes appearance from the jet stream effect to a different kandy color. The stripes were blacked out and sprayed with HOK Marbilizer. It is one of a kind. It has a few small flaws in the paint but nothing serious, I can't get them to show in the pics. The whole car was color sanded and buffed. The inside and the bottom was sprayed with truck bed liner. The inside was then covered in sound deadening Fat Mat. The car was lowered 2" with drop spindles in front and blocks in back. I added subframe connectors and traction bars. All body mounts and front end suspension bushing were replaced. The rear end has a posi unit with Yukon 3.90 gears and a chrome cover. The chrome parts were all re-chromed including the bumpers, tail light frames, and the A/C compressor brackets.
Engine and Transmission
The engine is a 350 cast in 1975. It was taken to a very repritable machine shop, bored to 4.060 align honed, decked, and balanced. The parts added were an Eagle stroker crank, Eagle rods, TRW flat top coated skirt pistons, Clevite 77 main and rod bearings, Comp Cams 292 cam with a .510 lift, Comp lifters and pushrods, Trick Flow aluminum heads with 2.02 and 1.6 valves, Edelbrock RPM air gap intake, Headman 1 5/8 headers with new exhaust and chrome tips,
Demon 650 street demon carb, Holley chrome mechanical fuel pump, MSD 6a ignition box, MSD HEI distributor and 8.5 mm plug wires, March performance underdrive serpentine pulleys, Three row radiator with dual electric 12" Flex-a-lite fans, Milodon seven quart oil pan, Chrome Chevrolet valve covers and air cleaner and timing chain cover. The tranny is a built 700R4 with a shift kit, a cooler and a B&M chrome deep oil pan.

Interior
The Interior is all brand new or redone to like new specs. It has new bucket seats, carpet, headliner, sunvisors, rearview mirror, new front windshield, hardware, gauges, and Nova floormats. The sound system consists of three 5 1/2 pioneers up front, two 6 x 9's in the rear package tray, two 1" MTX tweeters on front pillars with a pioneer deck that has usb and plays mp3's. The mid's and tweets are powered by a JLAudio 400W amp and one MTX 10" sub in the trunk powered by a Memphis 1000W amp in a custom made box. New complete wiring harness and a new heat and air kit from NAP.
Brakes
New chrome master cylinder, brake lines, shoes and pads, all rear components and hubs.

Important Info
I have put a lot of time and money into this car and know that I will probably be taking a loss. I am trying to sell it locally also so, I reserve the right to end the auction early and at any time. I have a clear AR title, I will assist in shipping if needed and will only meet within 50 miles to the winning bidder. I'm sure I've left something out so feel free to contact me with ?'s. Thanks for looking and BID TO WIN....no trades. Inspections are very welcome, I will meet any interested parties at a covenant location. I will ship the car at the buyers expense.

First 2014 Chevy Corvette Stingray spotted crashed in the wild

Tue, 12 Feb 2013

This restyled blue 2014 Chevrolet Corvette Stingray is wearing manufacturer plates, and it appears to be the same one seen around the internet in various pictures lately. This crash is likely not part of the Chevrolet testing regimen, however. Digital Corvettes forum member gpetry posted the shot with a note: "got this picture e-mailed from a friend in Arizona last week..." No circumstances are given, other than the incident occurred in the thick of a set of curvy roads, and the coupe ping-ponged off a guardrail and into the rock wall. Hopefully everyone involved in the incident walked away.
It may not be a pretty thing to see, a crashed sports car that's not even available for sale yet, but rest easy. Many pre-production cars are used for development and then unceremoniously crushed and scrapped, anyway. If that's the case here, that makes this wrecked 'Vette less of a tragedy and more of a case of exceptional efficiency.

Official USPS Muscle Cars stamps coming to a mailbox near you

Thu, 21 Feb 2013

As much as our digital lives have cut down on our trips to the post office, there are still times that sending "snail mail" is necessary. With us car lovers in mind and philately in their hearts, the good folks at the United States Postal Service will introduce a new stamp design called "Muscle Cars" starting on February 22.
Designed by artist Tom Fritz, the new collection of stamps consist of five classic muscle cars: 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona, 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle SS, 1967 Shelby GT-500, 1966 Pontiac GTO and 1970 Plymouth Hemi 'Cuda. In addition to just the stamps, the USPS is also commemorating the new series with plenty of collectable memorabilia. Previous car-related stamps include 50s Sporty Cars from 2005 and 50s Fins and Chrome from 2008.

Chevy Volt replacement battery cost varies wildly, up to $34,000

Fri, Jan 10 2014

There's a growing hubbub in the plug-in vehicle community over what looks like some ridiculously cheap replacement batteries for the Chevrolet Volt going up for sale. GM Parts Online, for example, is selling a replacement Volt battery with an MSRP of $2,994.64 but, with an online discount, the price comes down to $2,305.88. For the 16-kWh pack in the 2012 Volt, that comes to a very low $144.11 per kilowatt hour (kWH). But is it a real deal? How can it be, when a Chevy dealer may quote you a price of up to $34,000 to replace the pack? For a 16-kWh Volt pack, $2,305.88 comes to a very low $144.11 per kWh. But is it a real deal? Battery packs in alternative propulsion vehicles are usually priced by the kWh and, historically, they've been thought to be in the range of $500-per-kWh for OEM offerings. Since automakers are understandably secretive about their costs, we still don't know what the real number is today, but we do know it varies by automaker. Tesla, for example, has said it pays less than $200-per-kWH at the cell level but, of course, a constructed pack would be more. Whatever is going on, li-ion battery prices are trending downward. So, $144.11 certainly sounds great, but what's the story here? Kevin Kelly, manager of electrification technology communications for General Motors, reminded AutoblogGreen that GM Parts Online is not the official GM parts website and that, "the costs indicated on the site are not what we would charge our dealers or owners for a replacement battery. There would be no cost to the Volt owner if their battery needs replacement or repair while the battery is under the eight year/100,000 mile limited warranty coverage provided by Chevrolet." A single price tag also can't be accurate for everyone, Kelly said. "If the customer needs to have their battery repaired beyond the warranty, the cost to them would vary depending on what needs to be replaced or repaired (i.e. number of modules, which specific internal components need replacement, etc.)." he said. "So, it's hard for us to tell you exactly what the cost would be to the customer because it varies depending on what might need to be repaired/replaced. As a result, the core charge would vary." But, is the $2,300 price even accurate for anyone? Thanks to a reader comment, we see that this similar item on New GM Parts makes it look like the lithium-ion modules that Kelly mentioned – where a lot of the expensive bits are – are not included.
