1972 Chevrolet Nova With A 454 on 2040-cars
Senatobia, Mississippi, United States
Up for auction is a Really Nice 1972 Nova w/ 454. I’m listing this 1972 Nova for a friend of mine and it is a clean one. It is a very nice driver (not a trailer queen) and has limited flaws inside and out. I’ll reveal everything I see and will reply to any emails or phone messages as quickly as I can. This Nova is a very reliable & smooth running, I think you’ll be pleased with it and it’s priced very reasonably. Feel free to call 662-560-4609 and leave a message if I don’t pick up or drop me a note through Ebay. The owner has a Clear Title. I will start with the outside. First of all, I don’t see any rust on this car, underneath or on the outside. The car does have a few small paint chips but nothing large, and the owner has a small bottle of touch up paint. The doors close firmly and may be in need of a pin and/or a slight alignment to match up to the quarters (see pic). The rear quarters have been replaced. The paint color code is Radiant Red #756 (feel free to look it up in case the pictures may or may not show up correctly). It has a nice paint job, again not a showroom finish but very clean. The body is in good condition, straight and solid. The front lower valance (just below the grill) has a crack see pic). The glass is also clean (windshield, rear window and sides). The rear windows do roll down partially (the driver side rear window needs assistance on the way up) and the doors are equipped with Power Windows (they work great, the ignition doesn’t need to be on either to power up or down). The headlights are currently not working but will be (a horn was recently installed and I’m thinking they disconnected the headlights somehow), the parking lights, side lights, brake & turn signal lights all work. The reverse lights do not work (these will require a switch connected to the shifter). The wipers do work. The hood is set up with a forward tilt Corvette style mechanism and is easy to mange. The cowl hood is a nice touch, looks really sharp and has the only emblems on the car “454”. The owner does have the original hood, this will go with the car. Trunk pan and floor boards are clean (the trunk has a different style carpet in it, not the factory mat – see pic). I am not certain of the wheel manufacturer, but they 14” rims. The tires are P195/70R14 on the front (new) with a recent alignment, and P205/75R14. Spare tire in the trunk w/ matching rim. Now for the interior: Black interior and shows nicely but needs a little attention, nothing urgent and I’ll note those later. There is after market tach installed in the instrument cluster (right side of the speedometer). The gauges all work and there are 3 extra gauges mounted below (Volt, Oil Pressure and Water Temp). The dash pad is in good shape, a small tear on the driver side, down low. There’s a vent missing on the passenger side. The carpet, back seat, door panels, dash, rear deck sail panel are all in good condition. Headliner is new and the driver side sail panel needs replaced. Panasonic stereo/CD with 6” x 9” speakers. The front seat is in good shape but when you sit down you can see a seam that’s coming apart, may need to be re-sewn or recovered. Drive train consists of a 454 w/ Rocker Rollers and a mild cam. It starts easily and has a very nice thump to it. Very clean under the hood w/ several chrome components. Automatic Turbo 400 transmission & shifts hard. Some recently added items are new valve cover gaskets, alternator, transmission pan gasket & cooling lines to the radiator, B&M floor shifter, new 3.45 ratio rear-end, anti-sway bars (front & rear, all chrome) and modified suspension, new fuel tank, 4 wheel manual disk brakes w/ front hoses from calipers to frame rails. The Nova also has headers w/ dual 2 1/2 inch exhaust with flow masters, all in great condition (the headers could use a new coating). The car really sounds nice. Chrome drive line and lower control arms. Battery is mounted in the trunk and has a quick disconnect lever. This is a very nice Nova and a reliable driver. While there are a few things missing or needing attention, they are small and won’t keep you from getting in it and driving off. I have driven it and it runs strong and drives nicely. The current owner has had this car for over a year, made some nice improvements and is ready to move onto another project. We do not know the specifics on the engine but I can tell you it sounds good and runs well. This is a non-A/C & non-power steering car. Again, give me a call @ 662-560-4609 or send me Ebay emails and I’ll get back to you as soon as I can. The owner does have this car for sale locally so I reserve the right to end the auction if the reserve hasn’t been met. This is priced to sell compared to other Nova’s I’ve seen, so I believe you will be pleased with this one. Thanks for looking and good luck bidding. On May-08-14 at 20:13:01 PDT, seller added the following information: OK, I heard from 3 Nova experts advising that even though this is a 1972 Nova front end, doors, VIN & title, the rear body of the car is a '73 / '74 series. If you compare the rear side windows between the '72 & others, you can see a distinct shape. Apparently this body swap is somewhat common and doesn't take away from the car and that it's a very nice driver. So thanks to the 3 Nova experts, however I wanted to disclose this and not hide anything about the car. My picture of the Nova with the hood up didn't load, so I'll be happy to send via email. Thanks again for looking and call with any questions. |

Recharge Wrap-up: EVs poll well in Portland, Tesla seeks office space
Tue, Aug 5 2014In a poll of drivers in Portland, more than 80 percent said they would be driving an EV in the next 10 years if they weren't already. The poll was small and not scientific, with just 218 votes cast, but it does reflect a slice of a certain population with changing attitudes toward electric mobility, and 80 percent is an impressive figure. Additionally, 43 percent of respondents planned to have an EV in the next five years, and only 18 percent said they prefer gasoline-powered vehicles. With EVs in many ways repeating the adoption process that hybrids went through a decade ago, the five- or ten-year timeframe for more widespread use seems only natural. Read more at the Portland Business Journal. San Francisco Mayor Ed Lee parks like an idiot, or rather, his security detail does. His Chevrolet Volt has been ticketed for parking six times since he took office. Granted, those street-sweeping signs are tough to keep track of, but his car has been photographed blocking at a bus stop while grabbing a burrito (who hasn't sinned in the name of a delicious burrito?), and was even caught parked in a crosswalk. The tickets were all dismissed. Read more from the SF Gate. Tesla is looking for office space in Silicon Valley. As the electric car company continues to search for a place to build its $4- to $5-billion battery Gigafactory, it also needs some real estate to expand its operations near its Palo Alto home. Tesla has expanded from 3,000 to 6,000 California-based employees since the end of 2012, and plans to add 500 more by the end of the year. It is currently looking for 200,000 to 300,000 square feet of office space close to its Fremont factory, according to sources in the real estate industry. Best and Worst GM Cars
Thu, Apr 7 2022Oh yes, because we just love receiving angry letters from devoted Pontiac Grand Am enthusiasts, we have decided to go there. Based on a heated group Slack conversation, the topic came up about the best and worst GM cars. First of all time, and then those currently on sale, and then just mostly a rambling discussion of Oldsmobiles our parents and grandparents owned (or engineered). Eventually, three of us made the video above. Like it? Maybe we can make more. Many awesome GM cars are definitely going unmentioned here, so please let us know your bests and worsts in the comments below. Mostly, it's important to note that this post largely exists as a vehicle for delivering the above video that dives far deeper into GM's greatest hits and biggest flops, specifically those from the 1980s and 1990s. What you'll find below is a collection of our editors identifying a best current and best-of-all-time choice, plus a worst current and worst-of-all-time choice. Comprehensive it is not, but again, comments. -Senior Editor James Riswick Best Current GM Vehicle Chevrolet Corvette We were flying by the seats of our pants a bit in this first outing and my notes were similarly extemporaneous. When it came time to tie it all together on camera, I failed spectacularly. Thank the maker for text, because this gives me the opportunity to perhaps slightly better explain my convoluted reasoning. I chose the C8 Corvette because it's simply overwhelmingly good, and it's merely the baseline from which this generation of Corvette will be expanded. While the Cadillac CT5-V Blackwing (more on that in a minute) is an amazing snapshot of GM's current performance standing and its little sibling so enraptured me that I went out and bought one, their existence is fleeting. Corvette will live on; forced-induction Cadillac sport sedans, not so much. So while all three are amazing machines when viewed in a vacuum, the Corvette stands above them as both a reflection of GM's current performance credentials and a signpost of what is to come. So, given the choice between the C8 and the 5V-Blackwing right now, I'd choose the C8. In 10 years, when the Blackwing is no longer in production and Corvette is in its 9th generation? Well, that might be a different story. Now, just pretend I said something even remotely that coherent when we get to the part of the video where I try to make an argument for the 5-V Blackwing as best GM car I've ever driven. Or just laugh at me while I ramble incoherently.
Former Fisker CEO has some advice for Tesla Motors
Wed, Oct 22 2014Former Fisker Automotive CEO and ex-Chevrolet Volt vehicle-line director Tony Posawatz has some words of caution for Tesla Motors. The long-time automaker executive questions the California automaker's long-term viability – and gives some praise – in a talk with Benzinga, which you can listen to below. While the all-wheel-drive D that Tesla unveiled earlier this month in Southern California wowed a packed crowd, Posawatz (starting at around minute 4:45 in the interview) says Tesla would've been better off taking the resources it expended toward that Model S upgrade and directed them towards speeding up the development of a more affordable plug-in. Perhaps a number of investors agreed, since the company's stock fell the day after the D was announced. Posawatz says Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of ZEV credits. Posawatz also says that Tesla has been over-reliant on the sale of zero-emissions vehicle credits in California for its earnings and questions whether the automaker will ever work at a large enough scale to sufficiently drive down costs and make consistent profits. Tesla CEO Elon Musk would take issue with this characterization. Posawatz first made his mark in the plug-in vehicle world when he was the vehicle-line director at General Motors for the Volt extended-range plug-in from 2006 to 2012. Later that year, he joined extended-range plug-in maker Fisker Automotive as its CEO, though quit that job during the summer of 2013 as the company was descending into insolvency. He joined the Electrification Coalition this past March. News Source: Benzinga Green Chevrolet Fisker Tesla Electric PHEV Tony Posawatz
